LaunchBar Commander / Re: Pane obscured in LBC configuration screen
« Last post by mouser on September 20, 2019, 11:38 PM »
I really have to take another look at this, it's completely slipped my mind, and it should be an easy fix.
If I post an alpha version will you test it?

Clipboard Help+Spell / Re: Duplicationg Clips
« Last post by mouser on September 20, 2019, 11:36 PM »
This is an interesting question..

In general, CHS has two kinds of folders:
  • "Real" folders, where each clip is always in one and only one folder.
  • "Virtual" folders, which define a rule for clips (like all clips with a url or some text in them, or clips from a certain app, or taken during a certain time period).  Clips can be in many virtual folders simultaneously.

You seem to be asking about having a duplicate clip in multiple real folders.

What you COULD do is turn off duplicate checking in CHS, which would let you make multiple copies of the same clip and then file them into different folders..

If you add -minimize to the commandline like :
ScreenshotCaptor.exe -capture screen -minimize

would that do what you want?

Find And Run Robot / Re: Search input field Unicode support (lack thereof)
« Last post by mouser on September 20, 2019, 11:29 PM »
As you've surmised, FARR does not support unicode.  It's unfortunately an aspect of the code that would be very hard to change. :(

Was just going to say that there's been some news about this on the web today saying exactly what Jill posted.. A very unusual thing created by a windows 10 update..

Yes!

I actually have a minor update as of July 29 ready but I've put off uploading it until I add a few more features..
Give me some more feature ideas or bugs to fix so I can have an excuse to publish the new version! ;)

Welcome to the site, leftdisconnected

Your suggestions and reasoning are very reasonable.

For installers, I highly encourage signing with a digital certificate; and with executables it makes a difference in how Windows displays them, and can definitely make people feel safer using them.

Your point about "It might be useful to list this hash in the download area on your official website, but this can convey false verification if a website is hacked (hackers may change the displayed hash to match their infected package)." is valid; for small scale websites that's pretty darn unlikely though.  And one good alternative solution would be to post a hash value on a different server (like this forum), from the one hosting the file.  Whether it's worth the hassle is another matter.. It does at least increase the likelyhood that someone would discover a tampered file sooner rather than later, which is always good.

For those of you who spend time sketching/painting in digital medium, I'm curious what tools, both hardware and software, you find the most enjoyable to use?
Anyone use a drawing tablet? A fancy screen with pressure sensitive pen etc?

I ask because I inherited an older cintiq21 21 inch monitor tablet from my father -- you draw on the screen with a pressure sensitive pen.  It's old but very cool.. However it's a beast to move around and requires a computer to make it work.  I'm thinking a smaller standalone touch screen tablet with pressure pen support would be so much more convenient, if not quite as good an experience when actually sketching.

NANY is "New Apps for the New Year" -- an event we run on DonationCoder where we invite coders who hang out on the forum to release a new free program at the start of the new year -- or celebrate the new apps they've written in the last 12 months.

There are no winners or losers, everyone who participates gets a free mug commemorating the event.

You can find previous year's forums here: https://www.donation...ndex.php?board=210.0

Release a new app for the new year on Jan 1 and get a DC mug as your reward.
Here's the new alternate design from Hamradio.

I have to walk away from SpiderOak.. It's making me miserable.. Once it hit the point where it thought all of my allocated 400gb was used up, it's basically entered a hellish state where it doesn't care what I try to remove from the backup, it doesn't change anything.  I'm done.

General Software Discussion / How to tell what is making my disk drive go crazy
« Last post by mouser on September 04, 2019, 04:31 PM »
So for the second day I'm sitting here listening to my (sata) hard disk drive make that sound that it's being used -- sounds a bit like ticking, etc.  And it's going on for hours.

But I can't figure out what process could be doing it.. The standard ctrl+alt+del process lister doesn't seem to shed any light..

Anyone use any software that might shed some light on what might be going wild on my disk drive?

I assume it's some windows background process or low level service, but I'd really like to find the culprit.

EDIT: May have been a false alarm.. I banged on the case near the fans for a bit and the sound stopped.. So perhaps it was just a fan rattle that sounded to me just like a hard disk drive seeking sound..  Either that or my banging woke up some snoring creature living in my computer, or convinced my hard drive to stop making a racket.

I may be able to fix this.. Can you do something for me, can you try the normal Screenshot Captor application and do a region capture with this (default shift+PrtScr), and tell me if the same thing happens?

In terms of speed.. I wonder if it's worth adding a way to send a message more directly to the running Screenshot Captor process..
