It's definitely a false positive, and fsekrit is harmless.

You can tell actually just by looking at the "Result" column which specify the name of the malware "suepected"; the flagged entries say "suspicious" or "generic", which is anitivirus-speak for "false positive".

when an antivirus tells you it found a "suspicious" file or a "generic" malware, those are weasel words and they cause much more harm than good.  we've written at length about how harmful such lazy practices are by antivirus companies, and even proposed a few things we might do to try and stop them from engaging in this obnoxious behavior.

so on the FC settings window even when you set that black and white delay to huge it still cuts it off like that?
can you send me a video of that?

and does this bad behavior also happen on non-modal windows? i can imagine this happening on a modal window which has the application main window behind it -- if this is how you are capturing them -- can you try capturing with top of the modal dialog not overlapping the main application window?

Can you guys install this beta:

Then go into the "Windows Capturing 1" tab in options and set the new "Delay btw. black+white" option to something high like 1000.


Hopefully that will fix the problem, but if not, at least it may give you a chance to visually see on screen what it going wrong.

it seems like maybe its not having enough time to refresh.. im going to add an option to slow down the aero capture process and ask you guys to test that.  at least it will give us a clue.

ok now i'm REALLY confused.  every single one of your captures looks like it's not captured properly.
am i the only one who is getting proper aero glass capture on windows 7 ?!?!?!

i think i really need to back up, since i've just been assuming it's working for people due to lack of reports to the contrary.

let's put aside the modal window issue for now and get back to basics of capturing a non-modal active window.  can i hear some reports about whether it's working or not for people?
there's no point trying to fix some modal-specific bug if it's not even working on normal windows.

I'm assuming I can get away with a good solution for under $20,000.

what on god's earth are you even considering hosting that is having you even contemplating that kind of expenditure.  and if you have that kind of money to throw around, just send it to DC and we'll find a way to spend it.


owning your own server is not really practical except for very large businesses.  because you won't have the bandwidth pipe in your house or even your business to do huge amounts of traffic, one will always end up "co-locating" in a server farm, even if you do decide to own the hardware.  so whether you co-locate or rent a dedicated server that is essentially a server that only you control, you are usually hosting it in someone else's location. you can talk to gothi[c] the dc server admin about some of this stuff, he knows a lot more about it.

modal aero dialogs are capturing fine for me on my windows 7 machine, so something more is going on.
skceB can you try to narrow it down a bit -- make sure you have the latest version of screenshot captor, and see if you can't figure out if it's all modal dialogs or just one or two, and which.  if you can find a built-in windows 7 application/accessory that this happens with it would make it easier for me to test.

Miles, there is a whole long thread on aero glass capture developments in screenshot captor.
The new version can capture these translucent semi transparent shadow effects perfectly now.

The only problem raised here is some issue with modal windows, and this should be something simple to solve.
