Most excellent!! :D

A HOSTS tool I tested once would leave those customized entries alone, it would just add and delete entries in its own 'section' in the HOSTS file.

Hmm, it seems that someone should code a program that would have auto-updates AND customized-entries-protection :)

:) How about my TakeABreak v1.1?

It supports user defined messages.

Skrommel
I read about TakeABreak, that's why I posted this new IDEA post: I would need a tool that won't block my desktop access completely, as useful as that may be for others :)

Hi Carol!

I used to update my HOSTS file regularly but didn't like to update it manually regularly. Is there any solution out there that allows me to fully automate the updating process?

I'd like to put it in my Autostart folder and forget about it then :)

I will post some of my most useful extensions later, for now let me just say I'm still looking for an easy extension to save my bookmarks online so I can access them from any PC, where-ever I am.

I tried to use one extension for that once but couldn't get it to work, so hints about these extensions (or easy services without extension) are greatly appreciated.

I prefer to not being forcefully interrupted in what I'm doing at that moment, but maybe a nagging popup or something like that would be nice :)

Finished Programs / DONE: script to prevent near-sightedness!
« Last post by brotherS on December 01, 2005, 03:52 PM »
Thanks to mouser I found this:

14. Prevent near-sightedness!

Poor distance vision is rarely caused by genetics, says Anne Barber, O.D., an optometrist in Tacoma, Washington. "It's usually caused by near-point stress." In other words, staring at your computer screen for too long. So flex your way to 20/20 vision. Every few hours during the day, close your eyes, tense your body, take a deep breath, and, after a few seconds, release your breath and muscles at the same time. Tightening and releasing muscles such as the biceps and glutes can trick involuntary muscles -- like the eyes -- into relaxing as well.

So all we need is a bit of code what would let the user set the interval and a way it will alert the user to do exactly what's necessary! :)

This seems not only to be healthy but would also be a cool program to mention on lots of different sites, including lifehacker and stuff.

I'm sure skrommel is able to come up with the code for this with the blink of an eye :)

Skrommel's Software / Re: Problems with Ghoster
« Last post by brotherS on December 01, 2005, 02:21 PM »
https://www.donation.../Skrommel/index.html still says "Ghoster v1.1" - I downloaded it and CPU performance really is better, thanks!

Problems:
- it now has the AHK tray icon and not its own icon anymore
- I still experience that "makes windows to stay front-most only" bug when I start and quit it with my remote script! :( :( :( Is there a way to make Ghoster.exe check for a running copy of itself when it's started so one would just have to run the exe to start AND to quit it?

I did try Autohotkey some time ago, but the only thing I needed at the moment was minimizing currently active window on hotkey. I didn't find how to do it with Autohotkey in an hour, so now using Hotkeycontrol XP, which in fact has this function right out-of-the-box. Although, I open for suggestions on how to do this with Autohotkey.
If you can't find out yourself, the AutoHotkey community is very helpful, nice forum over there too. But first, please read and reply in https://www.donation...index.php?topic=1670 :)

I'd also like to add the code to my main script, there are times when this might come in handy!

Nice layout, but does it have all the important features too? Like subscribing to topics and getting emails on new posts? Don't have the time now to compare all the details, but if it's good someone somewhere will do it soon :)

PopUp Wisdom / RAM and CPU usage?
« Last post by brotherS on November 30, 2005, 05:58 AM »
Hi,

how much does PopUp Wisdom use?
1643
:tellme: I don't think this is IdleMute... On the other hand, I don't see how another program could mess up the activation, unless it somehow disrupts the idle timer in AutoHotkey.
Hmm, I tried the 1.5 now with a much shorter interval and it works... maybe this problem is/was related to my other active AHK scripts?

When you double-click the icon it stays green and switches to red only when totally muted. But when you double-click it again it switched to green immediately, even before unmuting.
No big deal, just wanted to mention it :)

Btw, is it possible that you didn't yet update to the latest version of http://fileforum.bet...otkey&os=windows ?

Ah, cool!
1646
Hi Skrommel,

I didn't update to 1.5 yet but want to tell you about a bug in 1.4 that still might be present: in the "idlemute time frame" I set IdleMute did *not* mute the volume after the specified time. Only when I - after some hours - moved the mouse IdleMute kicked in, muted the volume and immediately unmuted it again.

I experienced this two nights in a row.

The last night I also noticed that Winamp was using almost 100% of the CPU until I moved the mouse, might be related?

i've updated the permissions to allow guests (people not signed up at the forum) to view attachment images; if it's abused we'll worry about it then.
Thanks :) How much % of the allowed traffic is the serving now using?

that's the only thing im a bit reluctant to do.
Then it would IMHO only be logical to disable internal forum uploads and just use http://imageshack.us/ instead. I hate to stumble over forums where I have to signup just to see what they are talking about.

And as I said in my first post above, it limits your ability to spread funny/great/helpful forum URLs a lot! But exactly *that* is *one* nice unobtrusive way to spread the word about DC... :(

So you are going to allow ALL users to see attachments?
