Living Room / Re: Honestly, who here actually owns an iPad? be honest!
« Last post by y0himba on June 06, 2010, 08:06 AM »
No iPad here.  My sister-in-law, one of those types that needs to show everyone she has some new, trendy and allegedly cool device has one and I have not even seen it.  The iPad is one of the worst examples ever of selling a useless object over nothing but hype. To me, the only folks who bought one of these are the iClones who have this desperate need to show everyone else they have it while pretending to not really care.  Welcome to the Idiocracy folks, I am just waiting to see a show called "Ow My Balls!"

I suppose if Apple can market something like this to dimwit upper class hipster yuppie clones, I can market my new product:  iStick.

Everyone will want iStick.  You can wave it in the air, you can poke things or people with it.  It makes a whooshing sound that is just a must have.  iStick comes in different editions:

*Starter-iTwig style iStick for your kids!  (Not to be put in your child's mouth. Poking NOT recommended.)

**Basic-Larger version of iTwig, perfect for your tween.  They will all want one! Safe for tween sword battles, poking dead things, and more.

***Regular-This is the iStick. Teens can use it as a wand while re-enacting their favorite Harry Potter scene, play Light Sabers, and so much more!  Buy two for true multi-tasking ability!  Buy an iStick for your elderly mom and dad for use as a walking assistance device!  You will be a part of the "in" crowd with your new iStick!

*****Deluxe-Branch out to the deluxe iStick (Also called iBranch) which can be used as a home or personal defense device!  Home invasion?  NO problem!  Get your deluxe iStick!  Dark alley in the city? Carry your deluxe iStick as a deterrent. Hooligans will think twice once they see your deluxe iStick.   Deluxe iStick can also be used as a flotation device in case of emergencies.  Use a fuel for fire NOT recommended.  Never leave home without your deluxe iStick. (Additional shipping charges for deluxe iStick may apply)

COMING SOON!  New decorations for your iStick,! iCovers, iStickers, iPaint and more!

General Software Discussion / Re: (Help)Any Outlook 2007 Gurus Out There?
« Last post by y0himba on May 25, 2010, 08:22 AM »
Your question is much too difficult for me, but...
why not just use a back up program, to save the mails,
and then simply delete the old ones?

There are so many that going through and deleting them 1 by 1 would take far too long.

Can't you simply use the Archive function built into Outlook - you can specify to archive emails older than a certain age and automatically delete them from the current PST file. It will also preserve the folder structure in the archive.

Another good way of doing this is to use MailStore Home edition which will archive all of your email in an easily searchable database. You can even reply to emails and extract attachments etc. within MailStore. You can also instruct mailstore to remove emails older than a certain date (and other rules). The home version is free and works great. You can also use it with POP and IMAP servers and various other services. Data can be restored top any service you fancy (including Outlook) one email at a time or any number of emails you want (including the whole archive). It also has an automated CD/DVD/Folder backup routine to keep copies of the archive.

As for archive, it only deletes them, not moves them to another folder/PST that I can back up.  Mailstore would just create yet another file.  Why would I need that?  I use Microsoft's own Personal Folders Backup, and it works perfectly to back up the PST.  I need to move all those messages to a separate PST for archiving.

Here is my issue.  I have been backing up my .pst (email) since Windows XP.  It has grown and I have emails saved from...well, forever? Always importing and then backing up, blah blah.  I have them saved in a folder structure, SAVED is the root, the under that there are 6 sub-folders.

I need a rule that will run on the main folder and all sub folders, moving all mail that is older than 2008 to another folder, or archiving it, automagically.  I am trying to clean the PST, it is around 900mb.  I would like to create a separate PST of all this old mail that I can then put on CD or DVD in case I ever need it, while reducing the file size of the PSt that I actually use.

Any takers?

Site/Forum Features / Re: Discussion: How can we Improve DonationCoder?
« Last post by y0himba on April 23, 2010, 09:05 AM »
Donationcoder has always been almost perfect for me.  My philosophy:  "If it ain't broke, don't fix it".

With that being said, and with the "almost" hanging out there,  here is my one wish:

An easier one-stop place for all the available software here on DC, with easy to follow and read version/update information for each program.

Other than that, when we get back on our feet from my wife's illness, I will continue to donate and contribute what I can.  This site and forum is my idea of discussion perfection.  Polite and informative, intelligent and lacking in the new breed of worthless, shock-me to get attention Internet punk.

Even though I am not very active, I love it here.  Don't change if you don't need to.

Oh look, yet another iFad.  I am sure all the iClones will need one to show everyone else they have one.  I love how the media frenzy is manipulated to make this thing look useful.  The media coverage of this reminds me of the movie "Idiocracy".  They stand in line for a day, get the device, unbox it, then show everyone else they have it.  That's the only thing the iPad is useful for, showing others you have the latest media mentioned 'it' device.

Wait, there is yet another use for the iPad:

I say bah on the whole thing.  None of the reasons put forth thus far are any reason whatsoever to pirate or steal.  I just think of what my kids would say if they saw me doing that kind of stuff, or how I would reply when they asked where I got that game or movie.

I agree that the companies and blah blah are doing it wrong, but that doesn't mean I need to also.  My pirating of copyrighted works is not going to fix the problem, it just makes me as low as the uncaring, money-mongering morons that the low life pirates try to use as an excuse.

There is no excuse or justification to pirating someone's work.

When you click the graphic on http://www.drattmannh0nee.com The page title is:

index.htm hakudk
index2.htm: dakhuk

Weird: The "div"s that are lined up in the source code equal the Fibonacci number 112358 (start/end div for each count), and the 2nd page reverses it making it 853211 which is a prime number

You can update everything via Google Buzz.  50 services.  Here is how:

I personally like Buzz, very convenient.  I would prefer to see a standalone service though.

Any chance I can get you to expand on that a bit? A friend recommended their DVD/Audio copy/riping software to me the other day ...(some friends are brighter that others)... I haven't tried any of it yet, and am thinking perhaps I should not given your comment.

They keep churning out versions with NO major changes and require more money every time they do for the upgrades.  The software is bloated, and the tech support is non-existent. Not to mention if you buy ONE product you get spammed up to 20 times a day from them alone trying to get you to spend more, and you also notice a rise in the amount of spam mails you get a day from others.  They also pay folks to spam blogs, forums, and email to sell software.
