Almost every day i have to visit my own webs for changes and my favorite webs too.
For this purpose i have the fixed tabs in firefox and a script lo launch the urls contained in a folder or in a txt file.

But all this is based in open at the same time all the websites in tabs.

I would like a software or script for :

Open a website from a list in a txt file and close after x minutes.
The possibility to pause the script for tasks
Better all this in background and with a browser of my election.

I think all this is possible with an automation environment like iMacros, but I would like a more assisted script is possible.

This thread disturbs me a little because I purposely split my browsers so at low levels I fix certain problems. I have noticed more and more how my "Youtube suggestions" are being populated with stuff.

I'm stuck at prob 1, why are you/you-plural using multi browsers and then trying to track it!? It feels like a "Work wants X, I want Y, then Z shows up somewhere" type problem but I'm saying we're missing a backstory here.

I use several years ago the alexa toolbar in firefox giving me an aproximation of the relative web position in the bottom bar.
DC is 88318 by example.
But suppose I would like keep a control of positivon of DC across time and a log file or similar.
I would like a tool for this.
Able to take control of the position of a web in a log file. An even a group or several web pages.

Ok, I found the problem. Or several problems really. FFBookmarkUnpacker failed on nested subfolders, separator lines and in case a bookmark without a folder was first in the bookmarks.html file. A bit embarassing but in my defence I made it a long time ago mostly for my own use. Anyway, I fixed the issues and put up an updated version that should fix those problems, http://nod5.dcmember...ookmarkunpacker.html . Let me know if it works.

BTW you can now edit your previous posts above and remove the bookmarks.html snippets if you want to for privacy.

My path has this format (the xi3je3ww.default part is the name of a folder not a file):
C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xi3je3ww.default


Have you doublechecked that there is a file named bookmarks.html in the profile folder? (IIRC firefox writes to that file when the browser closes so you may have to close and restart Firefox in order for that file to appear.)

If there is a bookmarks.html in the profile folder then perhaps there is some language dependent variation in syntax that trips up the script. Could you post a small snippet from that file, a few lines that shows an url or two would be enough.
May be. Don't forget at least once the script goes well and i obtain the output folder....


Another thing to check: perhaps there is a write permission issue. Test changing the output folder to something else e.g. C:\testfolder and see if that makes a difference.
Running to try. Must be something of the sort.

In firefox forums the only related problem may be with :

I have put to true in about:config
browser.bookmarks.autoExportHTML

and have located the profile firefox folder with
about:support - show folder -Y:\FIREFOX PERFILES\PEPE

closes firefox . execute ffbookmarksunpack.exe

My first error : bookmarks.html is not the bookmark database in firefox (places.sqlite)

But for me now don't go ffbookmarksunpack.ahk . Only creates empty folders.
I have maintained the above database (places.sqlite) with a firefox addon places maintenance
i have tried in other pc with the same result.

But I could in the past with ffbookmarksunpack.ahk . So i am making something wrong i don't know

I think is time to ask for help to Nod5

At least seems i have discovered the problem with the thinking circle of the windows 8.1 cursor

It seems associated to Asus Smart Gesture Loader.

I am repeating the experience with the original ahk file but happen the same.
By some reason the script don't go in my system now.

the ini file is :

Nod5 I am having doubts with :

I have been modifying my bookmarks.
And finally when reiniate the system o execute the program I don't get the shortlinks. Only the empty folders.
I even delete the entire folder and repeat but just the same.
I only obtaining empty folders.
