Hm, having a data-file extension of .txt seems quite unsafe to me, even when 'hidden' inside a .zip or .gsb archive. I'd have opted for something less prone to unwanted editing, like .gst (GS-Base Table).

Hm, sounds kinda legit, I guess :o

Maybe downloading the pages to a local directory using HTTrack, and parsing those with a regular expression-capable tool?

For installation on a non-server version of Windows (like Win7 is) you either need the SQL Express edition, or the SQL Server Developer edition. The other SQL Server editions only allow to be installed on a 'proper' Windows Server OS. This has been enforced from at least SQL Server 2005 and maybe even earlier versions.
UAC hasn't been an issue for me in years, regarding SQL server installs.

Usually, you can't. To avoid the data to be 'borrowed' (aka stolen), that kind of broad selection either isn't available, or only behind a paywall. You'd better contact the admin of the site on how to get that data/information.

Peter, please use the standard quote mechanism of the forum, your use of actual quotes around the quote makes it nearly unrecognizable as a quote :o

Write a bat file that does the net use k: /d and net use k: \\x.y.z.n\share /persist=y for all drives.

But you should really consider to start using the server's name instead of the ip, as windows is perfectly capable of resolving that, even in a workgroup.
When replacing a server, just turn off the old server, and give the new server the same name.

General Software Discussion / Re: Windows moving around after monitors wake up
« Last post by Ath on February 20, 2014, 05:29 AM »
Well, with modern display-drivers and screens, it seems the entire display is inhibited when in standby/off, and Windows shakes/resizes all it's visible windows to the last, or the primary, awake monitor it still sees. And also resets the other virtual screens to something like 640x480 pixels.
I see this behavior on my dual-DP setup, where I leave the (work) computer running overnight, but turn off the screens to preserve some power. Any window I leave open is moved and resized to the left-upper 640x480 of my primary monitor :(
My current solution is to close all (well, almost all) applications, auto-saving their last window-positions and sizes, and re-opening them the next morning. Exceptions here are Outlook, that I minimize to the tray by default, and other trayed apps like SSC, that aren't affected, unless I forget to minimize them.

Haven't found a solution, other than to minimize all windows to the system-tray, to avoid this behavior. But, I haven't yet done a thorough search for this either :-[

How are the monitors connected to the computer? HDMI, DP, DVI, VGA?

« Last post by Ath on February 16, 2014, 05:49 AM »
Another approach could be like we do here: Despite the fact we have several Samsung phones and tablets, we never installed the Kies software, just let Windows install the usb-driver on first connect, required to access the memory, and install updates directly from the phone/tablet.

Well, no more vendor lock-in than laptops and such... right?
Well, yes and no, with this concept you get the illusion you can replace components easily, and it probably is true now, but come back in 3 years or so, and there are still no 3rd party components available/allowed because of license/copyright issues, and the original vendor is either out of business or no longer supporting this type of replacement modules, but you can of course buy their new product... then what's the use of even spending any energy on it? You still need an upgraded/improved/extended computer.

Conclusion: This one's not for me.
