Ok, here is what I'll call V1.0 Beta.  Have at it, tell me what you like/dislike, or want added or removed.
Thanks, I see you really got into it! :)

Here are my thoughts:
- make the "Load Servers" window resiszable or at least bigger, it now shows only 4.5 streams at once.

- in the "Load Servers" window, hide the "#EXTINF" lines

- add the "enable" checkmarks again?

- running the .exe again while cause to load a second copy :-/

- if you could, make it check if it's exe is already running when it's started: if it's...
...already running but minimized to the tray make it open the window
...already running but runs in window mode minimize it to the tray
...isn't running already start it up in window mode

- add something like skrommel's *great* "watch for song titles or artist names" idea (see above)

- make the main window more customizable:
  - let the user change the size
  - let the user change what kind of info that window should show
  - I would prefer a much smaller window, where I could have just the info most important to me visible,
    I like skrommel's approach here
  - allow the user to give the streams 'nick names', so that one knows *which* stream is "NA" (see #3 in screenshot)
  - allowing 'nick names' would also help to prevend problems with extremely long stream names (see #4 in screenshot)

Hmm, I wonder if we should use a new thread just for dev talk about ShoutcastConcierge?

I've gone on a "find a new IRC client" bindge a time or too also, but I always go back to ol' mIRC. In fact, I still use 6.03 because I'm too damn lazy to install a new one, also because this install has lasted through several formats). I hate using the "standard" program for anything, but mIRC is one I just can't shake (Winamp is another).
While Winamp is a really great standard (with all those plugins available!) mIRC is not IMHO, at least not for your needs.

I tried Miranda for an AIM client, but couldn't make it work in the first 5 minutes so I gave up and went back to trillian. It'll take quite a bit to get me to install it again.
Read what Nighted said - I can only copy that :) Miranda has a great IRC plugin and you could enhance what Miranda does with a few of the bazillion available plugins. Btw, Miranda chat: #Miranda irc.freenode.net

(I use 0 scripts. The most advanced thing I do with mIRC is hit TAB to complete people's names.) I think I'll take a lookyloo at savIRC and Vortec IRC though. Has anyone here used either of these?
TAB completion is part of almost every IRC program out there, for Miranda you can also choose if it should add  ": " behind the name or not - and about 20352971 other things.
;)

Should you want to try Miranda again (and you should want :D ) please check the URL mentioned in my signature.

I can only say: try it!

I wonder if there really is a better one out there... for free!

I never even considered a multi-protocol chat client as a viable option for an IRC client..
I see...

not sure why.
There we found the problem ;)

Main reasons why I use Miranda for IRC:
- it's highly customizable
- I can easily use the same hotkeys, sounds and whatever for IRC, ICQ, AIM
- all the chatting is done in one program

Mini-Reviews by Members / CCleaner / Crap Cleaner - easily remove Windows ballast
« Last post by brotherS on November 17, 2005, 02:05 AM »
http://www.ccleaner.com/

http://fileforum.bet...Cleaner/1100194579/1

Publisher's Description:
CCleaner (Crap Cleaner) is a freeware system optimization tool that removes unused and temporary files from your system - allowing Windows to run faster, more efficiently and giving you more hard disk space.

It's a tiny and really helpful tool, I haven't tried it's "Issues" (RegCleaner) capabilities, but it's very handy to remove old TEMP files and stuff as it won't delete too much (as has happened with other programs).

Make sure to move the cookies you don't want it to delete (IMDB.com, forums, etc.) to the list of protected cookies ("Cookies to keep"):

Bumping the topic, I added stuff to the list in the first post.

(Potential) AutoHotkey users, where are you? :)

Hehe... Miranda is very nice for Instant Messaging (I hope they'll soon release an updated official version that fixes the numerous MSN bugs), but it doesn't do the trick for IRC for me... oh well :)
Hehe, I was waiting for comments like this, thanks :) Of course, if you (feel the) need to use lots and lots of scripts you should go for mIRC, since there are simply much more scripts available.

But if you don't (and thanks to https://www.donation...dex.php?topic=1167.0 I don't) Miranda is quite perfect IMHO.

I know mIRC is popular and I've always liked it.. but I don't like how no new version of it has appeared in almost a year and a half..
Well, I never really liked mIRC, but I'm very happy without it.

Don't worry no more, salvation is near: https://www.donation...dex.php?topic=1201.0

Cross-quoted:

There is another topic on this forum about RSS readers (https://www.donation...ndex.php?topic=201.0), but nobody has touched it in several months.  I'm new to using RSS, and it looks like it could change my web-habits substantially.  I've picked up GreatNews on Zaine's recommendation, but I would like to hear opinions and suggestions from others...  What's the best RSS Reader in your opinion?
I tried several RSS readers and am now using the RSS reader plugin (called "Web Clips") from the new, great Google Sidebar: http://desktop.google.com/en/

Does everything I need and comes handy and free!

Living Room / HELP - need price tag object
« Last post by brotherS on November 15, 2005, 03:58 AM »
Hi,

I'm helping a friend to design a funny page that he wants to print and send to his ~120 customers. He can't afford to pay a professional for doing the layout, so I help him with that. It should show a few images of old, rusty, totally worthless cars, each with a price tag of "40000" (no currency) on it.

We tried to find something good-looking with Google, but had no luck. Who could help?

hope this helps stir the creative juices a bit more in everyone.

done in fireworks - but i'll tidy them up in illustrator, kerning the letters, etc. if these pass approval.

i can still move things around if anyone wants to make suggestions. or change colours, etc, etc.
WOW! Good work! Could you make the bird look a bit more like "I'm having fun here"? :)

I use Windows 2000 Pro (don't like XP that much)

Can I ask why? (Just curious). If it is the 'blue theme' that can easily be turned off, and you can revert the Start Menu etc. so it all looks like 2000.
Yeah, I know, but when I decided what to use for this PC XP was still waiting for SP1 and I prefer an OS that's most stable and secure for the user. There were some other reasons too, don't remember right now.

I'm curious: did you just 'accidently' find this discussion or did you use Google (Alerts)?

I have the same question about DelayExec,  which is free.   Any experience?:

http://www.rjlsoftwa...e/utility/delayexec/
Well, obviously it's completely different, since DelayExec has no GUI... DelayExec might come in handy in combination with AutoHotkey or other scripting tasks, but I would never consider that to manage my startup folders - did you really read my first post? :)

btw i can easily see some flash animations of little simple cartoons of that bird mascot.
you know like just him traveling from one country to another, delivering a coin donation :)
I see the bird picking up coins from one country after another, dropping all that cash over the DC headquarters then :D

...a mouse(r) would run outside to collect it and start coding then ;)

Have the "O" that is being replaced be in "com," not in "donationcoder," because it is hard to tell what the word is (for those unfortunates who aren't already familiar with the word).
No, that's the reason why I said it should say DonationCoder instead of DONATIONCODER.

although there is some "truth in advertising" in using a picture of a poor programmer on the street begging for donations in a cup to pay for programming, i think we should aim for a more "optimistic" image.
Hehe, exactly my thoughts! :D

Ok, here's my idea:

http://img366.imageshack.us/img366/2673/donationcoderideawithcoin2ver0.png

It's based on Kniht's idea and of course someone with REAL graphic skills (that's not me :D ) needs to work it out. I chose a tiny colibri with a big coin to say:

"At DonationCoder.com even small donations help to accomplish more."

Do I smell a slogan contest coming up?  :-*

btw: a colibri is a hummingbird :)

It's old school, however. Based on the powerful, but venerable Norton Commander it's for those of us who were weaned on DOS & if a mouse was ever spotted next to our computers we knew it was time to set out traps.  8)
:D

I'm using keyboard only whereever possible, but still prefer programs with a nice UI, that don't look like coded in 1992 ;)

Icons, menus, and toolbars can all be custom-crafted to taste. All hotkeys are changeable. It supports skinning by programs such as WindowBlinds & StyleXP. Its looks can be changed to suit one's fancy.
I use Windows 2000 Pro (don't like XP that much) and don't want to use WindowBlinds. So there's no way to improve the look, right?

You should do a mini-review to wake our interest in that, keep it small like I did for Locate here if you like: https://www.donation...85.new;topicseen#new
