Best E-mail Client / Re: How I set up my mail folders
« Last post by brotherS on January 17, 2006, 04:53 AM »
@ brotherS: since you also use gmail, how do you organize your mail? Do you simply put everything to archive, or you use something similar to how i do it?
I also use labels a lot, these are my most used ones:
- BetaNews (mails from http://fileforum.betanews.com/ about new versions of programs that I use)
- forums (mails from various forums about new replys/new topics)
- friends (should be obvious)
- Newsletters (the various newsletters I subscribed to)

Google Mail auto-labels all those for me.

I'm using something similar to fix wrong capitalization in a certain word, always works for me - and I type fast too.

You could try
:*o*:wasnt::wasn't
to see if that is faster for you, but as jgpaiva said, your method should be fast enough already. I suggest you ask in the forum on the http://www.autohotkey.com/ site.

I hate webmail, I hate the way it feels, it's restrictiveness.  I hate applications that have web-like interfaces.  It is always slower than something written in C++ for a computer.
That's exactly my point: Google Mail is NOT slower! It's faster compared to when you handle your emails on your PC. Been there, done that...

I like having files and folder and options and all that stuff.
I *used* to like folders too :) Then I had the pleasure to get to know Google Mail :D

My advice: use Google Mail :) http://mail.google.com/
first:  there's no IMAP so that's just out
When you *really* use webmail you don't need IMAP!
Your other URL is just paranoia ;)

Conclusion

Of course, Autohotkey's capabilities reach far beyond these simple examples. More importantly, Autohotkey features a combination that makes it a tool of choice for automating Windows: It's both powerful and easy to use. Whether you're a seasoned Windows administrator or an ordinary user, Autohotkey can make your computing life easier.

I'm a gmail believer, though I am a little uncomfortable with all their world dominance...

I'm surprised so few people ever mention 30gigs.com webmail - now that's real storage...  But then I have an account, and I've not got around to setting it up yet, so maybe that's what happens for others too.
When it comes to email I want to use only companies where I can be sure they are still around next year :)

Sure, Google Mail scans your emails and displays ads every now and then - but it's a free service! I don't mind.

Just a quick update: I added 'a few' more feeds, now I am subscribed to 37 feeds

(And no, I don't read ALL the posts from every feed, just what's interesting to me)

Others...I doubt I will use google mail anytime soon, at least not using their web interface. [...] I hate webmail with a passion. I need to have the mail on my computer.
Believe me, I used to think exactly the same :D

Read the comments in this thread once more - then try it for a week or two. It's completely different, but REALLY great. I love to read and archive mails now by using keyboard shortcuts: NOONE came up with that idea before (at least I never saw it anywhere), now I saw other sites using something similar.

I admit: One needs to get used to Google Mail, because it's so much better than regular email clients. But after I got used to it, I don't want to miss it anymore!

anyone interested in the above advert may like to see the original film that inspired it http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0094300/ 'the way things go'.
Oh, Der Lauf der Dinge (original title) inspired that? Anyway, it's from 1987 but still a great (one of a kind) short movie!

I was confused because the option to subscribe isn't available when you are writing a new post, for some reason.  You have to subscribe after posting.  A small flaw in otherwise good forum software.
Not sure about that, but you could always enable subscription for all topics you start/reply to in your forum profile.

If anyone else has tips and tricks to share, please post.
My advice: use Google Mail :) http://mail.google.com/

No more sorting of emails into different folders, you just appy labels (or use filters to automatically apply labels). Benefit: you could apply more than one label to one email and do much more. Really the best way to handle private emails right now IMHO.

I don't frequent the boards, so shoot me an email:
That's not very polite. Forums are there for forum discussions. If you didn't know: you could easily subscribe to threads and will get an email when someone answers.

i thought this was important to help people find the info they need - should we change the title from "Links" to "Help?"
or "Help and Overview"?

Thanks, nudone!

Typing Of The Dead is a crazy, irreverent game, and such madness needs to be cherished whenever it appears, in my opinion. There's definitely an intrinsic, enjoyable quality to blowing off a zombie's head by typing the words "Rhythm Method."
:D

And check out the Amazon Recommendations below too! ;D

The problem you reported is a known problem, SC has sometimes problems there. No big deal, but I also hope this could be fixed in the future. It's because SC uses a slightly buggy third-party component IIRC.

i had no idea of this problem.. what exactly is happening?
Oh?

The old problem: sometimes, after editing images, when you right-click one of the preview images in SC it won't show all of the menu entries that are shown right after you start SC.

(I'm still trying to find a way around to donate to you guys,i really think you deserve ;))

I'm not using the banner anywhere else, since i don't frequent any more forums but this one (who needs it? there's everything here! :D)
True, mouser deserves more donations for all his countless hours of DC related work.

Well, there are better forums if you want to discuss about music, art, science, books, movies, cars, mobile phones, digital cameras, etc. etc. etc.

...but then maybe I'm only interested in too many topics ;) ;D

Hi!
I recently found about Imageshack quickload, and i thought it would be just the perfect tool when combined with sc!
But unfortunatelly,my happyness didn't last long, since in sc's left pane (the one with the tumbnails),in the context menu of one image, not all options of the explorer's contextmenu appear, and the same applies to quickload's.Although i can use it in explorer,i can't use it in sc :S
Yeah, Imageshack quickload is great, especially for registered users!

Hehe :D

I can only recommend taking a "10 finger typing system" course somewhere. It's not that expensive and does not only make typing more fun but also saves LOTS of time!

2 happy smilies vs. 1 mad smilies

can someone translate for me?

Will do :)

Finally I made it.
I had to search quite a while for the key code, but it worked.
Thanks a lot
The program is really great.
But the required key code really is annoying >:(
Anyway, thanks :)
