Unistall tool is as fast as safarp even when safarp doesn't load icons (!).
@mouser: none seem to sort on date of install, safarp can do date of 'last use'.

And It's free (went to payware in v. 2.0, but 1.6 is free):
http://www.goldfiles...ortal.php?fileid=382

Superfast, efficient. Doesn't clean stuff like Smarty Uninstaller, just uses the app.'s own uninstaller.

ChrisSaad, I wouldn't mind to give try if that's possible. Attensa crashes outlook for me. Thanks

Just tried it. Very good idea. Nice for coding too!

Thanks, attensa looks good. I like Del.icio.us integration, but hate outlook dependency. Their folder-based view sucks (no icons, opens as outlook mail with no images by default). The 'river of news' view... well, looks like it'd take a while to get used to. and I', not sure the algorithm will be that effective. Let me make the decisions about what to read! (same problem I had with MLO, the smart algorithm never did it for me).

What's your experience with attensa?

Seems like I'm late, but here is a quick and dirty solution that might be fun.

Why not try another OS alltogether? A linux boot CD would let you test the computer for hours/days as needed. If it's a hardware, then the linux install must croak at some point. If it doesn't, then you can say that windows/drivers etc may be the culprit.

And who knows, you may even like linux :)

BTW, glad your problems are gone!

In a 2006, the growth of Ruby is spectacular!
I think that might be ruby on rails and all the 37signals momentum.

I spent 2-3 years doing perl daily, never switched to python, but ruby (as soon as it has a good math library) may be interesting enough to try. Nowadays I try to stay as high - level as possible; R is still my fave.

vim. You can map font sizes and window sizes to keyboard shortcuts.
That's interesting, i was just now looking for something like that for vim. Unfortunatelly, couldn't find any plugin for it. :(

yes, you can do things like:
set guifont=Lucida\ Console:11
where  11 is font size.

And

function! Smallfonts()
setlocal textwidth=0
set guifont=Andale_Mono:h7:cANSI
   set columns=196
   set lines=62
endfunction

map <F5> : call Smallfonts()<CR>
[\code]
I can code with fonts that small, because I like to get as much text as possible. Actually, an editor that had a two page view (or multicolumn) would be great, I kind of fake that with two windows editing the same buffer.

Hi,

I need an RSS reader. I'm currently using greatNews, but it has some shortcommings (IE engine). I'd line to have an RSS reader with firefox engine.

Another feature I need is a local copy of content (I'm often offline), and newspaper CSS.

Sage has the newspaper CSS, but no local content. Also, I don't like that items don't keep the little icons.
RSS wizz reader
see also http://www.wizzrss.com/WizzRss.php,
seems to have more features, but it has a little window (unreadable!) and not the newspaper approach. It also opens the original html when one click the links, so a lot of time is wasted loading the page.

Is there any other I'm missing? What do you use lately to read feeds?

vim. You can map font sizes and window sizes to keyboard shortcuts.
Just add a map command to your vimrc (the file that contains the settings).

I recently bought a 500GB Western Digital which is very quiet and fast. It wasn't so expensive either (~€ 200). What's cool is the LED button which shows how full the drive is :)

Some specs if interested:

hehe, time for me to make a vim plug :)
As fast as Notepad, and, well, more features that you can learn in years, see:

rayninfo.co.uk/vimtips.html
David Rayner (zzapper) 15 Years of Vi + 5 years of Vim and still learning

Available on any OS pretty much, you can work over a shell (no graphical interface) and be happy, faster than any other editor once you know the basics.

And of course, people looking at you editing code may think that you have mental powers and control the editing changes by pure force of will :)

I've read most of the classics, and while In Search of Lost Time by Marcel Proust* is my favorite novel, Martin Heidegger's Being and Time and Alfred North Whitehead's Process and Reality had the biggest impact on my thinking for the rest of my life. Both books seemed to explain everyday life and the cosmos in ways that were true to my experience.

* Proust's masterpiece can also be downloaded free at the Online Books Page.

Hi Zaine,

It seems that 'in search of lost time' is not available in that site :(

Thanks for the recommendations.

At the present time, most of the developers time has been spent finishing up 4.7 for a release within the next month. We expect, dont quote me on this thou, 2 more beta releases before we go gold with 4.7. Once 4.7 is out the door, we will see what we can do :) Dont worry, I havent forgotten my great friends at DC :)

Hmm, looks like 4.7 is out :)
Josh, will you get us a discount?

Thanks!

Thanks all.
PageAddict looks good, but I have to use something that is compatible with many browsers, and also capable of exporting to plain text (or similar) format.

That takes down timetrack as well (a pity: nice app).

BTW, for those with similar requirements, Skrommel is coding an app that may do just this. :)

This is a very good idea, I agree. Incredible what ahk can do.
I didn't even think that was possible.
Congrats skrommel.

The ahk source dies becuse it cannot find barnacle.rtf; running the exe version will create one, and the the source runs fine. Not sure if this is a bug.

General Software Discussion / program to visually design a database?
« Last post by urlwolf on January 04, 2007, 06:43 AM »
Hi,

I remember seeing some visual program (mindmap - like) for linux to help designing databases (i.e., connecting the keys that are linked in different tables, etc).

I can't find anything on google though.

Do you know the name of a program like that (for windows if possible?)
Thanks

The easiest way to swich back and forth.
I still miss the ctrl-tab tab switching in opera being a cue first in-first out; I like it better than firefox's strict list (left to right switching):

http://www.teamcti.com/trayit/trayit.htm

This little prog. provides a very handy feature : converting any app to a tray icon just holding control and clicking minimize.

If you want to reorder and hide some icons, then ShellTrayInfo is a free alternative:
http://www.codeproje...hellTrayInfo_Bin.zip

(As you see, no need to buy PS tray factory if you only need those features; I still haven't found a free alternative for the 'send keyboard combos to tray icon' feature; let me know if you find one)
