Living Room / Re: Disabling Quick Launch once and for all - possible?
« Last post by cmpm on May 18, 2008, 07:35 PM »
Yes, thanks Carol, I should have mentioned that, and was going to but i was continuing the search and forgot about it.

Although it does say that it will disable them all, i should have said it also.

Avast scans email and attachments i believe....
And downloads as well.
1629
I like Avast.
It's better then AVG imo.

It doesn't do a full scan every day or on any schedule.
But when you first install it, it performs a boot scan.
Scanning every file on your pc.
Then it follows everything you do.
So no need for scheduled scanning.
Although you can do it manually if you want to.

Thanks for looking through all that Phil.
I was at work, so I didn't have time to look it up.

Good find.

I'd bet Doug Knox or Kelly's Corner would have some hacks for those things.

http://www.dougknox.com/

http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp.htm

I haven't investigated it, but they have a ton of stuff.

here's another I use

http://www.snapfiles...get/readitlater.html

it's like a whole new bookmark list, very flexible
1634
I like 'Menu Editor'.
I can remove menus to make room for more icons.

https://addons.mozil...US/firefox/addon/710

I removed bookmarks and history cause i have the buttons and they are faster.
And you can always restore the nenu item as well.

There are other menu manipulators, but I liked this one.

Windows Media Player will burn audio cds.

This is what my son uses and he uses it a lot and works with the college radio station as well.

Here's an interesting one and one I could make use of.

It does add a toolbar though.
It can be hidden though.

Ignore the prompts to register with version tracker.
It will download.

It's 8 years old but still works fine.

http://www.versiontr...n/moreinfo/win/13212

The program is cool, but just wanted to know if there is a software which does the animation AUTOMATICALLY, given a photo or a sketch, without the requirment to do all the drawing??

Check this out and see if it's close to what you want.
Also check the links section.

oops, sorry, it's been suggested.
But still the links may lead to what you want.

I believe this is quite unique to include multiple users, file and screen sharing.

I'll have to check it out.
Just gave the link to someone who would be in need of such a free program.

Thanks Steffen, this will be most useful in many ways.

interesting,

When I first grab it all the links work in Thumbnail Grabber.

But if I close it and open it with Thumbnail Grabber then the links don't work.

So in the preview or right after the shot the links work in Thumbnail Grabber. Till you close it.
-
Now in SiteShooter the links don't work either way.
Because for one it won't open in SiteShooter.

Unless I'm missing something.

Cuz I just can't leave Thumbnail Grabber up all the time after shooting just for the links to work.

Both nifty programs imo.

you know it's so much of a difference in how many good free programs there are compared to to 15 years ago it's crazy man.

Damn straight, you are a prospect, using the net.
A targeted consumer with money to make others rich.

I figure most everything is readable on the net

the only agreement that seems to pass the test is not giving your e-mail to other companies

so the rest is fair game it seems

especially free services

If I'm a specific target then i better have nothing to hide!

This should be in the eula-
FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT.
User is entitled to know exactly what we are doing with what we know about you, in writing.

It could be a blog or website or something.

Personally I think nothing is "sacred" on the net.
Any code can be cracked.

You could also make a folder with the program shortcuts you want and dock it to the side of your screen.

There should be a title bar folder but there isn't.

Curt's suggestion for launchers is a good one.

It should be able to open programs and not just folders.
From the help menu-

This window pops-up when you click on either the New Item… or the Edit Item… button of The Favorites Tab. Here you can set properties for target text, or the shortcut you're creating. For complete details of how to edit item Properties, see the New Item / Edit Item Dialog box help topic.

Target text or shortcut
Enter one of the following into this field:

v      The path to the target folder (where you want the file box to switch after you select that item from the Favorites menu). You can either type in the path or click the Browse for a Folder button to select it from a window.

v      The path to the target file or document. When selected from the Favorites menu, this item opens that file (in any File|Open boxes) or (in File|Save As… boxes) it saves your current document using that as the filename. You can either type the name or click the Browse for a File button to select an existing file name from the browse dialog.

v      Enter any text that you want, which FileBox eXtender enters into the file name part of a file box, and then press the OK button for you to try to open or save the name immediately. You can also type a file filter expression, for example *.ZIP to list all ZIP archives, or *.TXT to list all text files.

v      The path to a program you would like to run from this item, when selected from system tray menu, or from a button on Explorer window. If you would like to add command line parameters, enclose the program path and name into double quotes, then follow to enter parameters. For example, to start Notepad.exe file and open a file named test.txt in C:\ directory, enter here:

    "c:\windows\notepad.exe" c:\test.txt

while to start empty Notepad window, it is enough to enter:

     c:\windows\notepad.exe

(double quotes are not needed in this case).

Item description
Into this field type:

v      The text (title) that should appear in the Favorites menu to describe this item.

v      FileBox eXtender automatically recognizes if the target text is a valid path to a file or folder. If it is valid, FbX creates system shortcuts to them. These display as small documents or "folders with a heart" icon in the Favorites menu editor. Or it will display them as text items (listed with a T icon in Favorites editor) if Target text or shortcut does not contain a valid path to a file or folder.

Cooliris does basically the same thing.
If there are differences maybe someone has tested both.

So...what does SP3 do?

I think I'll wait and see some feedback.
But I haven't looked for any yet either.

Will it make unwanted changes also?

http://www.versiontr...n/moreinfo/win/13212

This will break down the animation frame by frame and let you remove any frame that would have links in it.
If that is the problem anyway.

there will be a prompt to register with version tracker but you can ignore it.

I don't think it will do batch editing, but i haven't tried either.
