Couple goal with open mind allowing other to speak

I didn't understand this comment. Can you clarify?

I took it to mean that you need to couple or supplement goals with an open mind that invites an expression of your partner's concerns.

Yes, that's what I intended to say, thanks wraith808 :)

As far as I have read, hackers are always trying to break in one and all servers, sadly.

So we just have to be cautious and use different passwords for all websites ; and, most important, only give information which is needed for using the website.

Other then that we do not have any hope or control on this big internet world.

Well sandboxie became free and I thought to give it a spin.
https://www.sandboxie.com/

After reading help and watching tutorial given, I wanted to run one of my installed app in sandbox to check how it will work when installed in a clean machine.

Now the app reads from "c:\Users\..\Documents\Folder\" a ini file. I expected, in sandbox it will read NOT from the existing on in my C: drive but in sandbox. But it is sill reading from the original ini path.

I tried forced sandbox and also installed in the sand box, but same result. May be I did not understand how to use it.

Win10 Pro 32 bit, version 1903, Os build 18362.356

Please advise how to accomplish it, if anyone had done the same ?

Living Room / Re: Free call recorder for Android
« Last post by anandcoral on September 17, 2019, 04:09 AM »
Is there any free reliable call recorder for Android to automatically record and store the audio of all calls?
If you have MI phone then you can use the inbuilt option to auto record all incoming/outgoing calls. I use the same.
For my older Lenovo A6000 I used "Automatic Call Recorder" https://play.google....appstar.callrecorder and it works too.

Well nothing can run for free for too long. Some monetary involvement is required, in shape of 'donation', 'advertisements', 'selling of user data' etc.

And 'selling of user data' is much more lucrative and gives high returns, as known to Facebook, Google and now Microsoft etc.

So they will always try to find out a way to 'earn' for their 'free' services.

from malware that would format them
AFAIK, malware do not format hdd nowadays. They encrypt the sectors, rendering it useless and demand money.
Any good antivirus should prevent them.

Monolith - a data hoarder's dream come true: bundle any web page into a single HTML file:
https://github.com/Y2Z/monolith
This one seems for Linux only. Any similar for Windows available ?

It's written in Rust, you can install and compile on Windows (or even compile it under WSL - Windows Subsystem for Linux) ... try the attached.

Wow ! Great !! Thanks a lot

Alright then, if French language isn't an issue, there's http://gratilog.net
-ConstanceJill (July 25, 2019, 05:02 AM)
Thanks for the link.
Though the page is in French, the listed freewares are in English, mostly.

And yes I can read it, after translation :)

Gratilog.net, nothing but freewares

Passionate about the Web and computing, I have selected for you more than 2000 freewares for personal use (and sometimes even professional to check in the license). I based the classification of these free software on the language (French / English) because I want to simplify the lives of those who do not speak English. English is still too often a brake on the use of computers by the general public. I myself have translated some software and I specify it in this case.

I want this site to prove that one can have a fully functional and protected Windows computer without buying expensive software. We find almost everything in free software. In this way, IT can become a tool or pleasure for everyone. And since the purpose of this site is only to share my discoveries and help others, no ads appear on this site. My only reward is your emails of encouragement.

In case of problems, read the FAQ or ask your questions on the forum . The forum is also the perfect place to talk about the freewares you like. New free software is regularly presented in addition to those presented in the database of the site. Have a good visit on Gratilog.net, the free software catalog. These software are only for Windows.

I sincerely thank the authors of all these free programs for all the time they have spent developing these software and giving us these great gifts.

And it also mentions my app, Overlap Wallpaper :)

Do sites in languages other than english qualify?

By all means, yes.

Language do not separate us. We can translate :)

Living Room / Re: Fingerprint sensor under screen: does it work well?
« Last post by anandcoral on July 04, 2019, 05:48 AM »
Whole screen can not act as a finger print scanner, still now. A defined area, normally below, is used as finger print scanner. Since there is no visible mark on the screen, it takes time to scan the finger print successfully.

The back panel finger print scanner works faster, comparatively.

My calculation is, it is google search for "Get a License Key" text. Since the exact text is in our page "https://www.donation...ng/get-a-license-key" it is given high score and shows on top.

Changing text in our page will be wrong. As we do not know what next app will do a search on text and it may show Skrommel's page as top !

So we just have to reply politely that the license available here is for DC apps.

Had beta installed and with "Firefox Data Collection and Use" re-checked, all came back to normal the next day after the hick.

Wonder if it's not a Mozilla tactic to get users to leave these options on?
Conspiracy? oh! oh!

I don't think so. That was a stop gap solution.
I followed Martin's advice of GHack and waited for the new FF version. Today I got it and "alls well that ends well"
