General Software Discussion / send email after some delay
« Last post by kalos on January 03, 2012, 07:15 AM »
hello!!

in Microsoft Office Outlook 2003, I want two buttons to appear in the 'compose email' window:
"Send"
and
"Send after some delay" (the delay can be a default delay or I can customize it in each email I send)

is it possible?

thanks!

Question:

Would it be helpful if the Ctrl+T pressing was automated as well?

maybe, but how would I paste each string to the correct position in a grid?

General Software Discussion / write app tutorial
« Last post by kalos on December 29, 2011, 06:13 AM »
hello!!

I need to write a tutorial how to use the GUI of an app and I need to take screenshots of the GUI and somehow highlight specific controls, assign a name to them and explain these at the text of the tutorial

is there any more convenient, fancy, etc way to do an app tutorial? (it must not contain animations or movies)

also, which simple program can help me create rectangular highlights on photos?

thanks!

General Software Discussion / Re: adding tab support to apps that dont have it
« Last post by kalos on December 25, 2011, 04:55 AM »
so far, I found Window tabifier to do excellent job

but the main drawback is that it does not tabify windows of a specific program automatically, I have to choose the windows and tabify them manually

is there any solution to this?

please, the topic is not about a tabbed text editor, but about a way to group to tabs, windows of an app that does not natively support tabs

@cmpm, @elenman
please note that I just refered to notepad as an example, I know there are many notepad replacements with native tab support, but I am asking something else

@f0dder
that seems interesting, any more info about these hacks?

@joiwind
thanks, I am researching the links you pasted

hello!

is there any way to make a program work in tabs, while it has not native support for it?

for example, notepad, many instances of notepad open as seperate windows, is there a way to make all instances appear as tabs of one window?

thanks!

Peter's Flexible Renaming Kit (PFrank) has a plugin for inserting title metadata from PDF files. Haven't tried by myself, though.

but pdf metadata does not contain pdf text content, only author, creation date, etc, AFAIK
1363
there isnt really such thing?
it would be so convenient!

Have you thought about using a VM?

my previous experience with VM (admittedly long time ago) was disappointing due to the lag of responsiveness

any better option than sandboxie??

General Software Discussion / how to run programs without altering the host pc
« Last post by kalos on December 07, 2011, 09:48 PM »
hello!

I want to operate some programs in a pc and at the same time I dont want to alter in any way that pc (create or change files, settings, registry, etc)

programs like firefox, acrobat pdf, etc

portable versions would be an option, but I am unsure if they are made not to alter the host pc

I was thinking of sandoboxie, or any other alternative

any suggestion?

thanks!

Rob van der Woude's Scripting Pages
On this site you will find all kinds of (administrative) scripting related information:

    * several scripting languages: batch files, JScript, KiXtart, Perl, PowerShell, Rexx, VBScript ... even some C# code ...
    * some language reference material
    * regular expressions
    * lots of sample scripts
    * scripting techniques and best practices
    * undocumented features, tricks and work-arounds
    * links to more scripting info
    * commands for unattended (silent) installations
    * downloadable tools and utilities
    * titles of relevant books on scripting
    * and more...
Plus WMI, ADSI, WSH, books, scripting tools.

wow, this is very interesting! thanks!

General Software Discussion / software/script/code/macro repositories
« Last post by kalos on December 03, 2011, 03:18 PM »
hello

I found that google search often does not help to find the program I need

at the same time, a look up in websites like sf.net and codeproject.com may reveal a software diamond

so are there any other software/code/script/macro repositories?

thanks!

General Software Discussion / Re: command line tool for pdf
« Last post by kalos on November 30, 2011, 03:39 PM »
thanks for your reply, but that would be overkill for my task, eg. to monitor a folder named "logo them all" and when a pdf is pasted or created in that folder, to automatically add a graphics file to each page

any script or program that performs actions to pdf files, like those I mention at the first post?

General Software Discussion / command line tool for pdf
« Last post by kalos on November 26, 2011, 08:02 AM »
hello!

I am looking for a command line tool that will:

1) place a specific image (logo) at a specific resolution/size, at a specific place in pdf pages (according to the top left corner, etc)
2) extract all the text of pdf pages (and save it in a variable or a file)
3) search and replace specific text in pdf pages (optimally using regex)
4) crop and save the cropped area or delete the cropped area of pdf pages

do you know any??

thanks!
