« Last post by mouser on October 10, 2019, 07:56 PM »
It's a good idea.  There is actually a FIT WIDTH option in the view menu.. One idea would be to have an option in preferences which says "[] Autofit should only fit width".

I can see the usefulness of your requests.
Have you tried using the %numinc% field in the File Naming pattern?  It is designed specifically to have an ever increasing counter.

Give that a try (put it at the end of your filename pattern) and see what you think..

It will never reset to 1 and just increase each time, but I could consider adding an option that reset it to 1 each day..

Fascinating.. I wouldn't read anything into the closing of the patreon.  Maybe just softonic lawyers deciding it was necessary for some reason..
It's good to hear Martin can keep doing what he is good at, and leave the unfun stuff to someone else!

Yeah probably a limit to how small the main screen will allow itself to get... but why would you want it smaller? If you don't want to see it why not minimize it to tray?

I do like the idea of showing what the filename will be in the pop-up dialog..  Maybe I could add an option that the user could control whether the pop up dialog shows the override filename field to input or the quick field to input.
So that wouldn't need more space on the post capture dialog just a dialog option of whether the field will override filename or change quick field..

It's fun to hear people use some of these functions I wrote and never use.. I tend to assume if I don't use a feature then probably no one does either..

N.A.N.Y. 2020 / NANY 2020 Release - Android App - DiscussionList
« Last post by mouser on October 04, 2019, 03:04 PM »
Simple app that lets you manage a collection of relationship/discussion questions, to facilitate weekly discussions, etc.
In the past we have used a sheet of paper that we bring with us when we go on walks.

Youtube video:

DOWNLOAD and LINKS:

Features:

You can organize questions into categories with tags, etc.

There will be some included questions, and of course you can add your own.  And there is now an easy way to import from some premade question lists via the web.

There are 2 main modes, one is just the standard listview management view that you see in all of my android apps:
Screenshot - 10_10_2019 , 7_57_32 PM.png

And the other is a new minimalist "slideshow" type view where you can swipe left and right to move through the questions one by one:
Screenshot - 10_10_2019 , 7_57_58 PM.png

With almost 1,000 questions imported from www.conversationstartersworld.com (will not be included by default because of copyright ownership), just to demonstrate that you could have a lot of random questions, organized into sections by tag:
Screenshot - 10_11_2019 , 1_44_32 PM.png

Note that when you engage the "slideshow" swipe single-page question mode, it shows (randomly ordered, if you like) only the items from your current section, so it's easy to just browse questions with certain tags or from certain sources.

A new simple import function lets you import a text file of questions, with one question per line.  Makes it easy to import lots of questions.

what i need is someone to find me a free/open source OCR utility, that i can add a nice little tool button to SC and CHS to call.

Sounds like I should add some code to my programs to check if the ConfigDir.ini file is telling them to save to a directory that is disallowed, and complain if so.
1412
i think the file should be called ConfigDir.ini
exit and restart with that filename and see how it behaves.

by default the portable one should be storing settings in the same directory it runs from.

but if you copied over a ConfigDir.ini from a previous installed version it might override it, so try using ConfigDir.ini.

I think the most important things to take away from these occasional security incidents are:
1. Remember to use a different password on every website
2. Keep separate the email address you use for important personal conversation and the email address you use to sign up to random unimportant websites.
3. Have an alert set on your credit cards so you get a notification after EVERY purchase.  I think this is an item many people don't bother to set up, but I find it invaluable.

Android Apps / Re: Other app ideas based on WhenLast code

Can I see a show of hands for anyone using the dropbox multi-device sync functionality in my android apps?
Google recently announced that they were blocking certainly library builds and the dropbox library seems to have been abandoned by dropbox, meaning if I try to upload a new release of any of my apps, I'll have to strip out the multi-device sync feature that uses dropbox :(

Android Apps / Re: Re-usable ToDo lists (possibly using *Checklist DC*?)
« Last post by mouser on September 28, 2019, 10:40 PM »
So some of these requests are doable without much trouble:

Wonderful would be a way of collapsing the individual nodes (is that the correct term) in the hierarchy (in Checklist, categories would be collapsable). Ideally all the hierarchy would be collapsed and one could expand whichever topic is relevant. This would make it much easier to scroll through all categories.

Being able to collapse categories in the "ALL" view would be reasonably easy i think, and not a bad idea at all.

Important would be quick and easy way of removing all checkmarks (in one group). I dont think this is easily possible in Checklist.

Already exists; it's listed as "reset all items in view" under the menu.

The multi-level hierarchy view is substantially more difficult, because my system uses a "tag" system internally, rather than a strict hierarchy.  The benefit includes some flexibility to have items in multiple categories, etc.

What I could try maybe to do is add a kind of ersatz multi-level hierarchy tag system, where the system would look for tags of a specific format, like it might look for a tag whose tag was "Work > Mornings", and it might know that it should not create a tab for that category but instead display that category as a subcategory of the parent "Work" category..

So internally, it's still a flat list of items with tags, but it would display some items as if they were in subcategories.. It's hard to anticipate now if that might get messy in unpredictable ways..  But it's not a terrible idea..

Screenshot Captor / Re: Suggestion for 'File Name Quick Field'
« Last post by mouser on September 28, 2019, 01:42 AM »
The quick field feature is one of those useful ideas I had, that even I have trouble remembering to use.

For those that aren't familiar with the idea, it basically lets you easily set a string that would be used in file names of subsequent captures.. So if you were going to take 10 captures related to a project, you might put like "ProjectA" in the quick name field and your capture files would be named "ProjectA - 001" then "Project A - 002" etc..

So your idea is a good one.. the real problem is that the post-capture pop-up dialog is getting crowded and big, and it's hard to keep adding stuff to it..

customizable toolbars, buttons for more (all) menu entries (my most commonly used functions are'nt available as toolbar buttons)
bigger toolbar buttons
customizable hotkeys for menu entries (functions)

These are all excellent ideas and are at the top of my todo list.

If people let me know there favorite features that they would like to see toolbar buttons for I will add them right away.

There is an alternate dll download on the mobysaurus page: http://www.dcmembers...wordzilla/downloads/
Can you try replacing your existing dll with that one and see if it fixes it?
If that fails, maybe try reinstalling mobysaurus?

Gotcha, let me see if I can add that.. So it will be a new commandline option to tell what SC should do after the capture, overriding the default post-capture option.
