I don't do this often enough,

So, you need to increase your frequency?
I'm sure some of us could help you monitor that...  ;)

I think I'd better sine off!   :(

screen, it's firmware and the frequency of the power supplied

Hi Ath,

I don't do this often enough, so thought I'd send a wave in your direction.

Can one set a different key combination? (I have no Windows key.)
-cranioscopical (July 28, 2011, 10:10 PM)

I checked cranioscopical and it is in the options for hotkey.
-hamradio

Yes, you can set your own hot key in Options.

My thanks to you both

If the Lacie is an external USB drive, why is it getting classified as a Local Disk??

I just turned on an external WD USB (NTFS) drive, listed in properties as a USB device, which turned up in GS as local. Same thing with a WD MyBook (NTFS).
-cranioscopical (July 22, 2011, 03:56 PM)

Okay, so it was identified as local and not SUBST then yes?

I'm trying to gauge the scope of the issue.

Yes, they both turned up as local, not SUBST.

I just uploaded a new build that should eliminate those pesky error messages for ya.

And it does

This is one of the better programs that I have, without exception.

Are the only drives that are throwing errors the two removable drives A: & N:??

The optical drives (HIJU & V) both SATA & Virtual should all be fine. Yes?
-SJ

Originally I had four exceptions.

I took the empty reader (N) out of the picture and had two exceptions.

Next I added a printer with a card reader on board and went back to four exceptions.

Then I added back the reader (N) and went to 6.

So, at two exceptions per removable drive, everything that's not removable is okay.

Does that help?

I have to say that this is an exceptional program  ;)

I did see some of that (with Floppies) on Win2k in testing but not on XP and above. I can't quite tell from the SS, are you XP?

That was dumb of me, I should have specified: XP-32 SP3.

Is it too soon to report this stuff?

Getting exceptions due to empty drives.
So, refresh creates a loop that has to be forcibly terminated.

FYI Some virtual drives (HIJ), legacy floppy support is on (A), card reader (N), SATA opticals (UV)

Why not see what your local optician can do for you? You'll get a good fit and, probably, a better choice of frames. I still have a pair that were made for me years ago.

Having said that I installed XPMode when I set up my system but apart from the initial testing to see how it worked I have never had to use it for any real purpose.
-Carol Haynes (July 19, 2011, 04:02 AM)

I'm still clunking along on 32-bit XP and will be until my next machine.
Can XPMode run 16-bit stuff?
I tried something that's important to me on DOSBox under W7 Home Premium and that fell over, so that avenue is closed to me.

will be installing some spacehoggers like adobe illustrator.
Don't  forget to decommission the license for that, if you still can, ready to go on the new machine.

at the very least, have an option for "do you want to upgrade right now"?

Indeed! I fail to see why this couldn't be the default position.

For a modest investment in money and time, you can get your own little digital freehold.

Very good point!

I neither trust nor use the cloud.
If I can't use it for critical stuff, I can't see much point in using it for material of no consequence.
As far as I can tell there's no way to know who's able to access one's data nor to govern who'll be in control of it after the next round of corporate acquisitions.
I can see no workable (for me) remedy to lost or stolen data.

I'm just a little guy, with no need to access material from different locations, and local storage is so cheap. Luckily for me there is no incentive to cloud my judgment.

Then problem was that after it installed, it had to download an "update", which was downloading at 6kb/s

Not much consolation but I get this all the time with Steam. Buy a boxed product, install it, Steam leaps in and 'manages' things typically by spending the next two days downloading 'updates'. The idea of buying a game and playing it RIGHT NOW seems outdated. Buy from Steam and spend the same amount of time downloading the game in the first place

(Not that I play games, you understand — not since Steam, at least.)

I quite often buy games for my nephew and it's tough for a kid to get a game and then have to wait… and wait… and wait…

Good luck getting a response from Steam support, any queries of mine have gone unanswered.
