The problem with all these hacks, malicious or whatever stuff is ultimately the weak and poor suffer or at the very least they see no benefit. Embarrassing some web designer or security specialist is so 'meh', it's not like the politician, head of CIA, etc designed the website or wrote the security code...

Canada remains a joke compared to the rest of the developed world.
That's all I am going to say about that  :P

Google re-invented versioning just because they could, everybody is entitled to agree with what is said in the links TheQwerty provided and I am not exactly qualified to disagree. But to me it's first and foremost google doing things just because they can.

I wanted to contact Vladonai and ask about that. Text on site and activation email seems to indicate June 23 but coupon image says November 23 like you said.

General Software Discussion / Re: How to stop forum spam ?

I want to add something rather obvious to the third point made by mouser. In addition to forums I have set up and managed dozens of WordPress sites over the years. It is impossible that every spammer or bot creator doesn't know that akismet works with minimal effort out of the box  yet years into the blogs' existence there are sometimes 100s of spam messages posted and caught by akismet per day.
My point is they just don't think, that's how you should approach spam prevention.

Only method that has worked for me is a question and answer to complete registration. Even easy question dropped spam big time.

Wikipedia or similar efforts will never find a way to remove slanted views, wrong information, etc. completely. You either have full editorial control or not (and all that comes with each set up) ... there is no real workable way that is a mix. We and they should be happy with what has been achieved with Wikipedia considering what the internet 'allows'.

When politicians and by extension people are servants to some international organization who sets monetary policy and imposes austerity this will continue.
People are fearful to part with their money when it goes to governments, which in theory - and yes in practice - they can control but when a 'public' corporation rips people off it's worth a couple of stories and a week of fake and soon forgotten outrage.

Without 'business class' (whatever that means  ;) ) internet access I won't ever bother with '100% in the cloud'. Might sound very silly or crazy but I would rate reliable and solid internet access higher than security issues as far as cloud computing goes. The reason I say that is most or all of us have been using 'cloud' for many years anyway...email, banking accessible via the internet etc. To me a google netbook won't mean storing more stuff online it just means having a managed device.

Voted.

+1 CMS too. Having said that I am personally so tired of managing them, updates breaking stuff, etc.

Some of this has to do with the end consumer too. I kind of see it as similar to the IPv4 story. The end user doesn't want to care as long as youtube videos work (or in IPv6's case, as long as you can just type youtube.com and go)
This kind of 'as long as it works' attitude doesn't create motivation at the business level.

HexBright, an Open Source Light

DescriptionJust about anywhere you can buy a cheap flashlight with a zillion unnecessary modes (high, med, low, slow blinky, fast blinky, SOS blinky... laser pointer too??). All garbage and the light will usually break on you. I made myself a light the way I wanted it; I picked the best available LED (a CREE XM-L!!!), a good rechargeable battery, built the electronics and programmed it with the only modes I wanted- high, low, and blinky. From necessity (also known as cheapness) I machined the body out of 1" aluminum hex bar stock and came up with a unique elegant look with a surprisingly very comfortable grip...

I can't believe the number of articles I read that relate to this subject that don't mention Live Messenger. To me they are 99% overlapping. I see it as MS taking on something to reshape to its existing product, improve, integrate, etc..

(In my opinion MSE is probably one of the best things out of MS, that may not say much but it really is good)

Religion must stay 500 yards away from science at all times

Physics will inch forward in grand unification, god particle, dark matter, etc. I just hope not to hear all the why spend so much on building LHC stuff.

Separate or isolate local traffic from internet traffic for security...that's one possibility. Crude but has been done.

Thank you Pierre

1- USB key
2- IQPath\Users\yourLoginName was created but now there are 2 (I have used IQ on 2 PCs so far). So I have IQPath\Users\yourLoginName1 and IQPath\Users\yourLoginName2. For example menu.dat is different between the two folders. Basically my question is, what is different in the 2 menu.dat and other files in these two folders?
3- see 2-

Thanks Pierre
