« Last post by joiwind on February 20, 2012, 05:09 PM »
I have fixed it but not uploaded it yet.  When I do upload the next version it will detect maximized state and save the size it was before it was maximized and it will also launch maximized if it was maximized and you can click the form maximize button to take it down to the size it was before it was maximized without having to drag the form.

Wow ! That was a long phrase !

Thanks hamradio

If you can track down a pattern I will be more than happy to look into why it is doing that as I am not able to get it to reproduce myself, but it still could be there I just may not be doing the right thing to cause it.

@hamradio - thanks very much for this app., so useful and helpful : just one small problem with the latest version - sometimes when I Maximize the main window I can't change the size any more, it's either Maximized or in the Taskbar. I solved this by deleting the settings.dat file, but as I said this doesn't happen every time ...

Thanks for replying hamradio - I've cracked it : open CW, maximize it, it fills the screen, then reduce it, it goes back to a small window and so on, no problem. Now maximize it and then exit - then open CW again and you'll find that you can't reduce it any more to a small window, the only way is to exit then delete settings.dat.

Hope that helps ?

I'm using DNT+ on Iron since a few days and comparing the results with Ghostery - for the moment I prefer DNT+ as it provides more user information, however the database is a bit smaller than the Ghostery one but this will no doubt change soon.

Ditto had a setting in the General tab called "Update Clip Time On Paste". I would always uncheck that myself when installing Ditto.

This is helpful for me when I do a lot of clipping in one app, then switch to another app and want to paste these various clips. When using Ethervane Echo, I will paste one of the clips, it then automatically goes up to the top and I then have to go searching back down the list to see where the next one was.

For those interested in the distribution graphs, it may be worth having a look at the Wikipedia article on Pareto.
One section reads as follows:
"One of Pareto's equations achieved special prominence, and controversy. He was fascinated by problems of power and wealth. How do people get it? How is it distributed around society? How do those who have it use it? The gulf between rich and poor has always been part of the human condition, but Pareto resolved to measure it. He gathered reams of data on wealth and income through different centuries, through different countries: the tax records of Basel, Switzerland, from 1454 and from Augsburg, Germany in 1471, 1498 and 1512; contemporary rental income from Paris; personal income from Britain, Prussia, Saxony, Ireland, Italy, Peru. What he found – or thought he found – was striking. When he plotted the data on graph paper, with income on one axis, and number of people with that income on the other, he saw the same picture nearly everywhere in every era"
fascinating.

Yes, but did you read on ... ?  :'(

Thanks rjbull - that does exactly what I want BUT it's ugly, quirky and not cheap for what it is.
I was hoping this might inspire someone ....

Yes capitalH - you're right.

Have you ever been confronted with long texts in windows that don't have search capabilities ?

So how about a desktop-based search tool that can be called up and find any text in any open window - is this feasible ?

There's an extension for Chrome called Mozilla Gecko Tab - search for it on the Chrome Webstore, however I don't use so can't say if it's any good !

And Happy New Year  :D

This is great and very useful for me. Thanks.

Just a very minor thing : misspelling of Erase (Rease all), and a suggestion : mouse-over shows individual image name in the status-bar.

Best E-mail Client / Re: E-mail client recommendations
« Last post by joiwind on December 28, 2011, 12:37 PM »
Josh - I recommend InScribe or its free, but limited to one account, sister iScribe.

I've been using it for many years, it has rarely caused problems and fits all my needs. It's not perhaps the most sophisticated of clients and does have some rather quirky sides to it (the database for instance) - but I reckon it's great. My mail store is over 650 mbs but is accessible in seconds.

One of its major advantages is the Preview window (checking mail on the server) which is missing in many, even  well known, email clients.

It goes without saying that I have tried and tested pretty well all the clients out there.

@kalos - I don't know if this is what you want but there is an app that puts all open windows of whatever programs are running into one tabbed interface : Wintabber.

There's also : Window tabifier

Jumping in at the end of this one.

Last night the servers that host my pop3 accounts and some of my domains were hacked and all the servers were down - my index pages were blank with just the words :

F***ed By : Secure-X41

I managed to get through to the company by hotmail and they are working 24/24 to get things back to normal for everyone, they said someone had accessed their servers through a site and I'm hoping it's not mine !

I searched using the above text as keywords and some weird stuff came up that I didn't want to follow - but has anyone heard of "Secure-X41" ?

Me too, but apparently it was flagged as spam by the forum :
