re 5 the option worked fine though with version 1.03 it took a while and a restart of the program to display anything I believe it crashed.

Re 3 This has never worked and unchecking and rechecking etc it never worked for me.

Just to rule out the thumb drive, would you mind trying this from an SSD/HDD on your computer?

I Love EpCheck as it is but have a few suggestions.

1)The  website TVDB.COM mentions the Air Day, Air Time, Network on the first page for each series example = TVDB.COM Almost Human This data could be retrieved and displayed hopefully in the Weekly Tab and in the Series Tab. The second Column in the Weekly tab appears to be unused and could hold the data Air Day, Air Time, Network, of course the Weekly Tab only needs Air Time, and Network. The area just after the Air Date column is blank space/ empty column.

2) Series Tab could highlight current episode, or similar to Weekly Tab it could highlight Past, Present, & Future thus all previous episodes, seasons could be ignored since all would be red.

3) Currently EpCheck opens in the Series Tab, an option to open in the Weekly Tab would be great.

4) Minimize until update complete would also be a great option, as would start Minimized.

5) Default color code could change to RED = Past Green = Today Blue = Future this follows the light spectrum roughly, and green = go of course. (I have changed using options already, just a thought.)
-kalvanotherwhen (January 06, 2014, 05:10 PM)

I'll answer your suggestions in order:

  • Yes, you are correct about that data, and I haven't added it (yet) for two reasons: 1) I haven't decided WHERE to put that data.  2) If I add the network time, it stands to reason that folks will want that time converted to their timezone.  To see why I'm hesitant about that, watch this video: https://www.youtube....re=player_detailpage
  • That's a good idea and one I'll see about adding.
  • It's there in the Options tab.
  • Hmmm...I never intended for epCheck to be one of those apps you keep running at all times and I don't like apps that don't start up right away.  That is, I'd rather have an app start up, appear, and then do its update business.  Otherwise, I feel, you sometimes wonder if you double-clicked properly (or however you start an app).
  • While I can appreciate your logic, this is exactly why I made this part configurable.  =]

Thank you for your wonderful software.
-kalvanotherwhen (January 06, 2014, 05:10 PM)

You're very welcome.  I'm glad you're finding them useful.

Re 3 yes and the change never worked it always opens in the Series Tab for me.
-kalvanotherwhen (January 06, 2014, 05:24 PM)

Seems to work here for me.  Do the other options work/save properly for you?

Thank you for your answer! :) I have set 10 days previous and 10 in future, that should be enough.

You are very welcome.     Thank you for understanding and I'm glad the workaround will be enough.  I've also added your site to my RSS reader.

Hi, ZoNi.011, and welcome to the DonationCoder site.   :)

Can you add option to see series from PREVIOUS and NEXT week? Also, I would prefer if it can use option "week starts on Monday", if possible.

I'll keep this in mind but I don't think it will be added anytime soon (see below).  I know it's not the same, but you could set epCheck's weekly view to display 14 or 21 days ahead.  That way, you can see two or three weeks ahead.

Until today, I have used EpGuides.com Watcher, and it has "previous/next" buttons, but overall I think epCheck is better.

I used EpGuides.com Watcher for a long time before writing epCheck (I even donated).  I think it's a great program and I never intended for epCheck to be a clone of EpGuides.com Watcher.  There were just a few things that I wanted to change:

  • Switch to TheTVDB.com for data as they have TV shows and a decent selection of anime series.
  • The main TV series listing user interface.  Basically, I wanted it like how I did epCheck's Series tab (three panes, etc.).
  • I wanted series and episode summaries (another reason to switch to TheTVDB.com).
  • I didn't like the listview hot-tracking that EpGuides.com Watcher does.  This is just a personal preference.
  • I'm not a huge eye-candy person, but I wanted nice banner images (yet another reason to switch to TheTVDB.com).
  • I wanted to make it easier to add many series in a row (keyboard-centric).

I assumed that those types of changes would have required some serious reworking to EpGuides.com Watcher so, rather than bother its developer (Ian Bugeja) for them, I designed and wrote epCheck instead.  Here are some other apps I found before writing epCheck:

tvGuide  Seemed a bit buggy/flakey when I tried it.
Free TvDB  Extremely complete application.  Maybe too complete if you prefer simple apps.

BTW, you have a nice website.  I've enjoyed reading several articles.  =]

Hi, mikemike777, and welcome to the DonationCoder website.   :)

Can you maybe add free weather sources from say wunderground.com which
can send out XML like this:  http://api.wundergro...ML.asp?ID=KMNAPPLE10

This would require some pretty thorough changes to sWeather and is not something I have plans for in the near future.  I haven't ruled it out, though.

Are you familiar with AutoHotkey at all?  The vast majority of what you want can be done easily in AHK.

Hi, zanecek, and welcome to the DonationCoder website.

After return from sleep or hibernation my laptop stops periodically refresh the weather data.
I must re-save options (without changes) to start periodically refresh again.

I did add code to fix this some time ago but I think it was for XP.  I'll test further with W7 and see what's going on.

Is there a trick to "compact" all that blank space so you can see them?

IMO, the trick is to use something like FARR.

OK, didn't see those options under Edit nor right-click so I just deleted the series and downloaded it again, with the option checked this time...   //M

Yeah, it's definitely my fault for not making that capability more (at all?) evident.   :-[

  Now it works!  Downloaded info about 7 TV series.

Very nice.  Thanks for reporting back.

Now that it works I found a thing you might want to consider changing. The "Move 'The' to the end..." option does not work if you already downloaded a series starting with 'The' without the option checked.

epCheck actually checks that by the series ID number, not the name, which should explain the behaviour you're seeing.  However, you can rename the series manually within your list if you'd like by highlighting, pressing F2, renaming, and then clicking off the row.

Thanks for the amazingly quick response.

You're welcome.   :)
