I had a quick look on the script and think you pretty much had it... just some minor errors.

I guess the most serious problem was the missing ",nohide" after "Gui,submit". The GUI just disappeared and that's it... Not cool. The second main error, Abterix pointed out, was the wrong hotkey {f2}:

Anyway, here's a working version of your script. It's a different approach than from AbteriX. Just take the best and use what you want.

Hint: To make your script more useful, store the entries in the registry or an ini file (in the ApplyButton: segment) and load it while starting your script. AHK help file is of great help, but feel free to ask if you've problems.

I'm using Slimbrowser (IE frontend) but for saving media from fun sites I'm using Firefox with following extensions:

CacheViewer
Clear Cache Button
Download Statusbar
Unplug

UnPlug is a great extension. It allows me to download most media from sites (Youtube, Metacafe, Break, ebaumsworld ...).

CacheViewer allows me to see the cache, sort it (size), preview and save (for the few media sites UnPlug fails). Useful with the "Clear Cache Button" extension.

Download Statusbar, so I don't see this stupid download window.

Just a wild guess, but I think you didn't use CoordMode

If this command is not used, all commands except those documented otherwise (e.g. WinMove and InputBox) use coordinates that are relative to the active window.

Screen: Coordinates are relative to the desktop (entire screen).
Relative: Coordinates are relative to the active window.

CoordMode,Mouse,Screen

Thanks for sharing your results, but it seems you quite abandoned the "easy way" of video encoding. You've listed a lot of manual steps.  :D

Considering the encoding time I'd personally opt for the XviD version. The quality is hardly worse but *much* faster encoded. After all, when all is done and ready you watch the encoding on your TV and don't sit 40cm away from your monitor looking for artefacts. I think with 200 MB it wouldn't look much different.

About subtitles... be sure to use the OCR correcting feature of SubRip. It'll fix many common OCR errors. I also use Subtitle Workshop (#1) for additional OCR correcting + time sync. For displaying subtitles in movie players I use the DirectVobSub filter (#2), as it offers a lot of options how to display text subtitles (font, border, shadow, color, background, size, transparency, spacing, position...)

Well, works here. It's Moses' most awesome power, so it's a bit tricky to do... ;) Another thing, if a character changes sides, the keys switch. So if Moses looks to the left, the raining frogs power is done via left, left, down, down,x.

I gave Gordian Knot a try last night, seemed to create a decent video. Very automated, but I didn't see many options... (I even tried right clicking on the program!). I have a suspicion maybe I have to change the options in the Xvid program, or in some .ini somewhere though.

Unlike some people, I'm not happy just letting a program "do it's thing" when I know there's a ton of options to be had. For instance live TV shows probably need different options than cartoons to create the highest quality video.

Gordian Knot gives you 100% access to all the options a codec offers. :-)

See the three guides here: http://www.doom9.org/xvid-guides.htm

Gordian Knot is already a bit dated because all development went into AutoGK. IMHO AutoGK is the best one-click solution around, but I still prefer Gordian Knot (together with the included Robot4Rip). It's a bit of a learning process to get used to the program, but after years of using + a couple of mouse gestures (using StrokeIt) I can create XviD encodings (ripped from DVD) with minimum work in a quality and size I want.

For ripping copy protected DVDs I'm using AnyDVD. This tool allows me to continue using DVDDecrypter and DVDShrink + lets me watch DVDs without seeing forced ads/trailers/PiratesAreCriminals. And the best: Lifetime updates.

Post New Requests Here / Re: IDEA: Clipboard Chain broken notifier
« Last post by wr975 on May 25, 2007, 06:19 AM »
Perhaps this is useful for you:

ArsClip offers a "clipboard chain break notification". There's also an option to enable an extended checking.

http://www.joejoesoft.com/

Automatic clipboard chain break detection

UPDATE: Vista users can and should disable chain break detection, since breaks are no longer present on the Vista operating system.

Unfortunately, any program can mess up the "clipboard chain", because it is left up to the program to correctly handle clipboard messages. ArsClip has a workaround for this. It checks the contents of the clipboard every 1 minute to make sure that it was automatically notified of the current items arrival. If it wasn't, it will display an error message, and then transparently fix any future problems this session without bugging you. This can help you track down programs that break any clipboard monitors. For example, if you run a program and copy an item to the clipboard and up to a minute later you get this ArsClip error message, you can be pretty sure that program can break the windows clipboard chain. Please let me know of any programs you use that break the chain.

ArsClip nows monitors for programs that may have crashed or left the clipboard chain without properly notifying windows. This helps detect chain breaks much earlier and increases the accuracy of detecting problem programs.

There is an option (under Config -> Clipboard) to disable the Notification window all together, but it is only recommended for advanced users.

Here's an interesting flash game (found via Gizmo's Support Alert Newsletter). It's a real time strategy (RTS), like Warcraft or Command and Conquer. Of course simplied for flash, but still very addicting. I've wasted many hours finishing both campaigns. :)

Just wondering... if you've a generic system, is the graphics adapter on board or an AGP card? Your CPU isn't that slow actually. With a nice midrange AGP (like GeForce 6800 or 7800) card you could still play most games (not at max detail settings, but still).

For a P4 3.2 GHz you'd need a new motherboard, because according to http://www.geek.com/...intel/p7consumer.htm your current CPU is on a 423 or 478 socket. This CPU also has a high energy consumption and gets quite hot, so expect a noisy system.

IMHO I'd get or replace the graphics card or save some money and get something better. Your current selection (Mobo + CPU) would cost 150. For 230 you could get an ASROCK motherboard (4CoreDual-VSTA) and a Intel Core Duo (E6320). Your P4 compatible PSU would work just fine, no need to be replaced.

Or try LogMeIn Free. A commercial product free for personal use. I'm very impressed about this product (performance and features) and wonder why they offer it for free. The only downside is the client install. In the free version it's not "hands free", you've to enter your own passwort. So I use CrossLoop to install the client for LogMeIn Free. ;)

@broken85
You'll need to edit the ini file (instructions inside) or just use SMPSeeSaw.

@Ampa
Thanks for the link. Too bad I didn't find this tool myself. I only found Dual-Core-Tuner and a quite horrible freeware solution by Tom's Hardware. SMP SeeSaw would've been exactly what I was looking for.

Edit: Just tested SeeSaw and it seems to be a GUI for Task-Manager only. It does not change affinity on new tasks (automatically) and does not save the configuration. Pity. Would've been a nice app to use with very low memory usage.

ProcessTamer / Re: CPU Affinity
« Last post by wr975 on May 10, 2007, 04:19 PM »
Here's a little AHK tool to set affinity of processes, to make better use of multi-core CPUs. I made it for own personal use (for my always running AHK script, as I recently got a dual-core CPU) but thought someone would've interest in it, so here's a self-running version.

It's doing the same thing as the $15 shareware "S.A.D. Dual-Core-Tuner" and is perhaps an useful solution until ProcessTamer  :-* can do such thing. It is monitoring the system for certain tasks to appear and sets the specified CPU affinity. It's no longer necessary to open task-manager and set the affinity manually. The tasks and CPU affinity have to be written in a configuration file (.ini).

Instructions:
- Download and start.

Notes:
  • To edit this file, right-click the tray icon and select "configure". This will open notepad and reload the configuration. If you edit the ini file manually, you've to restart the tool.
  • Creating a shortcut in your startup folder is a good idea.

Shooting zombies is always fun. :D With a little bit of rolepay + strategy (finding weapons, survivors) it's even better. (Some years ago people would've payed to play this game.)

Best weapon?
Spoiler
I played the game on an Athlon XP2600 three times, and then on an Intel DualCore. The game was much faster, more difficult and - never happened before: I died. :o I had to change my weapon strategy to survive. So here's my list:

Best weapons on slower CPUs:
357
Hunter Rifle
Barrett

Best weapons on faster CPUs:
UZI
AK47
Barrett

Secondary weapon always: Chainsaw

General Software Discussion / Re: Whats the best program to learn typing?
« Last post by wr975 on April 28, 2007, 04:11 AM »
Well, you've learned to type good in the "hunt-and-peck" method which can be a problem if you now want to type properly IMHO. You'll have to really force yourself not to look on the keys. Perhaps find some way to block the view.

For best program I can't really say anything. As Austrian I'm using a German keyboard and most English keyboard learning tools are useless for me. I've heard of Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing quite often and it's no#1 in your typing programs review. So perhaps give it a try. Most programs offer a trial or demo. Just use the program you're most comfortable with.

If you want some typing games, I can recommend "Typing Shark" (http://www.popcap.co...p?theGame=typershark). There's a free version online. My favorite typing game is "Typing of the Dead". It also offers a typing school and drill section. It's not the best program to learn typing, but probably the most entertaining/motivating one... (if you don't mind the graphics and gameplay). http://en.wikipedia....e_Typing_of_the_Dead

It's about movies, but my favorite science fiction show is "Babylon 5". Close second: "Farscape".

Some SF movies I like:
A movie so bad, you'd think it's a spoof, but they were dead serious: Battlefield Earth

Really a great movie. It's just bad they made sequels: Matrix 1
Many people just see stupid action, but there's so much more: Starship Troopers

That's a weird combination. I don't understand why you have INTEL and VIA USB on your board. Did you install a PCI card?

It seems a lot of USB ports are working, so perhaps just try using another port?

About drivers. Win XP SP2 usually needs no drivers for USB but you can still try.
