Misc should say (1) too, shouldn't it?
It looks like the count makes the tab-title too long. Turning off All in the settings, or shortening the word to Misc should show it.

Feature-request:
  • Option per item to reset to 'never' @midnight

.NET 4.0 won't run on XP, but, sigh...
That's a typo, right? 4.0 will run on XP, but 4.5 won't.

Developer's Corner / Re: Experimenting with Other Programming Languages
« Last post by Ath on December 11, 2014, 09:46 AM »
I'll not bite in the IDE-wars (again) ;)

The last couple of days I had to dive into perl, as one of our Jira required plug-ins (Jira Commit Acceptance) is no longer supported on the latest Jira version (6.3) that we want to migrate to, and 'only' a perl script is available as an alternative.
The script was, ofcourse, 80% right for what we need, but that last 20% had to be added as well (multiple issue-numbers in a commit-message all must apply to the set rules, the issue must exist and not have a 'Resolution' set).

It's been a pleasant surprise on the ease of getting into some (to me) trickery stuff/features of the language (and Google is my friend :P), as perl combines a lot of features from Java/C-like languages, bash shell scripts and the basic-ish language I've come to like in AutoIt3.
Ofcourse I'm not (yet) creating (or planning) full-fledged applications in perl any time soon, but it is been really easy to use.

Screenshot Captor / Re: 1 Feature and Configuration Option
« Last post by Ath on December 10, 2014, 01:58 AM »
  • Request Configuration: As there is setting in Preferences to auto copy the Capture as bitmap to CLIP board.
  • It should also do it after changes made to capture, like adding  highlight, text, border etc.
  • Request Feature: Auto Scroll and Capture feature for any window we select.
My answers:
  • That is already a setting  (Post capture options/Copy to clipboard)
  • Why and how? You would be unable to use the clipboard for other stuff while using SC :-\ (Pressing Ctrl-C after selecting the image by a single click should do the job, though)
  • That's a major feature of SC, and quite thoroughly tested  (Grab windows Object or scrolling window)

Check out the SC screencasts over here

Living Room / Re: which phone?
« Last post by Ath on December 10, 2014, 01:46 AM »
Mostly depends on the requirements you have for your apps and if you need to move over data from your old phone.
If you want a simple to use phone and don't want to pull out the big cash for an iPhone, get Windows Phone, if you need to do a little more complicated stuff, get an Android.

For dabbling you could always buy a cheap Windows Phone model with a prepaid card, for real world use (by a technically inclined person) I (still) think Android is the best solution.

« Last post by Ath on December 09, 2014, 02:11 AM »
After adding a single test-entry and pressing the Now button, I 'closed' WL using the Back button (Samsung Tab2 10.1, Android 4.4.2), and went for supper. After returning a bit later it had forgotten the time I pressed the Now button, though I'm very sure it was there when I closed it.
I have been unable to reproduce this behavior  but I'll keep an eye on it.
I did add another entry, and it kept the Now setting, when I last checked, even after a forced close of the app.

This is looking just like any professional Android app, kudo's

There is a link to the GNU sed-docs on the bottom of the screen, displaying an expression-breakdown is something quite ambitious that I didn't dare to put it in the Planned features list yet :-[

    Author Ath

    Description
This application is written after a request from steeladept in the 'Ideas wanted' thread for NANY 2015.
The request was to have a simple tester for sed expressions on a piece of text supplied to it.

    Features
Show the result of a sed expression on a piece of text
Show the explanation of a sed expression
    Optional SED script panel
Auto-updates the result, unless the Autocheck option is turned off
    Saves options on exit
    Store/remove sed expressions

    Planned Features
    • Compatibility with MONO so it can be run on Linux (GUI) (Since v1.0.1.0)
    • Multi-expression mode (Available since v1.0.0.0)
    • Color the differences between input text and result text
    • Expression Explanation panel (Available since v1.0.0.0)

    Screenshots
    SED expression mode:

    SED script mode:

SED script mode (Linux Mint 17.1 Cinnamon):
    Linux Screenshot - 2015-01-03, 14_13_49.png

    Usage
    Installation
Unzip the downloaded zip-file in a directory.
The zip-file contains both SedTester.exe and a Windows-compiled version of GNU sed.exe that is spawned by SedTester for getting the result. It needs to be in the current directory or in the Windows path.
On Linux sed.exe can be removed or not extracted, as it won't be usable/used anyway.

    Using the Application
Start SedTester.exe (On Linux: run using MONO)
Type or paste some input text
Type a sed expression (or select from the combobox if some are added already)
or Switch to SED script mode using the checkbox and write or paste a script to be executed (most examples from the sed online manual are tested)
Wait a second and it is auto-checked into the result text (when Autocheck is enabled)

    Uninstallation
Remove the 2 .exe files, and optionally the auto-created settings.xml, from the directory

    Known Issues
On Linux/MONO (tested using the Cinnamon desktop) 2 CheckBoxes don't adhere to the RightToLeft setting...
On Linux/MONO the Application- and Window-icon don't show (MONO known issue)

    [/list]
    1365
There's also Windows Powershell, good for anything Win7 or later, (since it's already installed):
To access files protected by UAC, it still requires the end-user to run PowerShell 'As Administrator', and that is what the OP is trying to avoid, IMHO...
    1366
I'm not so sure this actually is going to work on all computers. I must assume that most have UAC in the default setting, so it won't allow 'just any application' to write in system-reserved directories.
Is UAC turned off, or are you testing on Windows XP (but that's unlikely when you mention "C:\ProgramData") ?
    1367
I've PM-ed you an Inno Setup script that, after some minor customization, can be compiled into a .exe file for sending to your customers/users.
    1368
The trouble with doing this with AHK is you have to persuade your user(s) to run the exe As Administrator, and that's automatic for an (Inno Setup and other brands) installer, because of the manifest included in the exe :)
    1369
You could create a small Inno Setup installer with just a single [ini] entry to fix that. The default settings are to run as Administrator (after confirmation of the 'unknown publisher' as you probably don't have a code-signing certificate, and a UAC question), and just a few Next clicks further (after disabling almost all screens, 1 or 2) it should be fixed.
I can help you out with the script if you want.

Hm, I'd be able to start something relatively small like this sed tester, just to be able to join this NANY :tellme:
I'd start with a live preview feature, but don't hold your breath, it'll take me a couple of days to publish it here, only small time-slots available

Hm, I usually go to www.regex101.com to devise a proper regex find/replace, then head over to one of our HP-UX machines and use trial&error to fix-up the not supported regex signs like \d -> [:digit:] and similar sillyness. After that I've found a sed sequence that works on all our *nix platforms...

General Software Discussion / Re: Looking for Windows Email Server Options
    « Last post by Ath on November 29, 2014, 04:40 PM »
hMailServer is used in our 400+ employee business 24/7 for some rather critical secondary mail-services, though not as the main mail server (that's Exchange, as is to be expected). It hasn't let us down in the 10+ years it's in use, all 'failures' can be accounted to configuration/human error, not software failure
