I won't even answer that. Sleep about it, feel free to edit your post if you feel different about your words later.

I've looked at Autohot Key and Autoit
Really? You misspelled both program names ;)

and found them both somewhat useful but limited.
FBSL blows em both out of the water. GUI, COM, CGI,easy API access, speed and general utility makes it a hands down superior scripting language.
Hmm...

Actually the project is freeware and is still in the "building" phase. So everything is basically contained in the forum...including download instructions. Which you can find here.
API access and COM are important to me and this scripting language allows you to follow the MSDN doc's pretty close making API access especially easy.
I have used this scripting language for almost 2 years and have watched it evolve into a very powerful tool.

For those who don't wish to commit and yet would like to try it out there is an online version of the compiler available to experiment with:
FBSL Studio
So after 2 years they

I'll stick with AutoHotkey..

I was interested in ProcessTamer "freeware" as it was recommeded by ShellCity and thaught this could be a helpful little prog, but actually the amount of nagging around what you call "freeware" makes it totally unuseable.
"totally unuseable"? That's an exaggeration if I ever heard one!

To cut a long story short there is no way to uninstall Nero Scout, even if non of the programs it is designed to support are installed. You can disable it in the options but this still doesn'f fix the file browsing delay (it also affects Directory Opus).

If you want to get rid of it I have found that deregisterring one of the DLLs kills Nero Scout without affecting other parts of the package that I use.

If you want to get rid of Nero Scout hit Start > Run and eexecute the command:

regsvr32 -u "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\Lib\MediaLibraryNSE.dll"

assuming that you install to the normal standard folders. Note that the quotes "" are important.
Thanks, Carol! I really do NOT like software that's forcing additional software on my PC without asking. Especially, when it's really slowing things down...

I am a believer in defragging, though I agree that it really does not need to be done very often.
Well, that depends on the way you use your PC... and if you tend to have little free HD space all the time that makes defragging even more important.

Thanks for the hint, http://www.excessive-software.eu.tt really IS a nice GUI for http://www.sysintern...tilities/Contig.html !

The difference is small when you have NTFS partitions and you don't use your PC as a server.  ;)
Not really...

I can only copy what f0dder and Carol said - and I'm using NTFS partitions and my PC is *not* a server :D

http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net - for the win :)

Base on scintilla (like scite), but IMHO better than scite.

Thanks f0dder, notepad++ looks great!! Has pretty good ratings too: http://fileforum.bet...Notepad/1095978331/1

Hi, garnet!

Please use descriptive topics that might give a hint about what you wrote - "oh yes, i forgot" isn't really better than the original topic you used ;)

I miss small things like URL highlighting and being able to use ESC instead of Alt-F4, does anyone know how willing the author is to implement new features?

Several choices:

- you could use FeedBlitz (read https://www.donation...dex.php?topic=2070.0) to get emails with the content of the DonationCoder RSS feeds (https://www.donation...ndex.php?topic=496.0) - maybe mouser could add an RSS feed for updated programs only?

- you could create a free account at http://fileforum.betanews.com/ and add Screenshot Captor to your list there. If there's an update available, FileForum will send you an email!

What's the point in a sunny day?

What's the point in enjoying BBQ with a few friends?

What's the point in just enjoying the moment?

Mini-Reviews by Members / Re: Startup Delayer
« Last post by brotherS on January 19, 2006, 10:31 AM »
@superboyac and patteo:

The solution is simply. Just...

  • set Startup Delayer to NOT delay one single program
  • download Sysinternals' Autorun: http://fileforum.bet...utoruns/1092024321/1
  • start Autoruns.exe (no need to install)
  • find and disable/delete every entry that's twice in Autostart folders/that you had problems with
  • run the programs that caused problems and disable their "automatically start with Windows" option!
  • again now, delay the programs you want to delay with Startup Delayer

I experienced that problem too, but it really isn't a Startup Delayer bug, it's just that some problems think "Oops, the user did set me to auto-start with Windows but somehow removed that got disabled, I better fix that".

Doing what I suggested fixes this for sure :)

Thanks to this great and free service and my inherent curiosity I found this video.

Before you click it, make sure you can hear the sound too! Do not watch it if the only kind of movies you like is Dirty Dancing.

Ready? Go! http://www.wimp.com/rubberjohnny/
