Cat-in-the-middle attack?  ;D

All those microwaves are keeping him warm. :)

He's testing out his new app:

Warm Cat In the Middle Attack Robot or WCIMAR for short

Also includes a new bitmap color modification button on clipart panel.

Nice!

But, gotta wonder about the doctor that the Canadian fellow went to see...

Multiple doctors and nurses. They never did any x-rays. The guy was walking around for 3 years, setting off metal detectors everywhere he went, and had no clue why. Doctors blamed it on a metal fragment in his bone.

That's one big fragment!

I've used pChart before and been very happy with it (PHP).
http://pchart.sourceforge.net/
and
http://www.pchart.net/

One thing I don't remember though is if it supports clickable charts.

It does support image maps, so I offered it as a possible solution.

If anyone has any suggestions for more clipart they like to see me make, to be released as add-on packs, there is a thread for requesting it, here: https://www.donation...ex.php?topic=34110.0

Well, not sure if my boss would be willing to pay, or how much, but LAMP is a must...PHP or JS or some such similar thing.

There is talk of possibly using Highcharts, so she might be willing to pay. I am basically trying to see if there is anything better to suggest to her.

Looking for a pie chart generator script for use on a website, that allows for click handling events within each slice (for displaying more info). Any suggestions?

Created a set of arrows, callouts, numbers, frames, stickers, ribbons, road sign style images, and a few other things. Some of them are already in the new beta.

Please let me know what kind of clipart you really want in the new set, or what you use from the old set that you'd like to see remade to be more attractive.

Living Room / Re: Google Keep note-taking app spotted
« Last post by app103 on March 21, 2013, 01:19 PM »
I only looked at Google Keep for a few minutes late last night, but at first glance, it's a lot more like the original Evernote (or Cintanotes) than what Evernote has evolved into.  I find that I hardly ever use Evernote any more. It's just too busy for quick note taking and not capable enough for serious content organization.

I use a combo of Surfulater for web captures and more serious note taking... and Notezilla for quick, small notes (and other stuff).

Both of these apps are on my must-have list.

I might have considered Google Notebook as a replacement for Surfulater, but Google killed it right around the time I was thinking about it. I have no plans on falling for that again.

I often feel foolish working on it, knowing that Adobe is in the same segment ;-).

Don't feel foolish! There should always be good quality alternatives to Adobe products. There are plenty of Adobe (and Corel) haters out there (for one or more reasons) that need to have someone to turn to for an alternative. No reason why that someone can't be you.  ;)

General Software Discussion / Re: 'Connect to Internet' shortcut needed.
« Last post by app103 on March 21, 2013, 12:30 PM »
I have a shortcut in Quick Launch to the connection and if I click on properties the target shows as: {BA126ADB-2166-11D1-B1D0-00805FC1270E}, the 'Start in' box is empty.
-pilgrim-online (March 21, 2013, 06:16 AM)

If you can click that shortcut to connect and it works, use the path to that shortcut file in Lacuna Launcher's list. Don't use the target info shown in the properties box, use the path to that actual shortcut file itself.

Spotted this today:

Sorry Google; you can Keep it to yourself

Seems after Reader, there are many that don't want to try Keep or trust Google not to kill it after they grow to depend on it.

Personally, the way I look at it, they had their chance with Notebook, which they killed and broke a lot of hearts. Doesn't make much sense for them to even release Keep, unless they are looking for another shot at attempting to crush apps like Evernote and Surfulater and put their developers out of business.  >:(

You could use the path to the shortcut file itself, in Lacuna Launcher. Just remember that shortcut files end in .LNK, even if you do not see this file extension visible in Explorer.  ;)

Now when you run Lacuna Launcher, it will launch the shortcut, which in turn will launch your connection.

Ian Hickson, the googler who is overseeing the HTML5 standard at the W3C, has written a surprisingly frank piece on the role of DRM. As he spells out in detail, the point of DRM isn't to stop illegal copying, it's to stop legal forms of innovation from taking place. He shows that companies that deploy DRM do so in order to prevent individuals, groups and companies from innovating in ways that disrupt their profitability

Does anybody really miss the early 60s?
 (see attachment in previous post)

You mean a time when it wasn't mandatory for both parents to work just to pay the basic bills? ;) :P

That could be considered a myth, depending on where you lived at that time. My father held down 2 jobs while going to school, just so we could afford to live in the ghetto. We lived only blocks away from where the infamous '67 Newark riots took place, and we were still living there when that happened.

Kind of reminds me of an IM I received from a friend once, where she was in a state of panic over wikipedia being down, which she claimed was causing her a temporary loss of 50+ IQ points.  ;D

It does. Even Randall Monroe says so, and he's a minor deity so you can't contradict him.

As a parent, I had this useful tool called KeepMeHeres. Whenever I wanted my daughter to get out from under my feet while I was busy doing something, I'd tell her to go ask her father for some KeepMeHeres.

As a blogger, I view Wikipedia as a giant website full of KeepMeHeres. If I ever want my readers to go away and not come back for awhile (which I really don't), I just link to something on Wikipedia. They go, get trapped, hop from article to article, and they are gone for the rest of the day.  :D

Bug:

In the popup after a screenshot is made, if you select "Save image but hide" the popup minimizes itself to the taskbar and can not be closed. You have to exit SC to get rid of it.

Do you agree with the chart that Pascal is better than C(it at least has a knife blade)?

I don't believe that's what it is saying, at all.

And I don't personally believe any are better or worse (except maybe VB). It all depends on what it is you want to accomplish and what you feel comfortable with. That said, I don't know too many people that would be willing to attempt to butter their bread with a chainsaw or cut down a tree with a plastic butter knife.

And in the chart, C does have a knife blade (the one on the bottom) and those scissors are razor sharp. (I actually own that knife, without the USB drive)
