Post New Requests Here / Re: IDEA: explorer.exe auto-restarter
« Last post by brotherS on December 08, 2005, 05:22 AM »
I'd like to add code to my AHK script to always restart explorer.exe maybe 20 seconds after it died or after I had to kill it. Windows should restart it automatically, but often does not  :(

What do you think? And what would be the best way to do this?

Well, XP? use

TSKILL Explorer

And windows will always restart it...

Other Windows based systems? Download TSKILL and use the above method
Hmm, where could I download this? Couldn't find it with Google...  :(

mouser's example of downloading files and adding them to your collection is something DoubleKiller Pro can handle much better than other duplicate file finders: As you can see in brotherS' screenshot of the Scan Options page, there are two separate directory lists that perfectly suit this task. By adding the directory of new files to the upper list and your collection to the second one, DoubleKiller Pro scans the new files for duplicates and also checks if any of the new files is already contained in your collection. Imagine you have a collection of 10,000 wallpapers, just stumbled upon a new site and downloaded 100 wallpapers from it. Other duplicate file finders like NoClone would have to check all 10,100 files for duplicates while DoubleKiller Pro would only compare the 100 files against themselves and against the collection, which is obviously much faster.
Yeah, this is really a great feature! Sooooo fast! :)

might I suggest that users add the relevent details as an e mail signature
That's what I'm doing

@mouser: could you maybe create a few redirect URLs for every user interested in this? Like https://www.donationcoder.com/free10152 which would simply redirect to https://www.donationcoder.com/ but track how often it has been used? I'd like to use a few of those those URL in different places, would be interesting to see which of them (and where!) work and which not!

This is possible for cars, why not for PCs? Or is it? How? Where?

This post (topic: "Tray utility to mute speaker when you are away from the computer!") on https://www.donation...index.php?topic=1580 brought up the thought:

my request for playing the beeps was more for times when I am not playing music, but rather just doing normal activities and want to lower the volume for example if a phone call comes in etc.

Is there a cheap USB solution for this? Or at least a solution that will notify you about incoming calls or SMS?

I visited a friend and we created a DVD from an avi file with the latest Nero package. That has really nice feature for doing so, you can easily create your own menu, create chapters, name them, etc.

All really user-friendly and actually fun! Recoding and burning took about 3 hours on his 2,x GHz Pentium IV.

3) the hotkey to change volume +/- is really handy-- but how about an option like
(x) play beep sound when changing volume
You don't really want to disturb the music you listen to with a beep, do you?  :o

Instead I suggest the great, great Toaster plugin for Winamp: http://www.winamp.co...etails.php?id=138586

You can set it to display a Toast with the volume being shown whenever you change the volume, very handy IMHO and works great together with IdleMute!

Here are a few alternatives of how it COULD look:

The other users of On-Disk.com do so through the Developers portal at http://portal.on-disk.com It allows digital media and software developers to offer a CD or DVD to offset their costs and reduce bandwidth usage without reducing users.
Welcome Karlie and thanks for the details, this sounds very interesting!

you didn't include a screenshot of my favorite part, the about box!
I didn't because it has about the same size of the other together, but as you wish :D

I miss AutoHotkey and Miranda on that TOP 10 list! Really! :)

xnview has been annoying me recently when it comes to recentering its dialog and handling multimonitor, something with irfanview always handled perfectly... i'm considering switching back from xnview to irfanview.  maybe ill check out fastone.
Yes, please, take a look at the free FastStone Image Viewer (FIV) here: http://fileforum.bet.../detail/1106292852/1 It has LOTS of great options, including easy image editing. WOW! ... just install it and move the mouse cursor to all 4 desktop borders in fullscreen mode!  :)

I like FIV better than xnview and irfanview and ACDSee, which I all used myself.

because I have to use "GoSub, AutoExec1" etc. in my AutoHotkey.ini to run more than one auto-execute script from it without problems.

After searching for years for a really good duplicate files finder I stumbled over DoubleKiller. I were missing a few features (which I sent to the coder and which are realized now, thanks!) but it was very promising!

Now I use the Pro version which is blazing fast and for a limited time only you can get it with a nice discount!
Read https://www.donation...dex.php?topic=1452.0 and
https://www.donation...Discounts/index.html for details!

You can change the window size of cause, I used a not-that-big size for the screenshots:

DoubleKiller Pro when you start it up:

The Comparison Options - note that each of the 4 options there has its own advanced settings
to be more specific when needed:

The Scan Options - here you can limit your search to certain file names and/or sizes, very helpful:

The Common Options:
