That's funny.

How about 'dot cat' or 'Cat.NET'?

Desktop here. Interestingly, Ashley @ CybernetNews recently published a short article about Reasons You Could Hate a Laptop and posted the following reader question: "Do you prefer a laptop or desktop, and is there anything that you’d change to make it the perfect computer?"

Press the Win key + M to minimize all windows first and then Alt+F4. That should bring up the "Turn Off" dialog.

If that does not work for you, you may want to try 2 other methods:

- Win key + R key to open the run window. Type shutdown -s -t 00. (append a -f switch if some applications / processes won't let you shutdown).

- Ctrl+Esc key

Alt+F4 brings up the shut down menu. Then by pressing U you tell the machine to "Turn Off". R is for "Restart.

You could also create a shortcut on your desktop. E.g. Shutdown = shutdown -s -t 0 and Restart = shutdown -r -t 0
You could give it icons and/or assign hotkeys (right click ---> Properties)

Autohide Icons

Haven't tried it myself yet but it looks like it can hide desktop icons on mouse over.

I also seemed to have installed a '6th sense firewall' plugin that causes me to wake up and yell at my husband whenever he just thinks about getting too close to my PC while I am asleep.  ;D

Is this '6th sense firewall' open source and does it also work without a husband? You could make a killing with this tool.

My main antivirus is Common Sense (upgrades available daily).  ;)

Sounds like a good AV! Do you do remote scanning as well?

BTW, Avast does On Demand Scanning.

3515 and 6250 rpm?! Jesus Christ, that should sound like a jet engine. Do you have a DFI motherboard as well?

Summers are pretty hot and humid in Hong Kong so I open the PC case and use the fan to cool off my toes  ;). My machine is very quite and there's no need to control the fan speed. No, just a standard ASUS MB A8N-SLI model.

I use Samurize. Here's one of my configs. I have a multi Mon setup.

Samaurise looks nice on your computer Phil !!
does one still have to do a lot of customising of it to get it going AND looking good?
(I tried it briefly, or should i say -tried to try it- a couple of years ago but never got off the ground with it)

Yes, but that's the beauty of Samurize - endless customizing and skinning possibilities, and it uses very little resources (Memory and CPU). BTW, you could use Samurize on the taskbar and replace the tray clock with it as well. There are a few tutorials on its Website to get you started but the best way, IMO, to go about it is to download a config that you like, open it in the editor and see how it's been made. Check out these sidebar gadgets to see the posibilities.

If I need (want) to see how my drive is doing, I will simply point at PS Tray Factory's tray icon, and all sorts of information will pop up. I find this to be smarter than to have to minimize all windows.

On XP press Windows Key + D to quickly minimize all Windows (same as Show Desktop button on the taskbar).

I'm surprised this isn't a common request by people who perform demos and presentations.  I wonder if it's something that might be available in the MS Intellimouse drivers (or Logitech's drivers).

You must have missed this Virtual Flashlight Idea / Discussion

SpotOnTheMouse was mentioned as well.

Hope that explains things a bit.

It certainly does, tnx. Will give SetSafer a try.

Nice blog justice

There are plenty of 'Run as non Admin' tools listed @ nonadmin, why did you choose SetSafer over the others?
