Well it's a shame it was listed in the first place.  :down:  >:(

Cyber Bandwidth Monitor is another rip-off. FreeMeter Bandwidth Monitor For Windows looks like the original project.

SpeedApps Website looked dodgy to me - I mean, no contact us details, no info about the company, no license information etc., so I quicly did a whois search and found out it's registered to Nir Halowani. He is linked to a couple of GPL violations, InfraRecorder being the most recent one. appZilla is also associated with him.

Stay away!

Check out MoveResize plugin for Volumouse (Requires Volumouse).

2008-01-20_225505.jpg

BTW, to resize an active window (works on WinXP and probably on earlier Windows versions):

1. Click on the active window and press Alt + Spacebar
2. Press S
3. Press the arrow key that corresponds with the side of the window you want to change.
4. Press Enter when done resizing

Found 2 incredibly cool full-screen text editors - Q10 & WriteMonkey.

Q10 Key Features:

* Full-screen.

* Word, page and character counts are updated live as you type.

* Programmable page count formula.

* Customizable look and paragraph format - Change the colors, line spacing, first line indent, paragraph spacing, font...

* Portable - A single self-contained executable file. That’s all. Easy to use with a pendrive, so you can carry your writing environment with you everywhere. Q10 will remember the last file you worked on, even if the drive letter assigned to your pendrive changes from computer to computer.

* Easy to use timer alarm.

* Spell checker.

* Notes - Any paragraph starting with ".." is considered a note. You can get a list of all notes in the current document and jump instantly to any of them.

* Target count - Displays completed percentage. You can choose units: words, pages, lines, paragraphs or characters. If NaNoWriMo is your thing, this is for you.

* Partial counts - Keep track of the extension of current chapter or see how much content you've produced in the current writing session. You're free to use partial counts as you like: up to four counters with customizable labels and units: words, pages, lines, paragraphs or characters.
Autocorrections and quick text.

* Unlimited autocorrection entries to fix on the fly those persistent typing errors. Unlimited quick texts list for frequently used words or phrases, like character names, places, etc.

* Standard and clean text format - You will be able to open your work with any text editor or word processor. Now and in the future.
Encoding and line endings agnostic.

Reads and writes ANSI and UTF-8 texts, and line endings formats are not a problem for Q10.

* Typing sound effects.

* Small, fast and stable.

* Autosaving - You can ask Q10 to save your work after some number of new paragraphs, or after some time has elapsed. If you're really paranoid, set Q10 to save every paragraph.

* Q10 is Free.

WriteMonkey is a similar program but also offers other interesting features, like repository mode, progress bar, toggle bookmarks etc.

I've tried many and the best one I've come across is DupDetector, and it's free.

It was/is from a company called Prismatic Software

http://www.prismaticsoftware.com

Although it looks like they sadly no longer exist.

It's worth Googling to see if you can find it elsewhere or I'll gladly email it to you.

It's not very pretty to look at but works really well.

Dup Detector freeware version 3.201 still available via this link:

http://web.archive.o...Utility/Utility.html

Here's a screenshot and a brief description:

2008-01-16_211516.jpg

"Dup Detector finds duplicate and near duplicate images by opening and reading image pixel data. Large collections and large image file sizes can slow Dup Detector but it works well running in the background. Large image collections often are filled with duplicate images under different names. Use Dup Detector to clean them. DupDetector reads 9 image file types from a folder or its subfolders or from an image list."

On Software Design by Gregory Braun Website Password Keeper is priced at $19.95.
PhilB66,

Gregory Braun used to offer earlier versions of some of his programs for free, but it looks like he doesn't any more.  Maybe that's how oldfart came by a free version.

OK. Thanks rjbull.
