I'll just need to take CHS for a test drive, as I'm curious about those rules you mentioned. Though I wouldn't want to defeat the unconscious backup function.

You can stop it deleting anything.
I do remember having some performance issues some years back when I had everything being saved (unfortunately I cant find any record of it). I think it better as mouser says to group older clips in folders maybe by date.

hi skwire
havent used this in an age, so I may be doing something stupid :D

Screenshot - 2016-10-03 , 14_40_25.jpg

as you can see, it's 14:40, but Anuran is showing 02:40

In Options, timestamp for titlebar is listed as:
yyyy-MM-dd hh:mm tt

Not sure what the tt is there (it not listed in the 'Tokens')

An Anuran restart didnt make any difference

General Software Discussion / Re: WinAntiRansom lifetime key from WinPatrol: $15
« Last post by tomos on October 03, 2016, 03:55 AM »
The new license type is no longer a lifetime key, but an annual subscription.

wondering how that affects owners of lifetime keys :-\
They do say (from your link above Curt):

Does this mean you are going to have to want more money from us to use WAR?

NO

If you own a license for WinAntiRansom PLUS all you need to do is download the upgrade and you get our AntiMalware protection for no extra charge. It is best to use the tray application to disable protection prior to installing the upgrade.

Appears to respect the lifetime license -- but it's not explicitly stated

can I buy the RN3SE from ebay? or a reputable place? on ebay I find 'china version' or 'singapore version' or whatever, I want it to be in english and work in the uk!

oddly enough, the best and safest-looking offer on ebay.de is from a UK supplier, presumably they also sell on UK ebay

http://www.trustedre...-redmi-note-3-review

you're being a bit silly now:
they say the screen is 'OK' -- *not* 'bad' as you quoted -- and while not clearly stated, they are obviously comparing with $400+ phones.

It seems to me you should get something less complicated --
their "12 Best Android Phones in 2016" have a couple of recommendations that wont break the bank:
http://www.trustedre...id-phones-1_round-up

edit// and with the above recommendation, I dont mean to be patronising: I am also considering something that will require less, eh, thinking ;-) (and as said above, I'm not in any rush with a purchase anyway)

also, I read the screen is bad, any opinions?

Link?
there's lots of video reviews, especially out of India, on youtube -- I havent heard anything particularly negative about the screen, but maybe it depends on what you're comparing it with?

Think I'll save my pennies for the RN3 SE (kate), since I travel overseas it'd be pretty close to the perfect phone at a good price point, (if only it had NFC also).

can I buy the RN3SE from ebay? or a reputable place?

why not buy it from 4wd's link?

thanks 4wd
you're a mine of information :D

For me, MIUI just plain sucks - it's why I flashed my RN2 with something else. Plus the amount of screwing around to remove all the tracking, so being able to remove MIUI comes pretty close to item number 1 on the list w.r.t. a XIAOMI phone, (ie. hardware is good, the OS sucks :) ).

I know you must have done that a while back, but out of curiosity, what did you replace it with?
I had misunderstood your earlier post and thought that having MIUI was an advantage, but IIUC now, the advantage lies in being able to easily remove it :-)

So now the machines cost -- at the low end -- nearly nothing, often still include scanners and enough onboard smarts to be able to function as a standalone copier and all sorts of other stuff and, barring the sudden realignment of the manufacturers into the charity sector, apparently it's unreasonable of them to try to make money from their customers.

that's become a bit of a vicious circle for everyone -- us *and* them. If they put up the initial price, people wont buy.

HP were doing quite a good job recently, IIRC price-per-page for many models was a lot cheaper with HP inks than the competition (with own-brand inks). But people still go for cheaper replacement inks, many not even researching or caring: the cheapest please...

I do it myself (with Canon). I usually buy mid-range printers though -- without the in-built office (copier scanner etc.). And get good quality replacement inks. Not sure if Canon make money off me or not . . .

One thing I've noticed about the Xiaomi phones on offer here (.de):
with the cheaper/smaller 3S, the OS is based on Android 6.0
the Note 3 seems to be only available here based on Android 5.0

Most people recommend going for the 3, as it's not much more expensive than the 3S. I'm considering, (getting tired of Windows phone limitations), but not in any rush, so can wait see if the 3 comes on offer here with OS based on Android 6.0.

edit// I see now that Marshmallow is available but installing looks a bit too much like work to me :-)
It may get easier, but I'll be a lazy beggar and wait & see if it's offered pre-installed on new phones

^ well, if you're going to call me on this:

I thought the versions would be the obvious, like 2GB/16GB and 3GB/32GB versions

if that is the case, why do you need someone to type 'Redmi 3' into Ebay for you?
Take a little initiative and do the searching yourself -- if you're then unsure, at least you've made an effort, and whoever is considering helping, has something to start with.

edit// maybe you thought that before you posted?
If that's the case, you could still look and see what available on ebay - if it's anything like here in Germany, it'll only be a couple of offers.
So my point still stands. Take a little initiative.
Sometimes Kalos, you remind me of those people that ask a question and request that the answer be sent to their email address which they also post...

I have to admit I was confused by the answers: if you reread the OP it gives the impression that if you download from their site, it is impossible to avoid installing sharewareonsale's 'notification' software.

edit// is it one of those situations where you have to counterintuitively click No to get the software? (I'm reminded one time with OpenCandy installer, I had to click 'Yes' to avoid installing the additional software.)

This should get you started at least:

Open CHS main window, right-click on the group in the tree on the left.
Select 'Edit group'

'Custom menu sorting SQL' down at the bottom controls the sort. Being able to speak/write SQL helps (I dont myslef).

General Software Discussion / Re: Comparative review of password managers

I've been meaning to try out SpiderOaks Encryptr.

I've been a LastPass user for a couple of years.  Recently, when Copy shut it doors (damn them) I signed up for SpiderOAK.  I had no idea they had a password manager until now and I have just downloaded it for a try out.

let us know how you find it !
