nice find f0dder.

Does anyone have any insight about why this might be happening?

sounds like it's viewing the space in the path of "C:\Program Files" as a separator.  An old program might do this, or maybe a registry setting that has no quotes around the path?

Short but useful article for you with indie game developer aspirations.

So if you don't have the personal resources available to fund a game's development, what are your options? Unfortunately, there aren't many outside of either finding a publisher to help you or trying to scrounge up some venture capital funding. But here are a couple less-obvious ideas.

General Software Discussion / Re: Software for n-up photo printing?
« Last post by mouser on January 18, 2010, 03:57 PM »
my cheap canon inkjet printer came with a delightful free program (Easy-photoprint) for printing photos in various n-up configurations on different sized paper, etc.

ProcessTamer / Re: 2 copies of same app running
« Last post by mouser on January 17, 2010, 12:55 PM »
i guess i can see several cases where being alerted about 2 processes of same name running would actually be useful, as a signal that something is wrong. maybe i will add this to the next version of Process Tamer.

lets try to see if #1 and #2 can both be solved by editing your configdir.ini file in the FARR program files directory and setting it to store the data file where you want it to.

#3 someone reported, i have to look into it.

#4 i suspect is a windows7 "feature" that may not be possible to fix.

no idea, sorry.

Living Room / Re: A programmer`s appeal for donation (not me :))
« Last post by mouser on January 16, 2010, 10:51 AM »
it seems one of his big problems is hosting costs.
DC has always been willing to provide free hosting for freeware/donationware coders.  he can email me at ([email protected]) if he needs hosting.

Living Room / Neat Indie Graphic Novel about Phone Phreaking/Hacking, etc.
« Last post by mouser on January 15, 2010, 09:35 AM »
Ed Piskor wrote in to tell us about a very cool project he's been working on.. A self-published LONG graphic novel called "WIZZYWIG", which is published in multiple volumes.  It's fiction, and follows the life story of a phone phreaker/hacker, but seems to be based somewhat on the life of Kevin Mitnick.

You can actually download several hundred pages of it to read in PDF format -- but if you like the stuff and want to support the author, be sure to purchase it.  I can't wait until more and more authors are creating and selling their own stuff.

VOLUME 3: WHEN WE LAST SAW KEVIN "BOINGTHUMP" PHENICLE, HE DECIDED, RATHER THAN GETTING ARRESTED FOR VIOLATING HIS PROBATION, HE WOULD VANISH. NOW HE IS ON A TURBULENT RUN FROM THE LAW USING HIS HACKING PROWESS AND INGENUITY ON AN EPIC ROLLERCOASTER RIDE OF EVENTS. KEVIN DUCKS THE AUTHORITIES AT EVERY TURN, ESTABLISHES FALSE IDENTITIES, RIGS RADIO STATION CALL-IN CONTESTS FOR FUN AND PROFIT, WIRETAPS SPOUSES, SETS UP PHONE SERVICE FOR PIMPS AND SACRIFICES HIS SANITY ALONG THE WAY RESULTING IN SILLY MISTAKES THAT PROVE DANGEROUS.

ProcessTamer / Re: 2 copies of same app running
« Last post by mouser on January 14, 2010, 01:51 PM »
There is no option in PT to do this.. And if you can't close the app even with task manager it sounds like something else is wrong besides just two copies running.

UrlSnooper / Re: Can't sniff any packets?
« Last post by mouser on January 14, 2010, 10:19 AM »
It sounds like URL Snooper is detecting the adapter.. i'm not sure why it wouldn't be working.  Is that in fact the adapter that you are using in your computer?

I can't find a way to exclude directories
you can do this easily.  go to the search folders tab and edit a directory entry and specify subfolder patterns to not search.

Find And Run Robot / Re: Feature Request - Sticky option
« Last post by mouser on January 13, 2010, 12:30 PM »
you can also:
  • lock the launch history list so that it doesn't change automatically when you launch new things.
  • drag and drop new items into the launch history list directly.
  • set farr to come up showing the result of a specific alias result list (and different lists depending on the hotkey).

Screenshot Captor / Re: Is it possible to capture a RDP (remote desktop) session?
« Last post by mouser on January 13, 2010, 11:09 AM »
but all hot keys presses (prtscn, cntrl-alt prtscn, etc.) I tried were not "seen" by PC1 so SC is not triggered to take a screen shot.

you know this raises a really interesting question.  is there any way in RDP or the virtual machines, to define some hotkeys that should break out of default behavior?  ie not be sent to the remote machine, or vice versa?

Find And Run Robot / Re: Feature Request - Sticky option
« Last post by mouser on January 13, 2010, 10:52 AM »
i think what he is asking for is a way to make one found result always show in the list when you bring up farr.
for that, just launch the result once and it will end up in the launch history where it will show the next time you bring up farr.
you can even go edit the launch history and give it a really high score so it never loses it's position there.

you shouldn't have to use any compatibility mode, it's run fine on all Win7 installs I've heard of.

Some thoughts:
1. might it be some security software you have on your pc blocking it?
2. did you run full installer to install it?  if so then it can't be that the executable got corrupted.
3. you could try renaming the installer .exe to .zip and unpacking it manually somewhere and running it from there.

LaunchBar Commander / Re: Unable to save file
« Last post by mouser on January 11, 2010, 09:03 PM »
Tried the Evaluate Tree Consistency, but nothing happened.
it shows its summary in the status bar -- if it didn't complain then it didn't find anything wrong.

try this -- do a save as, and specify a simple file name in some path under your MyDocuments.
then after it gives you the error -- go look in that path and see if it created any file at all.

other than that.. exit the program, restart it, and try another save as and let me know if it's always giving that error.
i can try to build a special debug version to help us pinpoint where the problem is..

if it gives that error even after you restart, then it sure sounds like its having some trouble getting permission to write the file.

seems like today is the day people are having trouble with my software.. wonder if its something bad i did in a past life on this day
i think you had the right idea -- exit the program then delete the ini config file (if you are on vista or win7, make sure you delete the copy that will be in your MyDocuments\DonationCoder\DesktopCoral\ or similar folder)
