Guest Additions are installed on the hosted system.

Either way, I'm more familiar with using BSD to create bespoke servers rather than VM hosts, so I'll defer to you to provide instructions or links on how to do it under OpenBSD.

Your quote is related to using PC-BSD as a guest system.

OpenBSD works as a host (or doesn't, depending on who you ask). - PC-BSD is not exactly "light on resources".

Not having read the rest of the thread:

OpenBSD.

Much less than 100 MB RAM usage on my "hey, let's test OpenBSD" machine (latest 5.5-CURRENT with default X installation), fast and clean base system installation. It even found my Radeon card immediately.

Technically, I'm currently stuck between PlanMaker (very fast, very mighty, quite cheap) and Quattro Pro (very, ehm, just mighty). While I have Excel 2013 (for university-related stuff) and LibreOffice Calc (for everything else) on my hard disk, both of them lack a sane user experience.

Too bad that Wikipedia fails to have a real "comparison" regarding actual functionality available.

This was true until the "Vista-styled" versions were released which look bloated and a bit boring, no matter what you configure.

(Does dired count as a file manager? It is a serious competition to FAR Manager [which I also like as I stated a couple of years/pages ago].)

One tool, one purpose. Now what is the "one purpose" for file managers? Managing files? If so, it's actually sad that Proto development seems to have been halted.

Back on FARR now. Launchy seems to be dead. Initially I switched due to Launchy's better performance, but that seems to have improved...

Any chance for a better font display on the options window/status bar? It could need more blur.
