even the ones I couldn't read.
It was those darn Germans, wasn't it? They can't even spell their own language! I heard one call himself a Deutscher.

Living Room / Thank You To The Members Of DonationCoder.com

Once again I made the mistake of joining a forum, only to have it turn into a flamewar less than 48 hours later.  I am reminded of Benjamin Franklin's saying, "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results." It has only just dawned on me that there is no such childish behavior on this forum and I wanted to thank everybody, all 50K+ of you, for being civilized. Thank You.

I'm not even sure how it should look so I'd appreciate any suggestions.

I know you don't want to do something as elaborate as such, but I think the Just Great Software company's website is a good model to emulate in terms of content.

There's a start.  :D

Are you suffering from Start Menu Dysfunction? Does it take you longer and longer to get your app up? Does repeated clicking and clicking only leave you lost and unsatisfied. Well your troubles are over!! Just put this little blue button in your system tray and your troubles will be FARR away! You'll be the envy of your #channel. Beautiful people who never acted like you existed will now provide you with plugins!! Programs you haven't used for years will throw themselves at you to be executed!!! BUT WAIT ! That's not all. If you act now, mouser will throw in not three, not four, not even five, but SIX, count them 1 2 3 4 5 6 plugins !!!!!

DonationCoder.com has a very good Word Processor Review by Zaine Ridling, divided into three tiers: Major Word Processors (Open Office, Office 2007, Word Perfect), Second Tier Word Processors (AbiWord, EIOffice, etc.) and Online Word Processors (Google Docs, etc.) that is well worth reading for an idea of the capabilities of each. The final Pro and Con tables are handy.

Why thank you.  :-[

And we will need both versions of Portuguese!

The problem with hangman games are that those usually only work for a language (english, in this case).
Why is that a problem? I grab the language from the OS and use the appropriate language file that my friends here at DC have translated for me!

Don't forget that FARR is Web 2.0, SOA, and Low-carb !!!

p3lb0x, I think you are on to something there. Parody the Mac vs PC commercials as the Start Menu vs FARR !!

[added]
Maybe the Start Button guy would be covered in a bunch of those round 3" buttons with the name of programs. He could even be wearing a trench coat with buttons on the inside and the outside of the coat. A scarf with buttons. A hat with buttons on it and buttons under the hat. Buttons inside pockets. Maybe the guy is a gal and her purse is full of buttons too.

Yesterday i had a great idea.. we need some plugin games for FARR..
I actually thought of one that would fit well, a quiz game plugin.
...
sounds fun? anyone want to try to make it?

Not a quiz, but I will make a hangman game. That would make a nice plugin game.

If you are looking for web forms, another good service is Wufoo.

That is a great price. Thanks Carol!

If I were to trust my fellow DCers and just buy some of that stuff because it is dirt cheap, what programs have you folks used, and which ones do you suggest I purchase?

If you are advanced enough to use "Then later I'd use SED, GREP or AWK to find what I am looking for. " I suggest you look at WGET. It can grab what you need and save it locally.

Congratulations Deozaan on the good score.  That is great for what is basically a one-man project team. Good luck.

I agree with DcUpdater updating itself first. This way, if the new update has any new functionality, it can be utilized immediately. For example, there may be a bug in DcUpdater that prevents some other app from updating. That bug could be fixed in the newly available version of DcUpdater.
1371
Just out of curiosity, are any of you using any Stardock shell-altering applications?  (E.g., WindowBlinds, WindowsFX, DesktopX, etc.)

Nope, but good guess.
1372
tinjaw: I know about TweakUI XP :P Do I need to repeat my self.. Nice screen shot though :D
Doh!  :-[
1373
It depends on a couple of things. First of all, are you signing in with the username "karar"? If not, did you just change the name on the "karar" account, or did you create a new one.
1374
Curt,

I think the part you are missing is that there are certain folders/directories on a Windows box that are special. These folders have entries in the registry that tell other programs where they can be found. So, for example, a program may ask the registry for the location of the "My Documents" folder and the registry will reply with "C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\My Documents", but it can just as easily return "J:\home\username". So, by suing something like TweakUI, you can change the location the registry is pointing to. This way all programs that use this method (which is most, if they follow Microsoft's guidelines) will find the requested folder no matter where it resides.
1375
You can do that easily with TweakUI.
