just have a way to end the level without having to restart.  A terminate current ball option if you will.

or a "restart the level" button -- this might be good too for aborting once it's clear you aren't going to be able to clear the level.

LaunchBar Commander / Re: Bug: Hint for folder icons uses wrong string
« Last post by mouser on April 24, 2010, 09:46 AM »
glad you like it :)

There is a bug related to mouseover hints for folder items, though: The hint always shows the folder path and not what I enter in the "Hint" field. Just wanted to let you know.
thanks for the report, i will fix it.

It would be great if nodes could override the caption settings, too, and not only the icon settings.
can you elaborate on this a little?

good point, i'll have to change that then before the real release..

note you can also leave the website part blank just to save and load filter settings without opening a web page.

maybe one way to address gothic's ideas and also help make things easier to find in general is to have a kind of wiki system incorporated into DC where trusted people could keep an organized set of pages updated that helped catalog stuff on the site and was a navigational aid.

I have uploaded a new beta of Clipboard Help+Spell here if you want to try it:
https://www.donation...elpAndSpellSetup.exe

To use the reverse clip pasting feature, you would first use ctrl+C as normal to copy each item in whatever software you are using, one at a time.
Then you would show the main CHS menu (Ctrl+Alt+Q then W) then select the clips from the list, and right-click then choose "Merge", and then check the box at bottom left to assemble in reverse order.

may i suggest that you not try to fix such "bugs" -- i think of them as wonderful delights that should not be exterminated.
16562
I have added the feature to Clipboard Help+Spell to let you merge clips in reverse order.. Not sure it will serve your needs but i think it's a good option to add to the "Merge Clips" function.

I will try to release a new version of CHS in the next day or so (which also hopefully fixes a longstanding rare bug) with this change as well.

i meant that every time you fail a level and have to retry it, you get one extra peg, for that level only.
on next level it starts back at normal again.

i could add that without much trouble at all -- that's a good idea; will add it, maybe release a new version next week with this feature.
16567
i dont know of any program that will do that, but plenty of clipboard programs will remember every text you copy to the clipboard, and then let you paste a whole batch of them to ms word all at once when you go to paste.

Site/Forum Features / Discussion: How can we Improve DonationCoder?
« Last post by mouser on April 22, 2010, 07:27 PM »
In a recent discussion thread of our NANY (New Apps for the New Year) event, i was a bit harsh on someone who had some negative things to say about the general trajectory of DC lately.  While I don't think that thread was the best place to talk about such things, I do think it's a discussion worth having.

So the question for this thread is, how can we improve DonationCoder?

Can I just request some ground rules -- it's fine to point out problems with the site and ways it hasn't lived up to it's promises, etc., but please try to frame your comments in a way that they inform how we can make the site better.  Part of the problem I think we always have is that this site is different things to different people, and the main goal of the site has to be to be as good as it can be for it's members.  We aren't like a typical business whose goal is the simple maximization of "profit".. We're not looking for ideas that will make the site bigger or more popular per se.  It's a bit more subtle and circular than that.

In a very real sense, the question has to be, keeping in the spirit of the site, what are things we can all do to make it more useful to all of us? And what can I and others that are willing to put in the work do to make it work better for the rest of you?

a way to avoid difficulty settings would be that each time you retry a level there is 1 added green bumper, etc.

DC Website Help and Extras / Re: Is there a newbie help section?
« Last post by mouser on April 22, 2010, 11:41 AM »
We are a very friendly and forgiving group here -- it's not that easy to start off on the wrong foot :)

In general if you post in an obviously wrong section we will just move it to the right one, so no big deal.

An autohotkey question which was about how to code something could be made in Developer's Corner, or even in Coding Snacks section if it's a request for some little script.  If it's a general question about using AutoHotkey, and not really about coding in it, it could go in the General Software section.

question: what determines whether a colored bumper turns into a special ball? or is that a mystery i'm not supposed to be able to figure out?
