After install when trying to run the programme I get:

Reinstalling doesn't fix the problem  :(

I've tried both the portable and the non-portable...

A couple of quick questions:
  • Do you have a page that explains the field set up screen? There were some options there that don't seem to be used by the default database.
  • Is there a File Requester that can be attached to a field (that is a path type)? Or is drag and drop a possibility? I know you can drop onto the grid and a new record will be created, but it'd be handy to be able to fill specific fields.
  • Any thought about having child grids that are different to the parent (similar to how Access will display a related table), so for example you could have an invoice grid with children that are invoice items that display a different set of fields??

What you can do however, is to select multiple items and apply formatting to them as a group

Which would work even better with a Format Painter  :)

Am I right in remembering that Conditional Formating is planned as well?

When Commodore finally woke up and made ARexx part of the Amiga bundle they did many Amiga users a big favour.
The ability to cherry pick applications and create a custom suite of software that was also tied into the shell was great.

It's probably what I miss most about my windows experience too.

I've just remembered SBase too... how could I forget??

I see the 'new' Amiga OS has just been released... finally.

I've read some user's posts about it, sounds somewhat temping, but maybe not quite enough.

Looking back, one of the most useful things about Amigas was the AREXX port in each programme. It allowed me to tie many programmes together in my office... GoldED was the text editor, PageStream was the DTP, ProVector for drawings...

I remember the first coding I did was to alter the BASIC programme that came with the setup disks; someone had hard coded the response to the question "What's your name?" to "Tiffany's a nice name!"

I wonder what I'd really think if I was able to dust it off again... memory is such a funny thing, eh?

I tried roboform a while back and I didnt like it all that much. Now as a form filler it is a good product, but as a password manager I wouldnt really use it - I would have to reinstall it to put my finger on what exactly I didnt like, but in part it did feel quite naggy and it didnt inspire my trust...

You've hit the nail on the head! It really is a Form Filler. I don't think it's got the functionality to fill non-web controls. And that is the only thing that bugs me about RoboForm... it's a hassle to put your general passwords in there as it's hard to get them out (can't even drag and drop, you have to copy and paste).

does your about box say 2.37.03?

No it says 2.37.01 : It seems that the programme page is the one out of step  :-\

What is the current version number by the way??

sometimes what happens is i release a super minor update that is so trivial i dont want to bother the people via dcupdate.  maybe i nice solution would be a way to mark updates as betas, and then have have dcupdater option to check if you want to be notified of such things.. something like that.

You couldn't use the build number? Are you using Major.Minor.Build?? That way you could select to update on either/or Major/Minor/Build changes??

Hi Mouser:

My DcUpdateer is reporting SC as Web Version 2.37.01 and up to date, where as Latest Releases reports the latest version is 2.37.03, whereas the Latest Version Info thread and the Programme Page reports 2.37.01.

General Software Discussion / Anybody else play with ProWebSurfer?
« Last post by Perry Mowbray on December 02, 2007, 06:25 AM »
I've only just found it and am giving it a spin...

You can view a demo here:
http://www.prowebsurfer.com/pwswebsitevideo/video/demo/output/demo/demo.html
Screenshot - 2_12_2007 , 11_21_33 PM.png

But, basically, it removes advertisements and replaces them with images from albums of your choosing (notice the pretty images of flowers in the above graphic?): you can have your own albums, which as they say, is a nifty way to view your photos as you browse (like listening to your music  ;) )

Be interested in any comments...

Oh it so pains me to hear all the praise for Roboform...  :( (Yeah... I know it's a good product, but it's still the competition - well... kind of... it's not free...)

I know... it took me years and years to finally "jump ship"... but I'm glad I did: it really is superior to everything I've tried.

However, I will have an announcement in a few weeks for something that does have a very high cool factor, and for password managment, will certainly be of interest for some people here.

Well, that's exciting... if you need people to play, I'd be happy to  :D

My first was PINs for many years.

Then moved to KeePass briefly.

Finally settled on RoboForm and then RoboForm2Go: now I can't live without them  :-*  :-*. Have it based at home and sync'd onto my USB stick for work.

RoboForm is hard to beat, it just does everything with a great deal of ease. Definitely worth the money!

I think the best investment I made many years ago was to buy a second-hand Wacom 12x12 tablet. It was really cheap at the time, I think the fellow was desperate for some cash, and I got a great deal (made me feel a little guilty though :-[ the deal was too good)

I built a cradle under the desk so that it slides away when I don't want it, and it's still really easy to get at (and I don't have to worry about its footprint  ;)).

The large size really is fantastic, and makes the absolute positioning brilliant. Took a bit to get used to: but it was an extravagant and excellent purchase I'll never regret! Works with everything, though the newer models have better sensitivity, but for my level of use it's more than adequate.

I rely on my Download Manager, which saves the files to a "use" category folder within one large Downloads/Software folder.

That works for me, if and when space got to be an issue, I think I'd archive onto an external drive or CD. Actually, CD would probably be my choice.

I wonder why the supermarkets seem to be selling the 5-years-back technology.

Maybe we should lobby for Use By Dates on Non-Perishables??  ;)

LaunchBar commander is my first choice for "static" things like programmes

I'm trying to get used to FARR, but for the everyday application launching LBC is quicker by far[r] (sorry  :-[)

There's a bit been said about applications that have a key hook, I wonder what the possibility of FARR implementing "universal" ears so that it could use text input from any window not just FARR's??

It certainly would be quicker to just type calc(3*6) somewhere and have another application do the calculation, well that's not too difficult with AHK or AutoIT anyway, but my point is just typing in an application is quicker than going to the toolbar, etc, etc.

I just downloaded it today & have 2.2something - 2.3 must be Beta will go check

It would be good to hear what you think.

I only found binaries for 2.2.17 (from memory), the source is released for versions up to 2.4 but I have not seen any binaries above 2.2

With all the buzz about global warming and energy conservation, I wonder what positions members here are taking.

Anything we do is not because of Global Warming, I'm more interested in Resource Efficiency or a moral use of resources. What we're using at current rates is not sustainable and probably not fair either (just look at what Australia is doing to East Timor!).

The cause of Global Warming is still debated. Available resources are not (unfortunately), well, the availability of oil is debated with the relative interest in Peak Oil. Actually, Peak Oil is also debated across East-West lines: The Russians developed a theory after Stalin that Crude Oil is a renewable resource, known as Abiotic Oil.

Wouldn't that be strange if it turned out that Crude Oil was Abiotic and renewable? That would have serious consequences for Global Warming (if global warming is affected by the burning to crude oil).

In many ways it doesn't really matter: we can't keep increasing in the use of oil as we'll surpass the ability for Abiotic Oil to generate, creating a peak (or is that plateau??).

So where are we at??

Oil is incredibly precious: so we don't drive if we don't have to; we've reduced our car "fleet" down to just one (thanks to a local job and the kids leaving home).

But Oil is not just petrol. Oil is used in just about every facet of our lives, so we also try and reduce the use of plastics, fertilisers, buy local goods not transported, etc.

Water is probably even more precious! We've got flow limiters on showers, taps, etc and public floggings for long showers!  ;) A rainwater tank would be a good idea but not economically viable at the moment (although I'm sure price rises will change that - the price of our water is relatively cheap and doesn't reflect its true cost).

Electricity in Australia is generated by burning coal (well something like 93%). I can't remember our coal reserves but they are vast (but wont last forever). We have Micro-fluorescents (with mixed effects: you're right Lashiec, just replaced a bulb the other day that only lasted a year!) and try to turn things off when not in use.

Recycle everything we can, compost what can't be recycled, sell or give to a good home anything else... and never go to the rubbish tip  :D

am i [going] nuts
or
is there no "pan" tool in GImP ?

Is this what you want:
Screenshot - 19_09_2007 , 9_31_57 PM.png

Edit: Actually it's not as it only moves the selection etc. Found this on gimp.org... panning was apparently added in 2.3 (they're gearing up to release a stable 2.4 at the moment):

Changes in GIMP 2.3.12
======================
- merged the Perspective Clone tool
- allow to pan the image view using the Space bar

I'm guessing there are other tools like this available

Hmmm... I wasn't sure but when looking I found this interesting site with lots of (unknown quality) image creators...
http://www.signgenerator.org/links.htm

Should be something there for everyone  ;)

Edit, these are i think the default settings, never occurred to me to change them lol

When I popped an extra hard drive into my machine I decided to have a look at what was a good idea for partitioning.

What I discovered was a subject of strongly opinionated options...

I found this page helpful, and in the end though I didn't think I had anything to lose  :) so I ended up implementing something like what was suggested.

And if it makes you feel any better tomos, I think I did exactly the same thing when I was setting up mine (and I too remembered putting in the slash too!)... and it took me a bit of looking to find the problem (so yours was like a "happy" memory  ;))
1325
trying to install dc software (updater, etc) I get the message
"unable to create temporary to extract to"
so obviously temp folder is not accessible

I note that you have not got back slashes in your path:
Screenshot - 14_09_2007 , 7_58_41 PM.png

Is that an issue? I have back slashes in mine (previous post)  :-\
