OFFTOPIC
You can fix something easily but decide to complain instead. Do you have Polish roots by any chance? ;)

@Renegade
You forgot few smaller but important rules:
- big images must be scaled down with width/height (no thumbnails allowed),
- mouse cursor movement must be followed by some crazy shit (i.e. stars),
- MIDI sound must be played over and over, and over again.

BTW Some template: http://www.angelfire...per/badwebs/main.htm

General Software Discussion / Re: yet another file manager thread...
« Last post by fenixproductions on April 09, 2012, 05:38 PM »
TC only but I must say that I've probably tested ALL of them.

There are few reasons against other managers but I'd rather focus on main TC advantages:
  • plugins - amongst hundreds of them content ones are used by me the most. They not only give nice column views but are also usable for renaming, view filters or… files names colouring. There are so many places for them that I can't even write all them down without deeper thought.
  • speed - somehow other FMs were always slow for me (DO being sad leader for that). Placebo?
  • explorer.exe - TC does not rely on Windows Explorer, other FM - may do. Such feature may not be usable for portable scenario or when you need to resurrect someone's system. On the other hand: copying with explorer can be bothersome if one of the files fails.
  • *.ext - It may be just me but I don't like to have full file names: name must be in separate column and name only. I like to group files by their types because more likely I remember the kind of work I am at (oh! few PSDs to edit). TC makes it easier.

General Software Discussion / Re: best WYSIWYG html editor
« Last post by fenixproductions on April 03, 2012, 12:50 PM »
HTMLKit is good, but you can't beat a text editor with a few extra features.
That's why I gave up on looking for good WYSIWYG.

Of course, I need to use Dreamweaver at work but it just builds up my anger each day.
Little more complaints

@cranioscopical
I must admit I don't know what can be wrong but you may try few things (to filter plausible causes out).

I am sorry for just guessing but:
1. backup your working version - just to have the point of return :) ,
2. try new version without config.ini - some option is bad,
3. try to overwrite old EXE with new one (only EXE) - linked DLL issue,
4. try to run BBCeditor from fully accessible path (not Program Files) or run it as admin,
5. check your anti-virus policy - maybe you've added old version there,
6. try to reinstall framework - last resort.

Maybe framework version has something to do with it?

I've noticed additional file on dcmembers server with name containing net3.5. I don't remember this one but something tells me it was made for you :)

So… I've recompiled the newest version to target .NET 3.5 (instead of 2.0):

Please check.

Try this one:
http://fenixproducti...bceditor_v32_wip.zip

Or check setting UseAltOpenDlg=0 in [General] section of config.ini.

Does BBCeditor give any error message?

Which language do you use for it?

@Curt
PDB are debug files. I pack them with applications which are in beta stage because - in case of crash - error message box can give more details than usual "Application crashed". It helps with bugs fixing but is not needed for release.

BBCeditor 1.1 is ready for testing.

All small changes done according to latest comments.
I will keep it in WIP state for some time waiting for opinions.

Download

From now on I am not willing to implement any more changes to basic parser (alternative one is based on RegExp and is easier to handle).

@David.P
Images functionality changed a little bit.

@tomos
This bug is related to upper case tags. It is fixed for "alternative parser".

@Curt
1. Inline mode can be seen when inserting tags: difference lies in cursor placement after toolbars button click it either stays within tags or is put after. To see it just select some text, push bold and observe.

Oh! And I've added DC images functionality.

2. Minimizing play can now be set via config.ini editing.
Code: Text [Select]
  1. [General]
  2. MinimizeOnEscape=0
  3. MinimizeSave=0
  4. MinimizeToTray=0
- MinimizeOnEscape - Escape key minimizes application,
- MinimizeSave - saves file changes but works only if file name already exists,
- MinimizeToTray - just as it says.
Change 0 to 1 when you need it.

@Deozaan
SPOILER (warning for mouser)
As far as I heard so far it should be possible to have the best ending with single player only. All you need is to do everything (all quests and artifacts): I did that for all 3 games!
And now I should play multi - being thrown away so much? Isn't even more ridiculous

@wraith808
SPOILERS!!!
I've read all of them after play. And I understand that autors have the right to plot the story however thay want to but…

Matrix has shitty ending but it is still fun to watch it over and over again.

With ME I've lost that. Houndreds of hours spent (I've replayed whole story not so long ago) for nothing. This is the feeling I have: all choices, getting to know game's universe (books/comics) and getting fully motional emotional just to be slapped in face. There is no sense in ending and it is iconsistent with the rest of content (i.e. exploding Relays would destroy more lifes that Reaper ever did).

I own a lot of games - many of them are poor - but this may be the first time I truly regret of playing.

BTW Two previous parts had pots full of gold and the third… the larch.

@mouser
I don't think you deserve such bad ending ;)

Either way: it is bound to EA account (despite the fact of having DVD edition).

@K.Murat
I understand why these thumbnails are needed but what I truly doubt is:
2. You can select to backup your catalog with or without thumbnails. Because thumbnails are something that could be regenerated later, from actual files;

Is it really always necessary? Couldn't Daminion check if this is needed on assumption of file size?

My exact case was:
I have 2881 SVG files which are mainly icons. Since there is no image organizer for vector files, I had decided to make mirrored directory with PNG versions of them. Simple batch script for rsvg-convert.exe did the work and I have few thousands thumbnails - 512 pixels wide. From my point of view it is now not worth it to have Daminion to offer thumbnails of my thumbnails. I don't know the code behind this software but for me: time saved on regenerating thumb for little bigger picture is lost on searching its entry in SQlite database + reading it from hidden dir. Please correct me on this :)

For bigger images it is OK but not for such case. It would be better to have an Option for setting minimum image size needed for thumbnails.

BTW AFAIR some JPG files may contain embedded thumbnails already (in EXIF?). Does Daminion recreate thumb from bigger image to its own dir or use embedded one? How does it look like performance wise?
195
I had tried Daminion few days ago and didn't like three things:
  • No configuration at all.
  • For my 200MB cliparts folder it created 90MB hidden directory full of thumbnails.
  • No warning before any changes or edits buffering. I had wanted to test it on my photos folder and I am lucky I did not. It would mess up my existing tags completely.

BTW Parsing is not needed but nice tags stripping is.
-fenixproductions (February 27, 2012, 07:18 PM)
I assumed that something like that would be useful. I did not check the tags, but assumed that they would contain information that should not be found by the search.
It is rather the case of stripping too much.

I.e.
<tag1>this is</tag1><tag2>test</tag2> may be shown in Word as this is test but wrongly stripped will become this istest.

Finished Programs / Re: SOLVED: GDF File Reader
« Last post by fenixproductions on February 27, 2012, 07:03 PM »
@gameaddict20
This one may be hard to implement because there seems to be is no easy way to be 100% sure where the GDF file is embedded in (i.e. Batman has BmGDFBinary.dll, Damnation - DamnGame.exe and Fallout 3 - GDFFallout3.dll).
The only possible solution would be to get some resource editor code and iterate through all exe/dll files looking for DATA\__GDF_XML and DATA\__GDF_THUMBNAIL binary resources but it is not efficient by any means.

Maybe the best would be to check Registry for just HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\GameUX\Game entries?

Mass Effect 3 is coming out soon and it will be one of the few games I play this year.
Pre-ordered already :)

ME was great, ME2 too, I hope third part will be equally good (in contrary do Dragon Age falling down).

BTW Mass Effect was one of the reasons for buying Fraps for me (2nd was Witcher 2) few months ago. And I've made 1016+4566 screenshots for ME story so far (~700 shared on Facebook).
