I'll give it some thought, I may just ask (what's the worst that can happen...)

that's where i was heading, but I wondered whether or not it was likely to be an issue, ie if they are actually duplicates then you probably don't want to copy them in (renamed or otherwise)

isn't this the kind of behaviour that got MS into trouble?

Fred Nerd - what do you want to do about file collisions (ie duplicates, or different files with the same name)?

I think Fred Nerd may have been referring to my screenshots.  I have a fairly large music collection.  ~86,000 tracks.

GAAAAACK!! I have no idea what mines like, but it's largely archived to disc (although I do currently have about 80G that needs cleaning up before I can do that  :-[)

@Target, please release yours as well.  It's always good to have a choice

I'm close enough that I won't just drop it, but it will be sometime next week before I'm done...

@Target, do you think we can get them to make it more friendly for people who start with AHK? I don't mind mind spending hours trying to program/bug fixing, but I have spent hours and don't think I'm any closer, or hardly any closer....

I don't think it's a case of making it easier, but I think that for the beginner the leap to API programming is a large one if you don't have any background or knowledge (there's a significant gap there)

FWIW I can understand the concepts, I just can't make the step to the implementation (I have a working solution to that challenge, but I don't really understand it.  Also as some of the code is taken from somewhere else so I can't and wont submit it...

Makes my 8000 or so songs on my iPod look small

where did this figure come from?

D*mn that assignment that involved Winsock, it threw me right off track.
*thinks (for 100th time) I WILL master it. It won't beat me*

I'm with you, I've still got a flat spot on my forehead from hitting that 'wall'...

everbodies gotta be a comedian...

I seriously thought Skwire would have had this well and truly wrapped up by now, else I might have stepped in sooner (I only started yesterday)

here's a shot of a version I've been working on (I thought Skwire had gotten sidetracked)

File_Funnel.jpg

it's perhaps not as 'comprehensive' as Skwires offering and I've still got some details to work out, but it seems to meet your requirements

If he named the kid Jon Blake Cusack.dll that might be a different story(or even a whole library.)

totally impractical - just think how difficult it would be to communicate
Might even get him executed!
-cranioscopical (October 12, 2009, 07:42 PM)

think what he'd be like as a teenager, no grunts or sullen silences, just ones and zeros...

Might never come out of his shell.  Even if he did, it might be with a resounding thunk!

most likely you'd just get a BSOD...

he decided on the name Jon Blake Cusack 2.0
Fair enough, but how do you teach him that it's rude two point?
-cranioscopical (October 12, 2009, 11:27 AM)

and will he spend the rest of his life trying to make a floating point?
Oh, if he tries that he'll soon come to a full stop!

you're decimalating me!

if he was the first child, would he also earn the tag 'beta'?

Living Room / Re: The Pricelessware Scam (Alt.Comp.Freeware)
« Last post by Target on September 24, 2009, 10:23 PM »
I wonder why every time there is major drama in ACF that someone from there escapes, comes here, and posts about it (usually in an attempt to start a flame war of some sort here).

Does ACF see us as their nemesis or something? Does anyone that disagrees with something there need to go find their "enemy" to dump the drama on, in some sort of effort to rally a team to back them up, before they go back to ACF to "battle"?

I don't get it. Why always here on this forum? Aren't there other software related forums on the internet?

I don't think it's just this forum, I actually suspect that the protagonists are just trying to extend their field of operations.

ACF used to be quite good, there was no spam, everyone was (generally) pretty courteous, and the focus was on sharing information (like here).  Sadly those days appear to be long gone...

What the link and the group have in common is it is overrun with frauds, thieves, felons (like Bear Bottoms) scammers and Ari Silversteinn types

this pretty much sums it up, and (at least for me) the actual signal to noise ratio is now so low it's no longer worth the effort

Post New Requests Here / Re: In huge need of a formula/macro in MS Excel

One of the many things I like about Excel is that there is usually eight different ways to do anything

indeed, the proverbial cat comes to mind

Wasn't trying to knock your solution, just offering an alternative - with so many choices it's really a case of choosing the one that's most palatable to your situation...
