Post New Requests Here / Re: IDEA: Not so pointless clickometer!
« Last post by lanux128 on May 26, 2010, 12:20 AM »
@Chessnia: glad to hear that the kids enjoyed the experience. :) as for new features, i'll summarize your requests and quickly run through it.

1. event-triggered image popupsi can add a parameter so that the program looks for images in a specified folder.
2. countdowni guess i can put another button for this.
3. more barsthis needs some looking into. do you need static x number of bars or will you be looking to change it as the program is running? i might even have to switch from progressbar to sliders for this.
4. several instanceslol, i actually put a keyword to avoid multiple instances. i can undo that. ;)
5. log resultsagain, can be done. what kind of info you want to be logged?
6. quick reset of the barssorry about this, it crossed my mind. will add this pronto. :-[
7. horizontal versionthis can also be made configurable.
8. sound effectswith kids around, this sounds like an absolutely must-have! ;D this is similar to #1 in a sense and will be based on event-triggers, i guess? also if you have some sample of sound-bytes, i can add them into the app.

so basically, shouldn't have much problems with the new requests. will keep you updated..

@SingingBoyo: please do continue with the Java version. the more the merrier :)

good to see that you've found an editor that suits your needs. got to bookmark CoffeeCup myself. :up: btw, i didn't know about Trellian's bad reputation, i wonder why it got flagged at WOT.
1355
nice find, AbteriX.. i'd like to add another editor to this list which is Trellian WebPage.

yes, it doesn't seem to be an actively developed program. i remember that there was another GUI-based editor called Amaya, i wonder if it has such a feature? btw, i code my HTMLs in either PSPad or Notetab Light. :)

General Software Discussion / Re: a copy of Motherboard Monitor?
« Last post by lanux128 on May 24, 2010, 08:52 PM »
hmm.. didn't realize that MBM had stopped development. if the last version is from 2004 then it's no use to me as my current PC was built in 2007. anyway thanks for the suggestions, will try them out.

you need to download and install Autohotkey (http://www.autohotkey.com/download/) then you can double-click on SlideCursor.ahk to make it active.

also check out the Quick-start Tutorial.

Find And Run Robot / Re: FARR Alias "f"
« Last post by lanux128 on May 24, 2010, 06:50 AM »
I'm wondering about the alias triggered by "f", which I looked through the aliases list to find that it's supposed to look up processes running in the background. When I type in an entry such as "firefox.exe" it takes me to http://file-extensio...xtension_firefox.exe. It says I should click on a link to find out more about that process, but it takes me to http://www.liutiliti...eextensionseeker/rb/, which tries to sell me a product named Uniblue RegistryBooster.

...

I like the idea of using FARR to look up background processes, but this just seems like spam; and I know that FARR would never intentionally that. So is there anyone out there with the same problem, or have suggestions/advice, etc.?

the second site in the alias, http://filext.com has the following text on this site: "Filext.com is a free online resource by Uniblue". for me, having Uniblue on-board is bad enough so i edited the alias to remove it.

also the other site, http://file-extension.net (which is by DC member Mark0 incidentally) has had some changes in the search query so the current one in Farr wouldn't work. so i updated the search query as well.

please find attached the zip file containing the changes. To install, unzip and copy the files into Farr's Core Alias folder. This folder by default is normally like this:
C:\Program Files\FindAndRunRobot\AliasGroups\Installed\Core_Aliases

please let me know if anything gets broken because of this new alias. ;)

General Software Discussion / Re: Sonar Power Manager
« Last post by lanux128 on May 24, 2010, 02:05 AM »
perhaps this is more like a proof-of-concept software that needs some tinkering yet.
1363
Did you try it out? The website says it's the German language. Is there an option for other languages, like English? I still have some non-Windows 7 PCs this thing could work on.

i didn't try it because i have no Blu-ray drive. anyway the normal Alcohol 120% has a language option, so this Blu-ray version should have it too unless it's been locked by the providers. :)

General Software Discussion / Re: Windows shortcut hotkeys broken?
« Last post by lanux128 on May 23, 2010, 08:33 PM »
If you make a shortcut, then click on Properties, you get a window with several tabs.  The Shortcut tab lets you set a "Shortcut key" hotkey to activate the program.

These hotkeys don't work for me.

on my PC, they only work if the shortcuts are on the desktop by itself. even if it's inside a folder on the desktop won't work..

how can i disable the status bar in farr window?
I could not find an option in the preferences to turn it off.

that option has been removed some time back..
Version 2.29.01 - August 4th, 2008

· [MinorFeature] - Removed option to hide statusbar.. was causing trouble with skinning system and on reflection seemed to be a bad idea to hide info that might need to be displayed by plugins, etc.

Find And Run Robot / Re: Make web search in current opened browser
« Last post by lanux128 on May 23, 2010, 02:48 AM »
btw, FBL will work wherever you can specify a custom browser like this:
c:\pathto\Farr_Browser_Launcher2.exe <url>

currently i have it working in mIRC as well. to make it work, put the following lines in your remote section (press Alt+r to invoke the scripts editor dialog).

on ^*:hotlink:*//*.*:*: { }
on *:hotlink:*//*.*:*: { run C:\Program Files\DonationCoder\Farr\Scripts\Farr_Browser_Launcher2.exe $1 }
on ^*:hotlink:*www.*:*: { }
on *:hotlink:*www.*:*: { run C:\Program Files\DonationCoder\Farr\Scripts\Farr_Browser_Launcher2.exe $1 }

obviously you need to change the path accordingly. :)

Find And Run Robot / Re: Make web search in current opened browser
« Last post by lanux128 on May 22, 2010, 05:43 AM »
here is the version you requested, supports four browsers - A to D in order of preference. you may want to edit the INI file first to reflect the actual path in your system. also in certain cases, you may have to change the "BrowserX_ProcessName" section since this "ProcessName" is used to detect which browsers are open, e.g. Iron Portable's processes are seen in the system as "Iron.exe" not "IronPortable.exe" and so on.

please try this out and let me know how it works out for you. :)

Edit: i've uploaded the fixed version in this post here.
