Do I detect the subtext "Meh" in your response?  :P  Hey, all I'm saying is that it's kinda cool that a USB drive I bought years ago is still functioning, and functioning well at that...

After all these years, my 2.5 GB Seagate pocket drive still works perfectly. I use it regularly, just to appreciate how fast my USB 2.0 devices are, in comparison  ;D

Just scanned it: no bad sectors, no file system errors...

Kyrathaba I'm gonna use your post to go on a mini-rant about "Apps". Basically, they're an excuse to give us less quality than any other shareware ever did. And it's amazing. It's like sinking to the bottom. If everyone pushes the same low quality, users forget that real software exists and that "free" means "disatrous experience until you pay $3-$8 for the real thing".

Eew.

I have seen some cases of the worst quality I have ever seen in any software ever, including the ones I spent 99c on for repackaging Librivox SciFi recordings, as well as others that pop up ads every 12 interactions.

It's like they're trying to make people forget nothing but the App Store ever existed ever. And that "Free" means "Crap".

Yep, I feel your pain.

Still, I'm sure that NVIDIA and ATI could manage to crash it. They have years of experience!

LOL!  ;D

I vaguely recall a parable about a poor old woman and a rich merchant. They both donate to something and the resultant praise at the end is for the poor old woman because she gave so much compared to what she had, and that not being much at all. (Maybe someone recalls the parable better, or has a link.)

Luke 21:1-4...

21 As Jesus looked up, he saw the rich putting their gifts into the temple treasury. 2 He also saw a poor widow put in two very small copper coins. 3 “Truly I tell you,” he said, “this poor widow has put in more than all the others. 4 All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.”

I would probably need lots of gigabytes just to tell you, where in PI the Avengers movie is.

Speaking of lots of gigabytes. ..

I might need to let it scale switch up to TB from your totals. ...Or is having it read x,000 GB just too much fun to let go of?

My thought is, make it optional (GB or TB units).

Fantastic program. I still run it from time to time, from my pen-drive suite. Here's a screenshot after I JBODed a pair of old discs (some of them partititioned). LOTS of free storage space!

The world wide web, for two reasons: (1) the dozens of DCers I'd never have otherwise met (and goodly folk on other sites); (2) all that information at our fingertips (rubs hands together)...

Living Room / Re: The Cost of Rudeness
« Last post by kyrathaba on February 02, 2013, 02:16 PM »
But in my dealings with people, including developers (not sure about software though) I mostly manage these days to cut out the rude/angry/demanding parts in my initial post/whatever.
With people interactions, I do notice that even if I do get angry - so long as I can leave all that other crap listed above to one side, there's a good chance of a fairly clean resolution to an interaction.

I've found the same to be true in my professional and personal life.

In the winter when you have heat running, it can make your house very dry.  Until I started measuring humidity and running a humidifier, my house could get down to 15 and even 10% humidity, which I never realized was an issue.. but when i started running serious humidifier the improvement was noticeable -- less waking up to dry eyes and throat, etc.

So.. my second recommendation is a serious humidifier.

But severe allergy sufferers be careful. Allergists warn that increasing home humidity will make a more hospitable environment for some allergens.
