General Software Discussion / Re: Directory Opus 10
« Last post by cranioscopical on May 04, 2011, 02:57 AM »
I just discovered that my folder aliases all now resolve to C:\Documents and Settings\[path]
Thus, for example, if I enter Art as a lister path, and Art is aliased as G:\Art
DOpus 10 thinks that it means
C:\Documents and Settings\Godfrey\Art
not G:\Art

These were working fine in DOpus 9  :(

Could someone be kind enough to check that out before I contact GP Software?

Would Ath's WinButtons make a good front end?

Note: Sorry for this, but updaters should edit their "Quick Paste" group

That's better, clip sound was a little eccentric previously, due to multiple copies I suppose.

Don't be sorry! Speaking personally, I could manage this without your having to draw me a picture.

i just do my biggest jump to bounce them as high as i can

I found that firing mine from a cannon used to provide a few minutes peace — they always found their way home though  :(

Nice job timns!

Cranioscopical insisted on it.

What a swine that fellow is. First you have to implement it, then you have to draw him a picture!

(Thank you very much!)

Find And Run Robot / Re: FARR window shrinks over time

If you let it shrink all the way to 0 it will open a black hole on your desktop and a thousand real life LOLCats will pour out and be your friends for life.

One should keep everything but the kitten shrink.

In case you couldn't tell, I'm enjoying getting back into work on CHS lately :)

Then we're all having fun together

a toggle to pass the clips directly to an(other) editor could be very useful

can you explain how this would work?

Sometimes, working in one graphics program, I prefer to jump out to another.
So, say:
I'm in Photoshop
Set output editor in CH+S to something else
Set (theoretical) automatic "send clip to" toggle on
Clip something/some part
Fiddle with clip in something else, then save
... repeat as required
Set (theoretical) "send clip to" toggle off
Reset output editor to default

Or
In Photoshop
Keep output editor as Photoshop
Set (theoretical) automatic "send clip to" toggle on (this sends the clip to a new window in Photoshop; lazy, or what?)
Fiddle with clip in new window then save
... repeat as required
Set (theoretical) "send clip to" toggle off

In other words, it's just firing repeated clips into an editor of choice, activated by the simple act of clipping.
I'm aiming for a series of 'clips' each one of which has been amended.

I'm shooting from the lip here — can this be done already?

Judgment reserved on whether you're the sharpest tool in the shed

That's blunt!  :)
1610
can anyone think of other features that would be useful for image clips?

As is normal in (my) life, just when you introduce the feature that I've most wanted — did I ever mention that? — I'm so buried under other stuff that I can't give it a proper work out.  :(

You may assume, however, that as soon as you turn your attention elsewhere I'll be baaack,  :-[

For the nonce, it has crossed my mind on a number of occasions that a toggle to pass the clips directly to an(other) editor could be very useful. Of course, this comes very close to ScreenShot Captor, incurring the kind of feature creep about which Superticker was concerned. If implemented, I'd imagine it working rather like the set stack option.

What was your thought on my request for an audible alert (option) for stack on/off?
1611
It's a neat idea.
I wonder how many people fail to read the content of requesters and commit based on the image/icon alone?
Because it's cute might it fail to alarm?
Could you place the usual warning triangle beside it somehow or is that just too clumsy?
1612
Didn't realize I hid it so well  :tellme:

Thanks very much. I fear you're not dealing with the sharpest knife in the drawer  :-[

the "100%" toggle there works wonderfully but always says "100%"

Ok try the latest beta, see if it's better now.

That's excellent, thanks!

As for the aspect ratio, capture a really tall and thin, and a short and wide image to clipboard, then try changing between "preserve" and "full stretch" (option is in quick paste popup tab) as you show the quick paste popup menu.

Had tried the tall-thin/short-wide but I'm damned if I can find "preserve" or "full stretch". So, please, humiliate me and point out where they are.  :wallbash:

options for preserving aspect ratio of clips in menu
-mouser

Forgive me, I don't quite see where this toggles to affect the popup menu. Can you shine light into my mental darkness?

Also, in the viewer pane, the "100%" toggle there works wonderfully but always says "100%". Depending on the size of the pane and the size of the clip there are cases where one can't see at a glance which way it is set. For me, the "100%" implies a state rather than just a label

At the same time, may I say that I really like what you are doing with CH+S and very much appreciate the extra work you've been putting into it! For those of us with a need for this kind of thing it can save quite a lot of time and petty annoyance. Additionally, it serves as a fast "poor man's history" when successive captures are made of sequential steps in image editing (this is where grabbing additional clipboard information would really come into play some time in the future).

Thanks again for all that you're doing!

Until I see something I really want to purchase, I am not giving them anything of mine.

I do see (and admire) your point. Lacking your cool head, however, I adhere to the school of Darwin product purchasing. It's only when I see what I knew nothing of that I realize how crucial it is for me to acquire it.  :-[
1616
where's the link for the most recent beta?
is it still here (bottom of page 1 of this thread) if so, I'm okay
-tomos

Yes, that's what I've been using
1617
One can have a weekly list of what's coming in the next seven days.
1618
i could add -- a full screen/window gallery of all thumbnails in the current group/entire database.

Speaking for myself, I don't think I'd need that.
1619
i could make that title visible in clip mode too so users could customize the title.
-mouser
Don't know that it would be worth the effort, though, for most users.
-barney

I can see that being useful.
For years I have kept data in a clipboard manager; searching for it by name would be useful (image and text).

And another request for the stack operations. Would it be possible to have an audible cue with set/clear stack marker?

1620
is this something people think is important to have an option for

Not important to me but possibly a nice option.
I'm more likely to look through image clips using the main window.
1621
Can you redownload and try new version -- it will now be more aggressive about turning meta files into png files, which may solve your problem.

On a quick first test that certainly appears to have fixed it
1622
all that does is try to open the image file for editing.. have you set photoshop as the custom editor?

Yes, I had done so.

Hey!  The files are being saved as .wmf.

I'm set this way (out of the box)

   set.png
1623
Minor update uploaded to add some more buttons and info to the image clip view in the main window.

Here's an odd one.

Photoshop CS5, which is set as the default image editor in CH+S:

I can copy/paste to/from Photoshop using the usual (CH+S) methods e.g. All clips/clipboard/new, or just ctrl-v, or…
With the self-same image data, however, the button "Launch image editor to edit clip" causes Photoshop to complain "Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document".

I hate to tell you but Elder Badger is languishing in clink, thanks to some funny business with young Master Fox.
