« Last post by mouser on February 05, 2012, 03:21 PM »
Hi wheathe!

This may be a directX issue.. Capture from accelerated direct3d windows does not work as normal screenshot capturing..  Are you sure there isnt a screen grab function within x-plane?

LaunchBar Commander / Re: Dock launchbar on side, edit, save, dock leaps to top
« Last post by mouser on February 05, 2012, 03:20 PM »
Welcome Rose

That is very odd behavior.

HOWEVER,

I do see that I have a newer version I apparently haven't uploaded yet and the changelog says:
v1.130.01 - December 26, 2011
  • [BugFix] Captions were showing temporarily on submenus configured as toolbar buttons, when switching between them.
  • [BugFix] Docks (typically multiple docks) were forgetting whether they were docked or floating.
  • [AdvancedFeature] You can now configure a node with submenus to be a "Treat as tool button" menu, which will make one submenu the active button at any given time, with bottom choices to switch.

So perhaps the beta will fix your problem:

Can you try it and let me know?

General Software Discussion / Re: Adding text to an image

Definitely try Screenshot Captor for general screenshot use, but it's not going to do what you want here.
This would be a good time to learn a bit of python though -- perfect kind of thing for a little Python project.
Reminds me of the kind of thing I wrote Python Proto Cards to do.

just remember that you can set multiple hotkeys to trigger farr, so you can always set some backup ones to use if the normal key is blocked.

There should be an option for it -- let me look again.

I've been remiss in not updating FARR in a while -- I've been very busy with my imminent release of Screenshot Captor v3.

Screencast videos posted here: https://www.donation...ex.php?topic=29821.0

if they are in the same directory running twice, they are going to overwrite each others settings files.  if you really need to run copies you need to put them in two separate directories and edit their configdir.ini files to make them run in portable mode and so save their config files separately.

i may try to add support for multiple docks in the future.

Some screencast videos demostrating how to use the new Object Capture and Scrolling Window Capture tools in Screenshot Captor v3:

Using object capture (multiple objects, capturing all children):

Basic scrolling window capture:

Another scrolling window capture:

A more troublesome scrolling window capture (ms word):

Performing a scrolling window capture and adjusting settings manually:

Clipboard Help+Spell / Re: CHS capturing inconsistencies?
« Last post by mouser on February 03, 2012, 05:25 PM »
Regarding the first.. I don't know why CHS would have any problem copying something.  Does it happen even if you don't have Echo running at the same time?  What clipboard chain error do you get? Is it always when using adobe reader?

need to tweak the clip before pasting it, so I use the fancy modify/format features and do my thing, or I manually edit stuff.  Then I go to the notetaker and paste it, but it pastes the OLD version of the clip.

You must be doing something odd.  Can you be more specific about your workflow?  When you hit ACCEPT in the modify format dialog, it immediately changes the clip text for that clip, so i don't see how it could be pasting the old text.

Regarding not autofitting columns to display -- that's a good idea, i will add an option for that.

Selected cell options, noted.

with the relatively low cost of hard drives i have always taken a one-strike-and-your-out replacement approach.  any hint that the drive might be trouble and i backup and replace as soon as possible.

LaunchBar Commander / Re: Problem with 1.129.01 when launching rdp-Files
« Last post by mouser on February 03, 2012, 03:51 PM »
Nice investigation and solution!

Could it also be solved by right-clicking on an rdp file in widows explorer and saying "open with -> (always) ->" and the mstsc.exe?

A new version is up at the link in the first post -- nothing new since previous release just bug fixes.
I'd really like to release the new version publicly this weekend so I would appreciate any help you can give me finding lingering bugs.
thanks!

increasing the "trim and show" horizontal setting from 3 to 4 removed the doubled up image.

got it -- normally that trim thing will automatically detect that there was no horizontal content -- but something small on the screen probably changes when it tries to horizontally scroll.. explaining the problem.

FlipSuite and Flipbook Printer / Re: cant get it to work
« Last post by mouser on February 02, 2012, 04:30 PM »
did you try loading another video? there should be a sample video somewhere.  if it loads other videos and not yours it may be something unusual about your video file.

can you send me your video file ([email protected]) or upload it somewhere where i can download it if its large?

Screenshot Captor / Re: Screenshot Captor v3 beta
« Last post by mouser on February 02, 2012, 03:55 PM »
I think perhaps a more generic solution would be an option which allows user to set CUSTOM keypresses to simulate for vertical and horizontal scrolling.. that could be useful in handling odd cases.  thoughts?

Screenshot Captor / Re: Screenshot Captor v3 beta

Thanks for the suggestions.

Some quick comments:

1) "Rows" being better than "Pages" (as said above) makes me wonder should default scrolling be "by rows" ? (I know I'm basing this question on one capture, but just thought I'd ask anyways).

Rows won't always work.  For example it won't work in windows that require keypress simulated paging.  But when they do, they can be much easier for SC to align, since scrolling by pages can leave little or no overlap to discover.  That's why the "Test Window" procedure is basically trying to figure out if it can scroll by rows and how many rows at a time to scroll.  The problem with setting to ByRows manually is that it can eat up a lot of memory unless you set a high enough "rows per scroll multiplier" (which is what Test Window tries to determine).

~ if horizontal scrolling is activated when there is no horizontal scrolling in the window, it doesnt work
~ if horizontal scrolling is *not* activated where there *is* horizontal scrolling in the window, it doesnt work.

not sure what you mean by "doesn't work".  it should do fine capturing pure vertical content even if there is horizontal content and you disable it.  if you try to capture horizontal content and there is none, it shouldn't cause any problems just some wasted time trying to horizontally scroll when there is no content.  can you elaborate what didnt work?
