Living Room / 3000 Days Online: 30th May 2013

Hey guys,

We are getting really close to the 3000 day mark for the DonationCoder.com forum!

What this converts to, is an amazing 8.2 years! - Yes...OVER 8 YEARS...

For something based on what was then, a very big idea, with a very small community, it is amazing to think, that DonationCoder.com has got to where it has!

DC has a HUGE reputation within the FOSS/Donationware circles, and software published here, has been highlighted in some prestigious tech magazines *(See here for example)*

Now, the main point of my post is, I want help figuring out how to help mouser celebrate this landmark!

So, who has some ideas?!

102 DAYS TO GO!*

*As of Feb 17th 2013

The topic was to discuss what browser you use and why, but we seem to have drifted into a topic there is already a thread for.

So will you STILL be using Opera now?

For the time being, yes...but I am actively looking at other solutions.

Polite Request

So we can get this thread back on topic, could further posts related to tne Opera/Webkit move, to https://www.donation...;topicseen#msg318078

Thanks!

Because, if I make it myself, if I want a feature, I can just make it, and I can make it do exactly what I want, rather than risking getting things I don't need.

As many of you know, I have always been nothing but positive about Opera, and would generally mock others (for fun) that don't use it...but now...I just don't know...Maybe it is time to finally knuckle under and work on my own rendering engine...not a simple task...but, there again...I know what I want, I know what I like, I know what I use, and I know I won't release it to the general public.

Is writing a rendering engine even possible for one man? I thought it was up there with the hardest code alive.

Does it make sense to just borrow the FF Gecko codebase for the basics and doing your own "Stephen-Moon" spinoff to just tweak the things you want?

Heh, I said that in the heat of the moment without really looking into it...turns out...not writing my own rendering engine...rather difficult it seems...not impossible, just, would be bloody stupid to try. - I think I will probably just build something in C# using Gecko or something else already built (Engine wise) and ONLY add features I want.

It won't ever be released so, licensing is no real issue for me :)

Little competitive gain and a lot of cost for Opera in maintaining Presto,

Without Presto, Opera can't be considered a competitor to anything any more.

If they adopt Chrome's rendering engine they become just one more "me-too" repackager trying to sell yet another pretty interface.

I could not agree more.  All Opera will become, is a skin, with some tiny modifications, to Chrome.  If I wanted that, I would fucking download Chrome, and make a skin for it that looks like Opera.

Fuck, this has got me major annoyed now.

Does anybody have an Opera Wand password reader...Kinda need to extract all my shit now so I can move to something else.

Umbilical cord blood is blood that remains in the placenta and in the attached umbilical cord after childbirth. Cord blood is collected because it contains stem cells, which can be used to treat hematopoietic and genetic disorders.

Definition & Collection

Cord blood is a sample of blood taken from a newborn baby's umbilical cord. It is a rich source of stem cells, which have been used in the treatment of over 75 diseases, including leukemia, lymphoma and anemia. Parents may choose to bank their newborn's cord blood against the possibility that it will be useful in the future, should the child or a related family member fall victim to a disease that is treatable by cord blood stem cells.[1]

Cord blood is obtained by syringing out the placenta through the umbilical cord at the time of childbirth, after the cord has been detached from the newborn.[2] Cord blood is collected because it contains stem cells, including hematopoietic cells, which can be used to treat hematopoietic and genetic disorders. One unit of cord blood generally lacks stem cells in a quantity sufficient to treat an adult patient. The placenta is a much better source of stem cells since it contains up to ten times more than cord blood.[3] Some placental blood may be returned to the neonatal circulation if the umbilical cord is not prematurely clamped.[4] According to Eileen K. Hutton, PhD, and Eman S. Hassan, MBBch, cord clamping should be delayed a minimum of two minutes to prevent anemia over the first three months of life and enriching iron stores and ferritin levels for as long as 6 months. (Ref. "Late vs Early Clamping of the Umbilical Cord in Full-term Neonates," JAMA, March 21, 2007) If the umbilical cord is not clamped, and it is not during an extended-delayed cord clamping protocol, a physiological postnatal occlusion occurs upon interaction with cold air, when the internal gelatinous substance, called Wharton's jelly, swells around the umbilical artery and veins.

Regulation

In the United States, the Food and Drug Administration regulates cord blood under the category of “Human Cells, Tissues, and Cellular and Tissue Based-Products.” The Code of Federal Regulations under which the FDA regulates public and private cord blood banks is Title 21 Section 1271. Both public and private cord blood banks are eligible for voluntary accreditation with either the American Association of Blood Banks AABB or the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy FACT. Potential clients can check the current accreditation status of banks from the AABB list of accredited cord blood banks or the FACT search engine of accredited cord blood banks (on their home page). Other countries also have regulations pertaining to cord blood. It is also found out that there are no problems in cord blood donation.[5]

In the United Kingdom, the Human Tissue Authority (www.hta.gov.uk) regulates the cord blood banking.

Pretty interesting...but it does beg the question...where is "Porn"?  Did the Google Gods ban porn sites from advertising since the inception of .xxx?  I would have honestly thought that would be #1 most expensive!

Is anyone here interested in (and qualified for) doing a serious look and comparison of the internals of various CMS systems?

What he means is:

Is anybody here interested in (and stupid enough) to completely lose all sense of morality, and also lost the will to live, by doing an in-depth comparison of some of the most boring, and tedious code, ever.

My input on the Opera debate: https://www.donation....msg317912#msg317912

I read your post. It's not dev's fault when even a simple <div> leaves spaces and other things unlike every other browser, etc. Google various standards like div and others and add 'opera' right after it to your search query

Like I say, I have never had a single broken page.  Closest thing I have had, is with things like Netflix saying "We don't support anything other than Firefox & Chrome & IE"  I mean...I know 1.2% of the market share doesn't sound like much, but put it down to raw numbers, and you are potentially pissing off 300 MILLION+ people!

You must be the minority because I've watched a large number of people have issues similar to what I encountered each time I tried opera.

Maybe so...for me...its pretty much just "Always Worked"
