Try setting:

Blend Mode: NORMAL
Transparency: 255

Does that do what you want?

No need to apologize -- you can bet that if you're having this problem, others are too.

If the text is barely visible -- it sounds like maybe you have a transparency value set low, or a strange blend mode.  And if you're still seeing the box around the text and don't want to, uncheck the "border color" box.

Bottom line: Select the text box and adjust the options in the panel that will show up on your right.

I wasn't asking if you drew one yet, I was simply asking if we've earned one yet, or if we need to ramp up the petition campaign.  :)

Find And Run Robot / Re: I want to see only .exe files and .lnk
« Last post by mouser on December 21, 2011, 10:30 PM »
Kunkel, while your technique will work, there is a much better way to do it.

If you really only want to show lnk and exe, then the way to do it is go to Search Folders, select only the ones you want, and then edit them to say they should only return exe and lnk files, by specifying Optional file extension restrictions of: exe;lnk

This is much more efficient than handling it via scores, as you are currently doing.

Score adjustments are very useful if you still want other files to show but you want them to have lower scores so they show up lower in list.  But if you really don't want other extensions to show, you are much better served using the file extension restrictions in each Search Folder configuration.

Clipboard Help+Spell / Re: Feature request: tooltip
« Last post by mouser on December 20, 2011, 07:01 AM »
The only potential problem here is an issue that came up with we talked about tooltip of system tray icons in the past, it seems that Windows 7 uses the tooltip to remember system tray hide/unhide identification, and so it can mess with people's settings to always show tray icon, etc.

My apologies.. I just got backed up with other work.. I've actually fixed a couple of small bugs in FlipSuite this past weekend and will get to the layout stuff this week.

DonationCoder.com Newsletters / Newsletter for December 19, 2011 - "Snowy Feathers"
« Last post by mouser on December 19, 2011, 11:51 PM »
Newsletter for December 19, 2011
"Codename: Snowy Feathers"

1. Newsletter Editorial

Greetings and happy holidays!  It's 45 degrees here in Illinois as I write this -- a mild winter so far.  Personally I prefer to see a little snow on the ground in December.   There are about 12 days left until the new year (it takes 48 hours to send out the newsletter to all of you so your mileage may vary).  And that means less than 12 days until our year-end NANY event: New Apps for the New Year 2012.

You should know about NANY by now -- it's where we ask the coders of all skill levels who hang out on our site to try to release a new program to celebrate the upcoming year.  Some of the programs are just experiments, some are large full-featured applications.  The event is open to all coders, and there is no winner -- everyone who participates gets a coffee mug featuring our mascot Cody.  If you're a coder, or you know someone who is, there's still plenty of time to take part -- just drop by our forum and announce your intent to do so.

And please do join us on New Years to cheer on all of the participants!

2. NANY UPDATES

There have been quite a few new NANY updates and releases in the last couple of weeks, including a big one by me.  And probably a few more to come in the final days.  Take a few moments to browse some of the entries and offer some constructive suggestions to the coders.

3. DonationCoder Software Updates and Discussions

I hope you'll allow me the indulgence of talking a bit more about the substantial new application that I released as my NANY entry.  Web Link Captor will be publicly available on January 1st, but it already has a home page and a video overview, and anyone who wants to get early access can simply send me a message on the forum.  Web Link Captor takes a list of plaintext items, and builds an output document containing a list of url-linked results based on web searches for the items. It's a way to quickly build a clickable list of items from just their names, suitable for posting on your blog or a forum, etc.

4. User-to-User: Your Input Requested

We love nothing more than having interesting discussions on our forum -- and we love when new people participate in the discussions.  In each newsletter we try to highlight a few topics that we think might interest casual readers and that are good candidates for making your first post.

5. Mini-Reviews, Coding Snacks, and other DC Member Software Threads

The Coding Snacks section is one of the things that people love the most about DonationCoder -- it's where anyone can post a request for a custom piece of software -- and often find the requests granted overnight as one of the coders who inhabit our forum writes it as a free utility (lately DC member Skwire has been running circles around the rest of us, coding requests faster than lightning!)

6. Fun, Humor, and Amusements on the Web

You've made it half way through the newsletter, so let's have a break.  Go make yourself an egg cream soda, and check out these fun websites and videos!

7. General Software Discussion

Almost half the posts on the DC forum take the form of general software discussions, questions, recommendations, etc. These posts wind up in the General Software Discussion section and make it one of the most active sections of the DC forum. This is a great resource if you're trying to solve a software or hardware-related problem. We get so much traffic on this board that we split the recent content into two sections in the newsletter - general software and specific software discussions.

8. Specific Software Discussion

This section of the newsletter draws attention to some of the standout discussions about specific programs that have been started since the last newsletter.

9. Developer's Corner

The title of this section shouldn't scare you off - there is definitely something of interest for everyone here! It's more than just a section for the discussion of software development, it's also where we discuss web design, entrepreneurial ideas, and general productivity issues.  It's great to see that the section has been pretty active recently.

10. Website Discoveries, Debates, and Discussions

What's new in cyberspace? What exciting new sites have been discovered by forum members?  What's the current hot topic and debate? Read on to find out...

FARR is coded in C++.

To be specific, it's C++ Builder, which is a commercial C++ IDE made by Embarcadero (formerly CodeGear, formerly Borland) -- which supports a large collection of 3rd party user interface components (shared by its sister tool, Delphi).

Find And Run Robot / Re: auto adding to group alias feature
« Last post by mouser on December 19, 2011, 05:41 AM »
I can show you one way to speed it up quite a bit at least.

TO add a new item to an alias, simply get the file listed in the results, and then right-click on it and say add to alias.

But you know an easier way to do what you want is to create a new search folder entry specifying the folder:
D:\PROGRAM FILES\PORTABLE APPS IN HERE\FindAndRunRobotnew\my notes\t

And set it to use MODIFIER: txt

now when you type +txt it will ONLY show/search files in that directory.

Not sure yet.. After the new year I hope to catch my breath and get to some of these ideas..

Thanks tunayx.. this happens occasionally when these lazy security software companies start marking everything as "suspicious" when they have no idea what they are talking about.

You'll have to forgive me for going back on my word

Don't think of it as going back on your word, think of it simply as episode 156 of the "Watch Nudone Lose His Mind" show.  I hear it's just been picked up for another season, and season one will be on dvd soon.

Someone please send nudone a few more of these little touchscreens and film him opening them up on christmas.

Post New Requests Here / Re: IDEA: Randomly select 'n' Lines from text list
« Last post by mouser on December 18, 2011, 05:43 AM »
i do have a pretty powerful tool for this, Prize Optimizer (written about here), which does simulated annealing to optimize the distribution of multiple prizes to multiple people based on their rankings.

But it's never been released to public.. only because it gets its data from parsing email and i'd have to do a little bit of work to make it possible to manualy enter input data.

One one hand it's very useful as is since it will parse email entries with ranking and use them to create data, and then generate output emails notifying people what they won if anything.

With a bit of work i could make it so input could be done interactively.. but it's hard to justify if there are only 3 people on the planet who have any use for it.. seems like something that might be better done in modern times using an online web service..

Hi Geej,

The problem you are having is not too uncommon.. you can see in the link you pasted, that you clicked the link to get a free license key for "Drag and Drop Robot" instead of "Find and Run Robot".. different program.

The problem is because it's not so clear that you have to make sure to click on the specific link to the program you want the key for.  Try going back to the license key page and carefully clicking the link for Find and Run Robot license key.

Let us know if that works for you!
