Wonder if anyone's in need of a program that says "Hello World!"?

Check with the SETI folks. They may know someone.  :P

Considering I am working on creating and parsing XML documents in Python as we discuss this, I think I could probably manage that.

Maybe I could work on a level editor in parallel. If I could get it done in time, great, but if not, it would at least allow Deozaan to concentrate on the core game.

Give it a try on your own or I would be very happy to have some help and collaborate on a game with you. I am just starting to get familiar with OOP so if you know how to write custom classes and things like that, your help would be very... uh, helpful.

That sounds like a good plan. I can probably get up to speed quick enough to help out with some of the coding. Have you ever done a collaborative development project before? Are you skilled at version control, merging, etc.?

I don't know Jack Flash. Do you think it would be possible to go from Zero to Competition-grade Flash game in time? I did something similar with Torque Game Builder for the Accessibility Game Contest, but I don't know if that was a one-time fluke or if it is repeatable with Flash. Can any of our resident Flash experts chime in with some of their thoughts? Are there any freeware or open source tools available to make building Flash games easier or do I need to fork out hundreds of dollars to Adobe?

There are several third-party software programs that will do this, but they will cost you money and you will probably only use them once. However, Microsoft has a way to transfer a bunch of stuff, to include Outlook Express stuff, to a new computer.

I have removed Copernic from my computer and have X1 sitting on my computer waiting to be installed. Maybe this will be the spark. I'll try to get X1 installed by the weekend and grab the alpha of FARR 2. I'm sure we could get something implemented if mouser wants to.

Found Deals and Discounts / Game du Jour
« Last post by tinjaw on January 04, 2007, 08:45 AM »
Following in the footsteps of Bits du Jour is Game du Jour

What is Game du Jour?

Game du Jour is the first “One Deal a Day” website for casual PC games. Every day of the week, GameDuJour.com sells one popular downloadable game at a steep discount. But the clock is ticking and each deal expires at the end of the day.

Visitors to GameDuJour.com can download today’s game, try it and buy it at a big discount until midnight Central Time. Then it’s a whole new game — the clock is reset and another game is available at a bargain price.

To foster relationships between gamers and spur communication, Game du Jour offers a community area in which anyone can join in the fun of discussing the current game and sharing tips and tricks.

Game du Jour, a Silicon Valley start-up founded by Dr. Philippe Piernot, is a marketing and distribution partner to game developers, giving those companies the opportunity for a rush of sales and heightened brand exposure during their products’ 24-hour lifecycle at GameDuJour.com.
What kind of games do you sell?

We sell casual games for Windows such as solitaire games (e.g. Freecell, Mahjong etc.), puzzle games (e.g. Sudoku, jigsaws etc.), card games (e.g. Poker, Hearts etc.), classic games (e.g. Chess, Checkers etc.) and arcade games (e.g. PacMan, Arkanoid etc.)

Living Room / Re: Anyone know about installing Ubuntu Linux on a new machine
« Last post by tinjaw on January 02, 2007, 05:47 PM »
I'm sure that Ubuntu will install, you just have to get the correct video drivers. If you have 6.x, then work with that.

Start a fresh install and when it gets to the first prompt you can hit the function keys for help. There will be options to override the autodetection of various hardware. Try starting with the generic VESA driver and see how that goes. If that doesn't work, I can help you and we can get you going. We'll probably have to do some searching to see what driver people have been able to get running with your video card.

Also, what is your experience level with Linux?

not all registrars offer custom DNS services. Things are changing as things get more competitive.

I got your PM, jamjam153. I'll get to it soon. No time now. Working on my game. I'm only here during a build break and a snack. :-)

Asteroids of Orion - v1.0.0 - December 31, 2006

Final submission version for Accessibility Games Contest!
One-Click Game: Core gameplay, levels, menu, high score list.

WHAT IT DOES:

A one-click version of Asteroids, placing you in command of a
nuclear-armed, nuclear-propelled spacecraft!

Press the spacebar to fire a bomb; release the spacebar to detonate
the bomb.  The distance between the bomb and your ship determines the
amount of thrust the bomb provides to the ship.  The distance from the
bomb to the asteroids determines the damage done to the asteroids.

Remember: We guarantee that each of our spacecraft contains at
least
1.3 megatons of Nuclear Fun - or we'll return every Zongfrib
you paid!

We're getting down to the last day here and I admit I am not as far as I would like to be. -- I did lose 12 hours to food poisoning though, so give me a bit of a break here folks.  :P

hamradio helped me out again with some stellar graphic work on the life icons and the hitpoint icons. I've also got place holders in there for a splashscreen and an about screen.

I can still use some bug testers. Especially as I throw in some surprises over these last few hours.

Build Beta v. 0.4.2 is now available for download.

Yes, you can do this. It may seem a bit complicated at first, but once you do it, it becomes second nature.

* You registered a domain name and that company is the one that controls what is entered as the name servers for that domain.
* You need to get your own name servers. Either use some free ones, rent some, or run your own.
* You can then create all the A, MX, CNAME, etc. records you need to point to the servers/services/hosting providers you have.

If you PM me, I can help you with any of this. I do this all the time.
