A few questions upfront:
  • How to determine the number of columns?
  • What's the standard file-format, Excel (xls, xlsx), CSV, LibreOffice (odf)?
  • What's the desired output? Messagebox, console, file: format?
(More to follow, probably, depending on the answers :))

What application name to use, sImgurUploader?
AFAICS, it requires a callback URL, suggestions?
And where can we change/replace the API key used by sImgurUploader? Found it, {userprofile}\AppData\Roaming\Skwire Empire\sImgurUploader\sImgurUploader.ini

I fail to understand this quest for old software.
Please try to explain why you would want to start using this very old, and unsupported, software. There are so many, much better and modern, alternatives available.

I would like to convert Borland dBASE for DOS version 5.0 to AutoHotkey_L or viceversa
Why?
There is a compiler for Clipper/dBase code for modern OS's, called Harbour project, at http://harbour-project.org, and a commercial fork called xHarbour builder at http://xharbour.com, based on the oss xHarbour compiler at http://xharbour.org

I would like to convert AutoIt to AutoHotkey_L or viceversa
Why?
AFAIK, AutoIt was created from the AHK codebase, because some people found the AHK 'language' was too unreadable in their opinion...

General Software Discussion / Re: How to repair zip files?

... remove error message “the compressed (zip) folder is invalid and corrupted"? ...
Never, ever, use Windows Explorer to unpack zip-files (the Compressed Folders feature of Windows Explorer). That cr@p-tool is unable to pack or unpack a zip-file correctly.
Always use any of the (free) archive tools designed for that purpose.

I'm personally a fan of 7-zip, and (have used and) know that peazip is working just as well, but any other compression tool should do fine.

I'll upload the next release somewhere else.
You could attach it to the original release-post, so it's stored somewhere in the forum-space, and always available as long as the forum is

Hm, sounds somewhat dodgy that you're converting to x86 systems, as x64 is quite the standard nowadays. And if you're converting to systems that don't support x64, then you must be having a whole different story there :'(

Small issue maybe; with high memory values, ProcessPiglet is reporting negative numbers:

while the overview windows show normal, positive, values:

Hm, creating a screencast of a rather static screen only showing an url and the last 'button' pressed isn't worth the trouble, imho.

I have added  a screenshot to my NANY entry 'NANY 2014 Release : WinButtonsWebServer plugin for WinButtons' though :tellme:

N.A.N.Y. 2014 / Re: NANY 2014 Release: Q-FlashCards for Android
« Last post by Ath on December 30, 2013, 02:53 PM »
Well, currently the notification is the only way to get to the screen where you answer the questions, so there is obviously no option to disable it... But it makes sense as a feature request to allow using as most of other similar programs work - answering questions only on demand. But the notification is actually the whole point and main idea - it reminds you of a word not just once a day or whenever you remember, but rather whenever you need to answer it to memorise it well.
Yep, that sounds reasonable, but then, a way to turn the whole thing off until I turn it back on, would that be feasible?

Well, your app is quite well-polished, that's no reason not to publish to the Play Store. A (Play-Store)page listing all it's features is nearly ready when grabbing all information from this thread's first post, including the screenshots.

There is one feature-request though: I want to be able to stop all notifications. I've tried turning off everything I could find, but it still pops up in the notification area. I dislike most stuff that puts itself there, unless I explicitly allow it. Currently I'm unable to achieve that

That is looking very nice.

I'd advise you to publish, with a proper description and seo wordlist ofc, to the Play Store, so you get some real exposure.

I expect to use it for learning a language too, most likely, just not Norsk or Italiano ;D, and being able to download a library of words for that language would be really helpful. Typing in 3000 or more cards on my phone/tablet sounds really horrible :'(
Uploading a card-set I created could be rewarding as well

Ps: I'll be testing after January 1st, as I'm still working on my own NANY 2014 entry :-[

General Software Discussion / Re: Upgrade to Windows 64-bit
« Last post by Ath on December 21, 2013, 08:09 AM »
You can't have a parallel install of 64 and 32 bit of Windows 7 on the same partition, as Shades already explained. In fact, the last installed OS will replace the existing OS. Separate partitions (or disks) is the way to go for this feature. It would require a reboot to switch to the other install, though.
Hassling with Hyper-V from Server 2008R2/Server 2012 is only for the not-fainthearted (IOW knowledgeable) IMHO, so instead of that, I'd advise to create a clean install of Windows x64, and run (after possibly doing a P2V conversion) the 32 bit incarnation in a virtualized solution like VMWare Player (or better the non-free Workstation) or VirtualBox. Ample RAM memory is a requirement for such setup ofcourse, but 8GB for the host system should suffice, allowing the 32bit install 2 GB with enough space for normal use.

A re-install of Windows x64 is required, and advised, though.

If there are no reasons to keep the 32 bit OS around, then that's an easy solution as well, bite the bullet and just stop running the (virtualized) 32 bit OS :D

Post New Requests Here / Re: "Merge field" function
« Last post by Ath on December 19, 2013, 04:31 PM »
Ah, now I see what happened, you downloaded the old, obsolete and 'security'-hampered AutoIt release, that tries to get the data from the Excel file by opening it using Excel and then using select-all/copy to clipboard. There are issues with that method, as reported by others in that thread, giving the exact same error...
All these issues are resolved by the completely rewritten 2.x (Java) release, that can be downloaded from my dcmembers page, referenced in that thread (typing this on the tablet, so quite difficult to add the link here, sorry).
Maybe you could try that version.

I removed the AutoIt-based files from the Excel2Html thread.

I'm getting an error: Line 574 Error: The requested action with this object has failed.
I have triple-checked my syntax, and it seems okay.
Can you share your template (anonimized ofc, PM for e-mail) and the exact errormessage & optional logfile? I'd like to debug this some more.
My current finding is that you have some conditional thingy that triggers the error, if it's actually in the Excel2Html program.

You should not have the .xls(x) file open in any other application, like Excel, maybe that's the issue?

Try downloading the files with an other browser, that usually fixes it.
