Hi mateek -- funny story about the hot vs. cold water.  Reminds us that sometimes things that seem like such a good clever idea can backfire.

One of the best things about amazon is the number of comments on items, and support for searching comments.  Here's the comments on that litter mentioning kittens:

one thing im going to try to do in the next month is finally let you configure custom hotkeys for different clip groups, so you will be able to make a hotkey to show the New group or Favorites directly.

chs is designed to hopefully show the clips you need right at the very top of that first popup, so you never have to do any of the other steps most of the time.

what's the way to switch to small icons. Define does but this plugin does not?? I've got the appropriate tickbox ticked??

thats up to the plugin setting showallmode, which will make farr switch to small icons if need be to show more results.

EDIT: yes ok the other thing is i could add an easier way to switch to show all.. i will do that too.

works well! cool stuff.

one question i have though is why we would ever use the non +quick version? it doesnt do live resutls without +quick or +reverse, so is it any different than the define alias?

when you type define, it displays the contents of a single alias result list. these are not sorted based on use.  it might be an interesting idea to implement such a feature.. i'll consider it.

Is there a way to reorganize the dictionary listing though? I prefer Dictionary.com over Merriam Webster...

that list is defined inside an alias file called Core_Aliaseses\Core-Linguistics.alias

you shouldnt modify the those pre-defined aliases files since they will get overwritten on the next update, but what you can do is make a copy of that alias file in your own alias directory and then use that one and disable the built in one.

i realize that sounds a bit complicated.. i think someone needs to make a little tutorial on doing that, as it's a bit hard to just explain.

you can right click on a word and get a definition via web search.
also try the "define" alias.

ps.
congrats on your first post

this could be a fun idea for a program.

Seems like a perfect opportunity for Adobe to create this exact device.

That's a really good point.. It would seem like a very natural thing for them to do, and a real win-win for them.

Special Edition Newsletter for January 4th, 2010
Codename "NANY APPS 2010 REVEALED"

This is a special edition of the DonationCoder.com newsletter, focusing entirely on the results of our recent event: The N.A.N.Y. 2010 Challenge.

Each year at DonationCoder.com we encourage the programmers who hang out on our site to release a new program on January 1st, to welcome in the new year.  We call this the N.A.N.Y. (New Apps for the New Year) Challenge.

Now the real fun begins: all the applications (over two dozen of them) are free to download and use.

And remember, if you like the work of the authors, send them a donation (just click on the gold coin under their name in the program's forum thread), and give them some feedback!

To read more about, download, watch video demos of, and comment on the new programs, visit:

Congratulations to all the NANY 2010 Challenge entrants -- and thank you for helping us kick off the new year in style!

Thanks again to everyone who helped make this event so much fun!

And a very special thanks to Perry Mowbray for doing a stupendous job organizing this year's event -- it would not have happened without him.
