You could try this in Word and/or Excel with a little VBA.

Especially if the only (or mostly the only) thing you need that mailmerge can't do is to pick which draft to use - use vba for that part and then start the mailmerge.  Or just use vba for the whole thing.

this is very interesting tool, that I will definately use for the actual translation work

but I want a pdf editor that will display the original and translated text, side by side

maybe add the translated text as "comments" that will pop up when I click to a specific text block?

last time I tried this with Acrobat X, it was messy: the text that had some "comments" assigned to it, was underlined red (which made the pdf visually unacceptable), the appearance of the comments covered the original text so that I couldnt compare them, etc

any solution to this?

my work frequently involves article translation in pdf, and I need a pdf editor where I will be able to display each block of text, in its original and in its translated version, side by side, to make alterations and generally compare the progress of translation work

any program that can be helpful for such kind of work?

Umm, I think can do all that - and more - in mouser's Clipboard Help and Spell. It's called "merge clips" - and they don't have to be sequential either.
And no restrictions on whether you are copying from plain-text, Word, Excel or any other docs.

unfortunately I dont think it does what I want

I want to make a text file (or excel) where each line contains the data with which each draft will be completed
Draft1, somefield, somefield, somefield
Draft2, somefield, somefield
Draft2, somefield, somefield, somefield

the first word (draft1 or draft2) will determine which draft will be used as base
the next words will determine the values that will be placed in each filed of the draft

any idea?

hello!

my needs for easy desktop navigation are these:

TASKBAR:
1) click or hover over taskbar button that is not pressed -> activate that window (but it should work after the cursor has moved out that active taskbar button area and then moved in again)
2) click or hover over taskbar button that is pressed -> activate the previously active window
3) click or hover over empty area in taskbar when at least one window is active -> show desktop
4) click or hover over empty area in taskbar when no window is active -> raise all the previously raised windows and activate the previously active window
5) right click on taskbar button -> close window
6) middle click or ctrl right click on taskbar button -> show window context menu

TITLEBAR:
1) right click on title bar -> close window
2) left click on title bar (without holding it and dragging it) -> minimize window
3) middle click on title bar -> send window to tray

WINDOWS:
1) hover over window area of a window that is not active -> activate window
2) add permanently "always on top" buttons in all windows and options per application, like "close to tray", "minimize to tray", "always start maximized", "start with specific window size", "start minimized or in the background" etc

all the above must be in an exe or ahk that is portable in any pc

hello

my goal is to fill word document drafts with specific text in specific locations inside the draft

let's say I have draft.a and draft.b and I want to make two draft.a documents (draft.a.1 and draft.a.2) and two draft.b documents (draft.b.1 and draft.b.2), using specific each time text to fill specific locations in each draft

is there a handy way to do this? I am looking something like MS WORD's mail merge, but more advanced (ability to easily use various drafts and not one, ability to easily determine where the text will be placed in each draft, etc)

any idea?
