I can see that if things go the way you want, that little application box is going to get veeeery full.  One thing I would like to see is a tree view where plugin updates are a subtree of the program they update.  Automatically expanded only if there are updates. Maybe an option to show only applications or plugins that have updates.  Perhaps the ability to create "folders" in there to organize the apps.  I could create a DonationCoder folder and put all of your programs in it.

When DCUpdater updates itself, it is losing at least some of my options.  Under General Optons, I have "start minimized", "close to tray", and "pop up on available update" selected.  After updating the program those options are no longer selected and I have to go in and reselect them.

Hey mouser, awesome program as usual.  You have a knack for mixing usability with geekiness and coming up with a program that is appealing for a large audience.

I have noticed one wee issue, minor really.  When you have the program to close to tray and pop up on update, when the window pops up it creates a second icon in the tray.  I did say it was minor   Not sure if this is by design, but it is a little unsightly to me.

That is why I think some kind of MAC address tracker would be a better result...You upload your MAC address to a database and then if your laptop gets stolen, you send out a query looking for the address...

I don't see how that would work, since the mac address isn't used past the local subnet.  Even if the software intercepted each outbound foreign packet and inserted it in there somewhere it wouldn't be any more identifying than the IP address.

Ahhh long startups. I remember those. They are a thing of the past for me though.  Ever since I started using Startup Delayer everything has been groovy.  It lets me arrange the order of my startup items so I can put the stuff I want going quick at the front, and put the stuff I just don't care when they start at the end, and set the delay between each item.  One of the best applications, EVER.  Right up there with FARR.

i use it mainly to transfer files from my hard-drive to thumb drives and also to my mobile.. i like the way it sits in the tray doing the job unobtrusively..

I hadn't visited this thread in a bit, and decided to check in. 

Thanks for posting those speed comparisons, but for me, the speed issue isn't why I use SuperCopier.  The speed difference is pretty trivial all in all, but what I use it for is the ability to throttle copy speed (I do use this feature) and to allow XP to not just bomb on copy or move errors.  I also like the ability to insert or remove items from a running copy.  So, for me its a no brainer:  SuperCopier hands down.  I just wish they would make it work properly under Vista.  Even with Vista's enhancements to the copy/move dialog (no longer just dies on errors for one) I still much prefer the way SuperCopier works.  I tried TeraCopy and just didn't like it at all.

Yea, I love SuperCopier... I haven't found a copy replacement yet that comes close.  To answer a question someone posted back a ways, yes, Windows Vista does improve the copy/move process a little.  At least it no longer just stops on an error, and it gives you a checkbox that allows you to specify repeat any action for a particular condition.  SuperCopier is still better though, too bad the shell integration doesn't work on Vista.  You can still use it but you have to do it manually.

Wow.  I checked out that link for Do-Organizer.  They want to sell you the contacts and calendar sections seperately.  I figured the add-ons would be something extra special.  No, they actually want you to buy the base program, then pay extra for: calendar, contacts, tasks...  Is it? Could it be? Yes, I do believe that is the dumbest thing I have ever seen.

Edit: Just for giggles I added up the base program and all the modules:  $169.45.  Nice.

I'm going to have to throw my support behind EssentialPIM too.  Its very self contained, even has a portable version.  Small, fast, has most of the features I want in a PIM.  I have never experienced database problems but I am also not a heavy duty user, I am just not that organized.  My only complaint has always been the only contacts view being a grid view and I was told by Max that they are planning to add more contact views.  Great program.

For startup issues you can find out where the problem lies often by using MSConfig and disabling all regular startup apps and see if the problem is gone, if not go in and disable all 3rd party (non MS) start up services, etc.  I have got to mention a program I found a little while ago and am in love with:

This takes over the launching of startup apps and you can define the order in which they load and the delay between them.  It brings my system to a usable state as SOON as I log in and continues starting up stuff over the course of the next two minutes.  I have all the junk that needs starting but I don't care about when it starts at the end, and all the stuff I just gotta have at the beginning.  I LOVE this program.  Also, if you choose GUI mode startup it gives you this cool bar across the top letting you know what its doing, when startup is complete the bar goes away and you know its over. 

And my opinion on ZoneAlarm is no one should ever use the free version for anything, ever.  It sucks on every possible level you can imagine.

Cthorpe, just wanted to post on here and let you know that ImageZoom was exactly what I wanted.  After enabling the hidden feature it does what I wanted.  I saw someone posted that they had problems with it, but I don't.  I don't notice a performance hit at all.

Plus I like that you can fit and unfit large images with the rightmouse then leftmouse and rightmouse then middlemouse button presses.  Thanks again for the pointer.

Ok, that was a little melodramatic.  The issue is Firefox's apparent inability to automatically resize imbedded images (like when posted on forums and such). So huuuge images don't get resized.  IE also has the same problem.  I can post an example if you don't get me.

Question is, is there an add-on for firefox to address this issue?

Darwin, I use Paint.Net (since I am cheap and so very rarely do any graphics stuff since I suck at it), have you ever used that and if so how does that and this compare?  I am sure this is much much more comprehensive than the free Paint.Net program but I find that it does everything I need.  I am just curious.

Here, let me take a stab at it too.  While a raid MIRROR can be used as a backup RAID configurations of any flavor can only help you versus one type of failure: physical.  It can't save you from data corruption or your own error.  Any corruption or user modifications will be propagated to the mirror or other drives in the array.

My backup is just an external USB2 drive and Acronis TrueImage 10.  I have a folder on the drive set up as a backup location with 1 full image and 4 incrementals in a set, then it repeats with a full image again.  I have it set to keep 10 total backups, so it keeps 2 sets (weekdays only).  That gives me the ability to recover from a full hard drive failure or recover up to two weeks back  from my own stupidity (something deleted I shouldn't have, or screwed up by me) or through something else going wrong to the file system, etc.  RAID can't help you if you accidently delete a file and don't catch it for a few days (so undelete is unlikely), but a backup rotation can.

You beat me to it, I installed IE7Pro mostly for the link dragging and dropping, ever since I installed that addon on Firefox it is an absolutely indispensable function to me.  I almost never use IE7, but when I have to it is nice to have that functionality.  Didn't IE7Pro add addblock too? I dunno, I use it so infrequently.
