nothing to apologize for at all.. but it's hard to tell exactly what you are asking or saying or why it's NSFW, and why this is in General Software section.

the only problem i wish for your posts paul is a bit more conciseness and structure laying out the point you want to make or the question.. otherwise i think we all just have a hard time knowing how to respond.

Living Room / Dell knowingly shipped millions of defective computers?
« Last post by mouser on July 02, 2010, 01:50 AM »
This is not cool -- looks like we are talking about millions of pcs that were defective.

Documents recently unsealed in a three-year-old lawsuit against Dell show that the company’s employees were actually aware that the computers were likely to break. Still, the employees tried to play down the problem to customers and allowed customers to rely on trouble-prone machines, putting their businesses at risk. Even the firm defending Dell in the lawsuit was affected when Dell balked at fixing 1,000 suspect computers, according to e-mail messages revealed in the dispute.

Amazon's Kindle DX (9.7 inch screen) just got updated hardware and a price drop (from $489 to $379):

It's not the perfect ebook reader i've been waiting for (i want a smaller screen and faster page turning), BUT at this price it's very tempting to buy one and plan to replace it in a couple of years..

I'm just trying to figure out if i should hold out a little longer for something closer to what i am looking for -- if something is just around the corner.  if i knew nothing better was going to come out in 2010 i'd probably go for it.

Thoughts?

glad you like it

ok it sounds like what you are describing is the smoothing that is enabled by default when viewing images at non-100% zoom.

this has no effect at all on the true file quality that is saved or printer, it only effects viewing at non-100% zoom level.

however you can turn it off or configure it:

I can recommend as a good advanced/reference book:
http://www.amazon.co...anagan/dp/0596101996

And I am a huge fan of the Cookbook series as a way of finding example code:
http://www.amazon.co...oodman/dp/0596514085
http://www.amazon.co...helley/dp/0596806132

But those are probably not the best books for actually LEARNING javascript from a non-programmer perspective.

Some beginner books that have high ratings on amazon:
http://www.amazon.co...ollock/dp/0072131403
http://www.amazon.co...-Keogh/dp/007226134X

amazon.com is a great source of reviews and ratings on books.

its just so that the user doesnt erase and forget these common hotkeys; you can always disable them and create new ones with same hotkey triggers.

I really need to add some text somewhere saying to right click to add -- i'll bet most people don't realize they can add their own.
16047
Great question..

I believe it is possible to use Python to make a plugin for FARR using ecaradec's FScript.. but i'm not sure exactly how.
Let me also say that i think having a good python plugin example (especially one that used sqllite) would be sooo useful for future farr plugin writers.
So i really hope you follow through on this.

DC member ewemoa has recently written a lua wrapper to make lua farr plugins but he is still testing it, and he and i have talked about possibly making a python version of it as well, that would work a little differently than ecaradec's Fscript wrapper.

Just something like "Help Request: Php files on Apache server not loading right"

it doesn't have to be perfect -- but hitting the 3 main points:
  • Looking for assistance
  • Php
  • Apache

would go along way to making the thread something that someone with similar problem would find and think to read.

ps -- just a pet peeve -- when starting a new topic, can we all make sure we try to specify topic titles that will help people searching identify the topic contents.

Of all the things i worry about in terms of government overstepping it's bounds, worrying about them shutting down the internet or part of it is not even on my radar.  Any reasonably sized entity/company/group can take down almost any small website at will with a distributed denial of service attack, etc.. and persecuted/underground groups will always be able to pop up somewhere else.
