...and after a long, painful tour de force at Google (I was only successful with the 36th search, grr) I found the movie which the effect is from: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0356618/ The Forgotten (2004) - I really enjoyed that one!

I kinda doubt *any* program could change sensitivity, but for the rest... you know the answer :D

If you already know it, I'm looking forward to see one of your scripts soon!

Or a software that extends the capabilitys of the keyboard/mouse beyond those found in the native software.

Is there any stuff like that out there?
You asked in the right place! :)

Thanks skrommel, good work!

It works on my W2k, I just have this problems/requests:

- could you let the user enable/disable it by clicking its icon? While programs like this are active, drag'n'drop of links to Windows' Start button are not possible.

- Version 1.2 reports it's 1.0 in its dialog

- when the tool is active I can't use Zoom Player in full-screen mode! It would just display a black screen instead of the video... had the same problem when I tested PS Tray Factory, its author didn't answer my bug reports yet...

- after I exit it, I'm seeing the programs running in my taskbar AND/OR the quickstart icons blurred, they look like this:

I don't think Alfaclock has a free version...it "expires" after a certain amount of time and you can't open it after that.
Oh, I see... :(

so things are looking up!

I hope you are right :)

AARRGH!!  Alfaclock 2 just become shareware.  I can't bring myself to pay $30 for a freakin clock replacement.
Then try to be happy with the latest free version ;)

And hope app103's replacement (see above) will be as good or even better, I'm looking forward to the final version.

General Software Discussion / Re: General brainstorming for Note-taking software
« Last post by brotherS on February 28, 2006, 02:19 AM »
Here's what I propose:  the categories or labels can be structured in the tree/heirarchy format, but the individual notes can be placed in multiple branches of that tree. Maybe Gmail can do this also...confirmation BrotherS?
Google Mail does show the labels in a alphabetical order, and you can label every email with as many labels as you like - I don't label some at all, many get one label, and then some get two or three labels.

Living Room / Re: protection from keylogging threats
« Last post by brotherS on February 28, 2006, 02:08 AM »
Anyone know the best way to protect against keylogging that grabs passwords?
The article itself gives some hints:

The monitoring programs are often hidden inside ordinary software downloads, e-mail attachments or files shared over peer-to-peer networks. They can even be embedded in Web pages, taking advantage of browser features that allow programs to run automatically.
Just don't click any attachment you get, don't download/run every .exe you find online/in P2P-networks :)

Personally, I don't see how I could lose money with that. Here, you don't need just a password for online banking, you also need a different password (from a list you have on paper) every time you transfer money online.

Maybe it could work for Paypal etc.

What's the Best? / Re: Anti-Virus Package
« Last post by brotherS on February 27, 2006, 04:07 PM »
Thanks for the post Carol.  The "BN" rating refers the the rating from BetaNews FileForum.
Great post! I immediately knew where those ratings are coming from, but "BN" doesn't say much to most of the DC members I suppose. What about linking the BN rating: text directly, like I'm doing now?

@LuckMan212: Linking the "BN rating:" like I suggested would also have the benefit that users would be able to read the comments on http://fileforum.betanews.com/ which I often find very helpful! With only one click!

Hmm... maybe make that an option, so the user could decide whether to use A_TimeIdle or A_TimeIdlePhysical?

Hehe, funny idea on their site:

Total Downloads: 72,035

Savings vs. Buying
Microsoft Project:

$ 43,148,965
€ 35,886,994
£ 24,318,757

You could do the same with Screenshot Captor :)

I'm having 5.0.2195.7032.

But how can I update a system file that Windows is using constantly?
-brotherS
Microsoft does it all the time. If the function is not available in your current user32.dll then this script won't work.
And why was I able to set the transparency with other programs before?
-brotherS
I don't know, what programs were they?
The only one I can remember right now is PS Tray Factory from http://www.pssoftlab.com/

Go to your system folder and see what version of user32.dll you have, mine is version 5.1.2600.2622. You should be able to download a newer version on the net. That should solve the problem.
According to the msdn documents SetLayeredWindowAttributes should be available for win 2000 and up. If it doesn't work for you then you need to upgrade your user32.dll.
