how about these two?

http://userscripts.o...g/scripts/show/24259
http://userscripts.o...g/scripts/show/19701

hmm, thanks for mentioning them, but i can't get either to do anything useful - certainly not resizeing the video. after 15 minutes of clicking on the various options i think i'll stick with the manual method. maybe they don't work with firefox 3...?

my fellow-truck drivers ALWAYS read my "CodeTRUCKER" as me being a goody-two-shoes driver that never breaks any law and only does everything "by the book."  I have to explain that I "code," as in "program" computers to keep the lynch mobs to a minimum.
heheh, that's funny.

i think f0dder is a cool name - and its origins back it up.

nudone = nud1. i wanted to use "nud" for my hotmail account but obviously it was taken, so i typed nudone when i could just as easily have put nud01 or nud001 or whatever.

nud comes from Nudda, a local man, now dead, that everyone knew of around these parts (not for good reasons). when a group of us started skateboarding we'd often refer to our skate territory (the neighbouring villages and towns) as "Nuddsville".

when non local skaters came to visit (often in groups as they do) they'd hear the locals referring to "Nuddsville" which must have stuck in their minds. i didn't have a nickname so a few of these non locals would refer to me as Nudd instead of Nick (probably because they both start with the letter "N").

at the same time, locals would often use the name "Nudda" in a derogatory way, when poking fun at someone else. so the names "nudd" and "nudda" were often heard during the day for different reasons - eventually merging into my official nickname: nud (with one "D" as i think it looks more aesthetically pleasing).

i'll still answer to the call of "nudda" when someone uses it, or even the more affectionate "nudbastard" if required.

Living Room / howto: resizable playback youtube and other online vids
« Last post by nudone on June 02, 2009, 06:33 AM »
after becoming frustrated about having only two viewing size choices (standard/small or fullscreen) for watching ALL online videos, i thought it time to experiment...

it looks like you can just take the embed codes for any video, paste it into your browsers address bar, remove any of the embed tags that surround the url, then hit enter.

you'll then have the embedded video playing back in your browser - simply resize your browser to resize the video.

this is so simply it's probably been mentioned hundreds of times online already, but it was new to me. kind of obvious too when you realise pretty much all online vids have embed codes.

i'm still having an annoying day...

i find this very annoying - and dumb:

online videos that only have two zoom/view settings, i.e. small, on the page that contains them or full screen.

how about having them resizable or, at least, being able to select something other than full screen.

how long has video been around on the web, and it's still only got two viewing sizes - this planet is retarded!

edit:
right, i've found you can insert "_popup" after the word "watch" in youtube urls so they'll fit to the insides or your browser window.

another edit:
i've realised there's a universal way of doing this for all onilne vids that have embed tags see here: https://www.donation...?topic=18575.new#new

i've just remembered something that really does annoy me:

bloggers (well, any online writers) that don't put the publishing date on their articles and posts.

they may believe their content to be so important that it's going to be valid until the end of time - personally, i'd like to know when it was created so i can put it into context with any other articles i may look at.

my blood is starting to boil just thinking about how inconsiderate it is to not bother including the date.

the key might not work with that ISO. i think the ISO is VL so if the key is for OEM i think you'll run into trouble.

[edit: sorry just read that AndyM mentioned the undo trick in the above post. try the double -- to creat an m-dash though.]

here's a trick:

don't disable the autocorrect feature to change - to – (n-dash to m-dash).

now if you type - (an n-dash) and word autocorrects it to – (an m-dash) then just hit CTRL + Z to undo the autocorrect action, you'll get your original - (n-dash) back.

if you want an – (an m-dash), you can can type two -- (n-dashes) next to each other and word should autocorrect it to – (an m-dash) for you.

just finished watching the video presentation. really cool, makes current online communication methods look prehistoric.

if anyone is willing, it'd be nice to make the script also work with notes outside of the containing folder, i.e. by using the standard paths for directories and files in windows.

thanks, that is working, cedardoc.

it looks like the problem was just due to my copy of autohotkey needed updating (sorry about that).

nifty program idea anyway. now to try and make a habit of using it.

you can change the colour for all of them to another single colour, i.e. from all red to all blue.

this is for changing the colour of the "mark styled token" selected elements:

from the "settings" menu select "style configurator..."

these should help if you select them.

sorry. after reading your original post i now see the problem - but don't have any good suggestions.

could you put a cable up through into the roof cavity and then drop it down into the next cottage - messy i know.

what about the mimo wireless routers - maybe a decent one would be powerful enough to get through the wall.
1366
i can't recommend any specific product but it sounds like you just need a decent wireless repeater.

i've seen this Belkin one in use - it did what you'd expect.

edit:
erm, not sure if that will do it. it might need plugging into the network. i thought it just picked up the wireless signal and repeated it.

edit:
this one doesn't need a physical connection to your network:

you can attach a file to your post by...

clicking the "reply" button (below right), i.e. don't use the quick post box below.

then to attach a file to your post, simply click on the "browse" button - and locate the file to upload.

that should do it.

here's a screengrab so you know exactly what you are looking for:

i love big words, unless i don't know them - then i just feel like a dork. but that's part of the fun.

two things that i do find annoying:

1. repeatedly forgetting what a particular big word meant - therefore feeling like a dork again.

2. people that don't really use big words trying to use a trendy big word that is currently doing the rounds.

perhaps it's just me, but i've noticed people saying "plethora" recently - one minor internet radio celebrity has to say it, at least, once during every single show they do. "zeitgeist" seemed a bit trendy a few years back with media folk - now, none of them say it.

thanks for trying, but i still have the same problem with the new script.

what have you got inside your working folder? perhaps it's something to do with the names of the files and folder i've used.

nice idea - is there a problem with the script?

i copied and pasted the abvoe scripty bits into an .ahk file then tried to run it and it just comes up with an error...

i'm pleased relieved to say that doesn't work (otherwise i've been wasting my time for longer than i'd like to say to figure it out).

this works to access the htdocs folder on the host machine...

http://hostmachinename/

but that isn't what i'm after.

http:/hostmachinename/testingsite doesn't acces the virtual host site either - doesn't seem to do anything.

i don't think it's that simple when using the virtual hosts in xampp. i'm using it so these kind of urls will work

http://testsite or http://www.testsite.com

rather than http://localhost/testsite

(i'm using NAT.)
1372
i've now got this working.

inside the virtual machine's hosts file, just add the ip of your main hosting machine (the one with xampp on it).

so, if you've got a virtual host inside xampp called "testingsite" and your host machine's ip is 123.123.123.123, then stick this line in the hosts file of your virtual machine:

123.123.123.123  testingsite

so, in the virtual machine's browser you'd access this xampp virtual host with http://testingsite

note: this is just the bit to get things to work inside a virtual machine. there are other steps required to set up the virtual hosts in xampp.
1373
(all of the above links need editing to work correctly.)

KMPlayer also does bookmarks.
