Living Room / Re: Arizona sunsets
« Last post by Arizona Hot on March 19, 2017, 07:38 PM »
I am not going to restrict this thread to just sunsets. Below is this morning's sunrise. I would have posted it sooner but I forgot I had already transferred all the pictures to the computer and the only thing left in the camera was a sunrise video I mistakenly made.  :-[ (if you want to see a mistake video let me know).

but it has manual setting too doesn't it?

Definitely, but I haven't needed to use them and like you said it would take a long time to learn how to set them. These are casual pictures. I am not seeking artistic or photographic perfection or exotic attainment. If you want the manual you can get it here or it is attached below.

And it is considered a point-and-shoot or travel camera.

Do tell! I already have it. I am planning to get a more powerful system to avoid these problems.

Actually, I suspect that you can't fail to take a nice shot.

Actually, I can. I just don't post them here. If the new thread is accepted generally, I will post some of them there so you can see some of my less stunning pictures.

I have started a new thread named (ta-daa) "Arizona sunsets" to avoid them being everything in my posts here.

The purpose of this thread is to provide @IainB with sunsets (and maybe others) and not fill Show us the View Outside Your Window with them.

I dreamed I was a butterfly, flitting around in the sky; then I awoke. Now I wonder: Am I a man who dreamt of being a butterfly, or am I a butterfly dreaming that I am a man?

General Software Discussion / Re: Windows 10 Announced
« Last post by Arizona Hot on March 05, 2017, 10:10 PM »
I have found that Win 10 takes a long time to start up. If I connect my Sony Cybershot DSC-HX20V camera right after the icon bar stops changing, the computer freezes because programs are still loading or initializing. I will have to use Task Manager to know when everything is done and ready for something new. If I don't set the computer to sleep sometime, Windows is buggy after sitting with the screen turned off for a few hours. I will have to re-enter my Microsoft password again, but the alternative is worse.

They are pretty impressive pix. Beautiful.

I didn't see the enlarged picture IainB will marvel at when I took it. All I saw was a very red sunset. Does this picture compare favorably with my post #372 sunset picture? I think I still need more experience with the camera to get the best out of it. It takes very good pictures, but I need to be better at making the best use of it.

Looks like it could be vertically-rising smoke from an industrial chimney, or something. Would have to be wind-less over there to look like that though. How likely is that?

It's probably a jet vapor trail. The picture below and other sunsets can be found here:

Why didn't I attach them to the post? They're 38 and 25 MB in size.

The vertical thing at the far right was in the sky and is not a camera artifact.

Actually I was leaving the trailer to do something else, when I saw that view, took the pictures, made the panorama and then went to do what I originally intended to do. Distractions...distractions...distractions.
