LaunchBar Commander / Option to move dock(s)?
« Last post by wreckedcarzz on February 08, 2007, 01:59 PM »
Hi everyone,
Have gotten used to using LaunchBar Commander and have one dock holding all my stuff (kinda like the Start menu that is getting dusty...). I have had fun setting it up and using it, but I wanted to shift it from the top to the left of the screen. I have looked at all options, read the help file and tried drag+drop/ un-dock it from the top and push to left side of the screen and then re-dock...
I AM OUT OF IDEAS  :tellme:
I won't really mind if it cant be docked on different sides...it would be nice though...
Any help on this?

(Updated 3/31/07)

Hi everyone,
Just wanted to let everyone know of a game I am/have been making. Maze Craze is a small 2D maze-type game where you have to navigate a ball from the start to the finish. It is great for all ages, and as you progress you meet new enemies and new situations. It has a one player mode, a two player mode, a challenge mode (single player only) and a new single player mode (testing only). Maze Craze features lots of levels (15 one player, 5 two player, 1 challenge mode and 1 in the new mode). There are no known bugs, the game is small (2 MB) and it has simple controls (with a reset button in-case you get stuck). This game is maintained by myself and will (hopefully) feature weekly updates.
Feedback is always requested, taken and used!!!
Thanks all,
-Wreckedcarzz (Brandon)

Post New Requests Here / Print Screen automaticly open and paste
« Last post by wreckedcarzz on February 01, 2007, 08:51 PM »
Hey all
Was just thinking about how I use the Print Screen button a lot and then hit <Start key>+R and type MSPAINT.exe and THEN hit <Ctrl>+V to paste my pic into the window. How about an app that, when the Print Screen button is pressed and Windows captures the screen, a program sees the button being pressed, launches MSPAINT.exe and pastes the picture into the window. I know I could just use Mousers really cool ScreenshotCaptor, but it takes too long to load on my machine and I don't use any features but "Take images of active window"  ;D. Could anyone do this?

LaunchBar Commander / Problem with "My Control Panel"
« Last post by wreckedcarzz on January 27, 2007, 08:28 PM »
Hi all,
I installed LBC on my desktop PC and have been happily configuring and using it. I have been having some computer problems/thigns I want to change in configuration and decided to give LBC's My Control Panel button a try. *Click* menu opens. *Click* Add Remove Programs FAILS to open. *Click* Menu opens. *Click* Add Remove Programs FAILS to open again. So I try to open it by re-adding it to the start menu and opening it. it works, and Add/Remove Programs opens. The same happened when I tried to open the "System Configuration" yesterday. Any help?

Living Room / Idea for graphic artists and animators

A Cody screensaver!
I was just looking around, thinking (OMG, THE FIRE!!!) and looking for the Cody desktops that I saw a couple months back, when I stumbled across the forum where Cody was made and deemed the site mascot. While reading ALL 100+ posts, I ran across a couple of animated pics, as well as a screensaver. Was just thinking- what about a screensaver of Cody walking (or flying, or whatever) and going around getting coins and taking them to like his nest or the 50 story DC HQ or whatever. I think it would be a nice, amusing, original idea (as far as I know, original).
Anyone up to it? (I use MSPaint.exe, so count me out for any type of drawing ;D).

Mainly I am either...(and this IS in order)
Gaming (Auto Assault, GTA3, Halo, Midtown Madness, Midtown Madness 2, Need for Speed Carbon Collectors Edition, Second Life, There, Street Legal Racing REDLINE, and War Rock)

Maintaining my computer (I do this after I get bored with all my games, the game I am playing crashes, or I exit it)

Instant messaging (Trillian or Gaim...hmm...)

Searching for better programs to do more faster

Searching for better hardware to do more faster

Searching for better anti-crapware software (anyone know the best all-in-one solution there is? (Windows Live OneCare is OUT, Trend Micro Internet Security 2007 and SpySweeper w/ Antivirus are battling it out for my computer and my dads credit card  ;D)

Checking my email

Going HERE to check for updates for proggys

Going to Microsoft Update to check for updates (duh)

Editing my computer appearance

and lots more (I spend as much time as possible on computers- even as boring as watching the screensaver, deleting files and watching them fly to the bin, or even just STARING AT THE DESKTOP or the clock!!!)

Post New Requests Here / Re: IDEA: an indication that "start-up" is finished
« Last post by wreckedcarzz on January 01, 2007, 03:12 PM »
A little off-topic...
when I reboot my computer (when did I do that last again?) I time it with my watch- if my computers aren't up and running in a VERY tight time period, I go insane (and take an hour or so to optimize every spec I can).
I do this in various ways with some basic tools (and some common sense), here are my startup times if anyone wants to know:

My laptop (Windows XP Professional w/SP2) boots up in about...
From shutdown/restart - 30 seconds MAX
From standby - 15 seconds MAX

My desktop (dual-boot Windows XP Home w/SP2 or Debian Linux Knoppix 5.0.1 HD install - booting Windows) boots in about...
From shutdown/restart - 45 seconds MAX
From standby 10 seconds MAX

So by the time I press the power button on either computer and sit down the computer is ready to work or play full-on.
(Now downloading Skrommel's new app (IdleRun) to see if that gives me a way for my computers to ding at me so I stop timing  :))

I have been using Taskbar Shuffle for about 6 months now and I think it is (in my opinion) the easiest app for moving tray buttons. Nice GUI, automatic grouping options and good looking...but lacks the ability to move notification area icons (I emailed the creator about this, it may be introduced soon).

ProcessTamer / Re: Possible? New idea for taming
« Last post by wreckedcarzz on December 24, 2006, 07:45 PM »
well it is coded very well (or at least functions like it), but you do have to interact with it for a short periods during startup and closing of it...and it makes a flushing noise...
but i meant like blocking it from the overall portion of the CPU, not "sleeping" the program for a time; hmm
Any other ideas?
Thanks,

ProcessTamer / Possible? New idea for taming
« Last post by wreckedcarzz on December 24, 2006, 07:07 AM »
Hey all,
just had an idea for a new way to tame processes. I have NO clue if/how it will work but here is the idea...
Process Tamer BLOCKS a process from taking more then set intervals of CPU power OR shadows a process from seeing the whole processor/whole processors power (The set intervals would be like 10%, 20%, 25% etc).

Why I thought of this idea...
(NOTE: If anyone cares to know why I made up this good (or bad) idea here is why...
A program I have for all my machines (4) have a small program called CleanUp! (obviously it CLEANS UP!) But the bad part is that on my P4 1.6GHz machine...
CleanUp.exe takes 100% of CPU power for several HOURS  :tellme:

Here is an example of the new idea working...
Process Tamer (with new options) opens via user
User opens (for my machine) CleanUp.exe
User opens ProcessTamerConfigurator.exe and edits options to have the program CleanUp.exe take 10% of the CPU's power
User instructs CleanUp.exe to start working and Process Tamer blocks it from using any mroe CPU power then 10% (so for me 160 MHz would go to CleanUp.exe at maximum).

Idea explained:
I don't know if this can be done by shadowing to the program that the processor is only a certain speed (ex. I want to run MousersGreatNewAppFor2007.exe and I want it to use only 25% of my processor. So Process Tamer would tell it that the processor/CPU is only (for a 2.0 GHz average system) 500Mhz
OR
By simply limiting the app by just blocking it off from any other CPU power.

Any way would be fine (if this could be made possible) and I am sure that other people that run on old machines that are starting to "see the light" would benefit from this also.

Thanks all,
-Wreckedcarzz

(and have a MERRY CHRISTMAS EVE!)

ProcessTamer / Re: Error upon closing ProcessTamerConfigurator.exe
« Last post by wreckedcarzz on December 24, 2006, 06:45 AM »
Mouser I get the exact same problem on my 3 machines...
no anti-spy/mal/badware programs running (including in Task Manager's "Process" tab)
only use freeware programs for those functions and know the options would not affect ProcessTamerConfigurator.exe
EDIT: And Process Tamer itself functions perfectly. The Configurator saves my settings but it still crashes right after saving em'.

LaunchBar Commander / Linux version of LBC?
« Last post by wreckedcarzz on December 20, 2006, 08:10 PM »
Hi all,
Just installed Linux onto my HD today for permanent use, and was wondering if anyone here knows how to code LBC into a version that can be used in a Linux environment? (If anyone cares, or if it make a difference, I am running Knoppix 5.0.1 from my HD). I would really appreciate if someone could/would - as the K Menu is VERY extensive (if you have used Knoppix you know what I am talking about).

Thanks all,

What's the Best? / Re: Anti-Virus Package

Quoted from above: "wreckedcarzz: systemworks 2003? pretty old.. don't you think? maybe you should try the latest versions "
Well I don't got $200 bucks a year to buy & use software that basicly has dissappointed most of us - why would we buy something we don't think is a good product anymore?

(and if you are using Symantec's software now and are reading my post excuse me but...hey is that a virus on your computer? Oh, Norton says no, so all the pop-ups MUST be good!)

Ok - it got really annoying because I waited about 10 minutes for it to close...I didn't get any error or debugging option. When I setup the bars though after a restart it says I need to setup the bars (again) - even though I had about 5 bars and saved on every bar and before closing the preferences window...
