BWAHAHAHAHA~! That was awesome!

My neighbour is a kiwi. I forget whether it was her or someone else pointing out the pronunciation of 'e' is often like 'i' in New Zealand.

Every now and then I learn a new word, and those with me get a kick out of me not knowing some terminology/slang.

Accents around here are pretty wild though. There's an extreme diversity.

Here's a list of some friends and neighbours by ethnicity and accent (there are some interesting mixes).

Egyptian - Victorian Australian accent
Egyptian - Arabic English accent with some Victorian Australian smoothing
Irish - Irish accent
Indian - Victorian Australian accent (no Indian accent)
Canadian - Canadian accent
Australian - Queensland accent
Vietnamese - British RP mixed with Victorian Australian accent (and she's North Vietnamese, not south)
Vietnamese - North Vietnamese English accent largely smoothed by Victorian Australian English
Sudanese - Thick accent with Victorian Australian accent smoothings
Croatian - Heavy Australian accent (that I can't make out the location - seems Queenslandish, but he's never lived there) with Croatian tones
Swedish - Heavy Swedish English accent with very little Australian English smoothing (he's 80ish and has lived here for 50+ years)

Anyways, just one of those things of casual interest.

I should go out on my deck for a fag now. ;) :P

I'd never seen this before. At first I thought it was a parody, but no, it's the real deal.

Yes, in fact it is! Time to test out Seagate.

I had a Seagate drive die of SMART errors. They replaced it zero questions and in record time. I walked up to the desk, said what happened - handed him my drive - he got a new one and handed it to me. I was pretty shocked at how easy and fast it was.

I've pretty much read everything every written by Nietzsche. A few times. He's a douche. I'm being kind.

This is a great comic:

Lots of dead philosophers there. Some are pretty damn good. But quite a few you need to know who they are to get the joke.

Snowden? Helped ISIS/ISIL?

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA~!

Perhaps we'd best take a word from our sponsor, the US military and  Lt. Gen. Tom McInerney:

"So we helped build ISIS."

In other news... 11 jets missing. 9 days before 9/11.

Aliens on the Moon: The Truth Exposed

No image. But it's on YouTube:

It's about how there are aliens on the moon. And probably Mars as well.

Lots of fun! 8)

CommonMark looks pretty good. The specification uses LOTS of examples. Oh god, is that refreshing to see! Far, far too often specs have some kind of rule that is never demonstrated. They really make the specification a lot easier to read and understand with the countless examples.

"Example 441"

For anyone that has ever implemented any part of an RFC or standard, that just makes life so much easier. All too often rules have some bit of ambiguity, and examples help clarify the intent.

As for the standard there, I only glossed over it, but it seems consistent. They took 2 years to create it, so I'm pretty certain that they've got it down right. High marks for that. ;)

As for picking standards, I suppose that I'm in favour of whatever standard is open, unencumbered, works, and well-supported or in common usage. This looks like it would fit that.

Definitely check out Euphonic Sessions, you won't regret it. While A State of Trance is great, ES is by far my favorite. Paul Van Dyks podcast is pretty good too. Get back to me on this Phil guy...

That was it! Paul Van Dyk! It's been a while. :)

One of the nice things about those kinds of podcasts is that you can listen to them over and over. Heck, I couldn't count how many times I listened to this - 8 hours long - used to listen to it while working.

Phew! I could never dictate anything if I were that stoned! Good on ya!

My most listened to podcasts is Euphonic Sessions with Kyau & Albert - Nice and LONG trance play lists, for those long runs.

Ah! I'll need to check that out. I used to listen to a lot of Armin Van Buren and Phil somethingsomething (forget at the moment).

My last LG monitor was a CRT. It was really good. But, that was a while back. CRTs are kinda hard to rotate too. :)

If you aren't already paranoid about  just how much information Google and others are collecting about you, this article by Woody Leonhard will probably cure you of your complacency.

Cured long ago.

I couldn't even be bothered reading the rest of the article after that.

There aren't many surprises for anyone that's paid any attention to any of those issues.

But it gets worse. A lot worse. The article author just starts to scratch the surface of the behemoth. Here's one article that should terrify people. Call it a beta test or pilot. But there are so many more nightmares out there.

Smart TVs are simply extensions of a large network, and you have less control over them than you think. Smart Homes anyone? Why not just broadcast every time you take a dump?

If you can't have privacy when you go to the bathroom, do you have any at all?

Years ago I used to listen to Twit & Security Now, Scott Hanselman's podcast (now much expanded), and The Project Studio Network (now defunct) regularly.

My current favourites are (top 3 are my top favs):

They all have Youtube channels as that's much easier to deal with - I don't need to download anything and I can play it on my tablet in the kitchen while cooking/cleaning or whatever.

I tend to grab random podcasts when they have some guests on their shows that I like. e.g. Tom Woods had Larken Rose on, and I found that his show was so good that I kept it on as one of the main shows I listen to. If you like really, truly in-depth history, economics, theory, etc., with expert guests, you might like The Tom Woods Show -- that's what I liked - great experts on focused topics, and Tom is just a brilliant interviewer - one of the best I've heard (yes - much better than Larry King or Amy Goodman).

But, finding podcasts by searching for guests tends to be a good way to find new ones from my own experience.

Probably not that many people would be interested in them, so I'm not bothering with descriptions. The acid test would be to check the Anarchast intro - if you like that, then you'd like a lot of the other stuff. Otherwise, feel free to call me batshit crazy. :P 8)

There are a lot of irregular shows that I watch/listen to as well. All the agricultural ones that I subscribe to are like that.
