Speaking of shameless plugs...

This is Angelface/Headcase.

My daughter is dating the guitarist/lead singer/song writer. When he's not making music, he's a technical writer.

The entire album is available on Amazon as a digital download.

           Get on with it!!!

Well, at least most of them have the "stfu & play" part down.  :D

I am not one of those people that can code to techno. I prefer this kind of stuff. Music I can think to.

The Post-rock page on Facebook is pretty good, and consistently delivers great music to its fans.

Here is their youtube playlist of the top 300 songs in post-rock (in no particular order):

Did you know, if you tape a piece of this stuff over the air intake vents of an evaporative humidifier, and turn up the fan speed, you can turn them into pretty good air cleaners that remove quite a bit of the dust & dirt from your air?

If it starts getting clumps of junk on it, just vacuum it off. When it gets dirty, just remove and tape on a new piece.

My humidifier has an intake vent that goes completely around it, so I need to use a big wide strip of it instead of a little square, which is why I buy the stuff by the yard at a local fabric store.

Be very careful to get the sew-in, non-woven kind and not the fusable type (that kind has glue in the fabric and not suitable for use as a filter material). Also, get the lightweight or featherweight stuff, otherwise the air won't be able to pass through it readily and it will just block your vents instead of acting as a filter.

A bonus, besides keeping the air in your room cleaner, is keeping the inside of your humidifier cleaner (motor, fan, internal filters, water, etc.), possibly prolonging its life and saving money on expensive repairs and/or replacement parts.

Replacing Snagit (after many happy years of use) with Screenshot Capture is a perfect example.

+1  I did the same about two years ago and have never looked back.   :)

Jim

+.1  ;D - I've not updated Snagit for a while and recently downloaded Screenshot Captor again. I might get there in another decade or so.

I began with I think it was Snagit v3 in 1999, then upgraded to v5, stayed there for the longest time, then upgraded to v7 for about an hour, downgraded back to v5 and kept with that before finally moving to Screenshot Capture.

The upgrade to Snagit 7 wasn't much fun for me. They really didn't add any new features I was that interested in, had rearranged the UI to make it more confusing to me, and the slowness of the application made it not worth it to get used to the new UI. I was used to hitting a hotkey and the screenshot being made instantly. With v7 I had to wait, and the waiting was a real productivity killer when I had to make a lot of screenshots.

Screenshot Capture is nice and zippy, has tons of features I like and use. I never liked Snagit's editing features and used to drag my screenshots into Paintshop Pro for that stuff. I actually like SSC's editing features enough to drag other images in there (that are not screenshots), to take advantage of some of SSC's editing stuff.

As long as SSC stays zippy, I will continue to use it. If it ever shows signs of heading down the path to becoming slower than a constipated snail, I will not hesitate to stop upgrading it and roll back to the last "good" version, but I don't think mouser would tolerate that kind of slowness in his app. It would probably annoy him long before it got a chance to annoy any of his users.

I tend to outgrow apps, rather than install complete duds.

I end up installing apps that are the best thing since sliced bread, then replace with ones that are the best thing since low carb tortillas.  :D

Replacing Snagit (after many happy years of use) with Screenshot Capture is a perfect example.

Then there is the change of how I think about and do things, that leads to things like replacing Dreamweaver with Notepad2.

Then there are all the games I just got bored with after playing them too much.

And why does all the pencils have all that pencil and just a little eraser?  Shouldn't the eraser be at least 1/4 the size of the entire pencil?  lol  At least for us that make a lot of writing mistakes.  My handwriting is horrible, but I can type like there's no tomorrow.  hehehe

I had some really horrible handwriting when I was a kid. If you waited any longer than 3 days, even I wouldn't be able to figure out what I wrote.  :-[

My dad decided to give me a little help...a giant eraser, which I got in trouble for when I brought it to school.

Can anyone explain why it is that yellow colored pencils always seem to come out of the pencil sharpener with a broken point? They could be a brand new pack of pencils and that yellow one will always have issues, always end up all stubby, and you pretty much only get to use it twice.

I think it's a conspiracy in the pencil industry. They have all collaborated and come up with a scheme to make people buy more packs of colored pencils. And by all of them agreeing on making the same color inferior to the rest, they trap the consumer. There is no way out. You can't buy a pack of one brand and a pack of another to get a full, good quality set. That yellow one will always be the bane of your existence. You will end up with shoe boxes full of every color of every brand, but yellow.

But that's not what you think it is. That's only what your dirty mind is allowing you to see.   :D

It's actually a photo of the side view of a man's bare chest, shoulder, and arm. What you think looks like the torso is actually his neck.

I've got a sourceforge account, I'll try to drop in there to lend a hand, though I may not be too up on game genres.

That's the only reason why I haven't done it yet.

Too bad they don't have a listing by genre...

I think they have plans on organizing the list by genre, eventually, when someone actually wants to volunteer to do the work and sort the list.  ;)

You are all wrong. Haven't you seen the X-Files?

Vienen_TXF.jpg

The aliens were forced to abandon the planet during the last ice age as their viral lifeforce is deactivated by extreme cold. Upon their departure, they left behind underground deposits of the black oil virus, in preparation for their return. The virus apparently contains the aliens' genetic blueprints, awaiting reconstitution until the master species returns to Earth. Whilst away from Earth, the Colonists evidently sought out life throughout the universe in an effort to subdue other species and take over the universe.[3] Purportedly, the Colonists planned on returning to Earth in the year 2012, as The Smoking Man (William B. Davis) later remarks to Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) that the ancient Mayans were so terrified that they stopped their calendar on the exact date of colonization: December 22, 2012.[4]

And just in time for the end of the world, we have this story:

The Wreckage of the Deepwater Horizon is Emitting a Mysterious Substance Into the Gulf of Mexico

Ever since it exploded on April 20, 2010 — killing 11 crew members — BP's Deepwater Horizon oil rig has been a rotting carcass submerged in the Gulf of Mexico. In related news, the Coast Guard announced tonight that a mysterious substance is leaking from the wreckage and nobody knows what it is:
An "unidentified substance inconsistent with oil" is emitting from several areas of BP's Deepwater Horizon rig wreckage, but no sources of leaking oil were identified. That's according to the Coast Guard, which oversaw BP's recent week-long mission to inspect the undersea wells and wreckage from the 2010 explosion.

There is a work in progress over on SourceForge, to build a comprehensive list of all of the games available on their site.

https://sourceforge....SourceForge%20Games/

It's a page worth bookmarking and coming back to, from time to time. And if you happen to know of any sf hosted games that aren't listed yet, help them out and tell them about it. (or if you don't want to make an account, tell me and I'll add it)

Last apartment I lived in had a window inside the shower, that the sill wasn't quite level. I used a piece of similar stuff to keep the shampoo bottles from sliding off.

You didn't by chance use a mobile app, did you App?

Nope...I used gallstones. They are quite effective at getting you to stop eating too much fat. Eat a few cookies and you'll spend hours in pain & agony, bent over the toilet, feeling like you are about to become a frog in space:(

I was really confused because when I first saw the title of this thread, my brain thought it was about Apple. Then I realized that it made no sense for Apple to lose weight. So my brain decided this thread was going to be about app103 and I was wondering why you'd be making a post about her losing weight.

I think I need a new brain. :-[

Why, yes, I am losing weight...but I didn't think anybody would notice or care enough to make a post about it.  :P

Oh well, there goes my idea of starting a company to print giant realistic guns made of chocolate.  :'(

Well your about a day late and a dollar short.  I was just looking at realistic guns made of chocolate in a magazine the other day.  The Thompson machine gun and the .45 Auto did look pretty real too.  lol

Did they look like they were made for King Kong's hands? Giant was the keyword here. Nothing so realistic as something made to actual size scale would do. ;)

I'd like to see that language ... compiled Kama Sutra  :-\ :P.

Well, he did create this some time after that statement...but I see nothing related to sexual positions anywhere in it.
